One of Tekken 8’s most entertaining features is Customization Mode. Players can inject extra personality in their characters with various cosmetic items. Out of all the fighters on the Tekken 8 roster, King is my favorite to use in this mode.
As a professional wrestler, King is one to always dress for the occasion. What makes him fun to customize is the added challenge of dressing around his mandatory mask.
You are forced to really get creative to let your vision shine through. If you are struggling with customization here are 10 clever ideas to get you started.
What’s Great About Customizations?
Customizations allow players to insert an extra layer of style to their characters. You will often see players dressed as characters from popular anime such as Naruto and One Piece. There is also special content that is released seasonally such as summer time beach costumes.
When players save match recordings for the Super Ghost Battle feature the customizations are retained.
If I see a customization that I think is memorable, I love to save it as inspiration for future designs. Not all customization ideas will fit every character so it is important to be flexible with your ideas.
10. John Cena
Since King is a professional wrestler, this customization is quite fitting. John Cena has been a staple of the WWE franchise for over 20 years.
In a weird way, King’s Jaguar Mask actually complements the green color scheme of this outfit. This is a simple cosplay that does not require you to buy anything from the Tekken Store.
What you will need:
- T Shirt (Green)
- Baseball Cap (Green)
- Championship Belt
- Jean Shorts
- Any Sneaker
- Bracelet x2 (Green)
9. Undertaker
This is another WWE inspired customization. The Undertaker is one of the biggest modern legends in the franchise’s history.
His iconic theme and imposing presence has been etched in the minds of millions of fans. This is another great customization for King that really compliments his pro wrestling style.
What you will need
- Fancy Hat
- Overcoat (Black)
- Championship Belt
- Trousers (Black)
- Any Dark shoes
8. Armor King
Since the very first Tekken, Armor King has been a staple rival character alongside Anna Williams and Lee Chaolan. Though he is not on the roster currently, he will inevitably be added to Tekken 8 in the future.
Players in anticipation for Armor King’s release can use base King as a holdover until his eventual announcement.
What you will need
- Tezcatelipoca Mask
- Leather Jacket
- Spiked Shoulder Pads
- Black T Shirt
- Dark Jeans or Leather Pants
7. Goku
DragonBall is arguably the most influential manga of all time. Countless pieces of media have taken inspiration from this martial arts comedy, turned intergalactic saga. Even the main antagonist, Kazuya Mishima bears an uncanny resemblance to fan favorite, Vegeta.
The main protagonist, Goku has an iconic look with his orange and blue training gi. This customization is fairly easy to make and you can even add aura effects to make it more authentic.
What you will need:
- Karate Uniform Top (Orange and Blue)
- Karate Uniform Pants (Orange)
- Any boots (Blue)
- Optional Fire aura
6. Wolverine
Wolverine stocks are at an all time high right now with the recent release of Deadpool and Wolverine. You can join in on the fun by doing this simple cosplay. While not the iconic yellow-blue spandex with the trademark cowl, it is still a memorable design from the movies.
King is already a jaguar man, so adding the claws does not feel out of place.
What you will need
- Tank top (White)
- Stylish Jeans
- 2x Claws
- Any boots or sneakers
5.Luffy
One Piece is another long running manga that is a popular choice for cosplay enthusiasts. The world of One Piece is full of uniquely designed and memorable characters. Luffy’s signature straw hat and red coat are easily accessible in the game with minimal effort.
If pro wrestling ever goes on a decline, King always has a backup plan in the pirate life.
What you will need:
- Straw Hat
- Rain Coat (Red)
- Jean Shorts
- Sandals
4.Terry Bogard
The legendary “Hungry Wolf” is a fighting game legend alongside Ryu, and Scorpion.
While his red attire is more iconic, I personally favored his design from Garou, Mark of the Wolves. The brown leather coat has an aura about it. Even though King doesn’t have long blonde locks like Terry, I still feel that he carries the look well.
What you will need:
- Leather Coat(Brown)
- Stylish Jeans
- Plain T Shirt (White)
- Black Sneakers
3.Big Boss
Big Boss is one of the most memorable video game characters of all time.
Seeing his rise from soldier to morally gray military leader is one of the coolest stories ever told. King’s jaguar mask oddly complements the green suit and eyepatch. You can even add a shotgun on your back for extra oomph.
What you will need:
- Beret (green)
- Eye Patch
- Military Uniform
- Slacks (Green)
- Dress shoes /Black)
- Optional Shotgun
2.The Mask
The Mask is one of Jim Carrey’s most memorable films.
The over the top CGI violence and comedy made for one of the most entertaining comic book adaptations in cinema history. For this customization you will need to switch out King’s Cheetah mask for a skull helmet. You can even add the comic book effects to your attacks.
- What you will need:
- Skull Mask (Green)
- Business Suit (Yellow, White, Black)
- Dress Shoes (Black)
- Comic Hit Effect
1.Mario
Mario is arguably the face of the gaming media as a whole. The red plumber has been in countless titles spanning over forty years. His red hat and blue overalls are easily recognizable to people that do not even play video games.
While most of the Tekken series has skipped over Nintendo Consoles, Tekken Tag Tournament 2 did make it to the Wii U which included Nintendo themed skins. This customization is easy to create on all characters in the game.
- What you will need
- Baseball Cap (Red)
- Business Suit (Red & Blue)
- Brown Leather Shoes
Cosmetics in fighting games allow for greater player expression. Tekken’s vast customization options give it a real charm that its competitors don’t match up to. Tekken 8 is sure to be supported for many years to come allowing for hundreds of new items to be added to the store. I can not wait to see what creations players come up with.
