Another year arrives, and with them another batch of new players entersing the world of Genshin Impact. If you are one of those, well, you’re in for a treat, that’s for sure. Not only that, building characters, artifact stats, elemental reactions, and team-building. Maybe too much to handle at one, right?

In this guide, we’ll tackle team building first, as it’s one of the basics in the game. Every combination of characters, new or old, will result in a different team with a different strategy. We’ll show you some teams that’ll help you learn and make your own.

10. Traveler, Amber, Lisa, and Kaeya

It’s obvious the first one should be the starter team. Before you pull for anyone in any banner, these four characters will be given for free to you. Neither Amber, Lisa, or Kaeya will cost you any wishes, so make the most use of these characters. Amber’s and Lisa’s ranged attacks, together with the Traveller’s and Kaeya’s melee DPS will make an all-round team.

What Makes This Team Great:

Balanced team with various elements and positions
Free with no cost on primogems
Traveller can be an Anemo, Geo, or Electro character

9. Beidou, Xingqiu, Fischl, and Sucrose

In this team, we find the pirate captain Beidou. Next to her, we have another Electro character Fischl (for passive damage), a Hydro character Xingqiu (for healing and Hydro applying), and Sucrose (for elemental resistance decrease in enemies). This team of support enables Beidou to increase her DPS to conquer the 7 seas.

Beidou’s counter is a powerful nuke

Passive extra damage from Fischl, Xingqiu, and electrocharged

8. Xiao, Sucrose, Barbara, and Xingqiu

A double element pair: Anemo and Hydro. The Anemo resonance makes Xiao’s attacks faster and his DPS greater. The Hydro resonance increases the healing received from Barbara a Xingqiu. This helps stop Xiao’s death, which is always near as he loses HP when using his elemental burst, a.k.a. his main DPS ability.

7. Keqing, Fischl, Chongyun, and Xingqiu

The DPS now is Keqing, from the Qixing of Liyue. Her three supports will be Fischl, Chongyun, and Xingqiu. Energy recharge and sub- DPS areis given by Fischl’s skill, and Xingqiu and Chongyun’s goal is to cause elemental reactions and freeze everything in their way. Kkeqing will have free rein with these three helping.

What Makes This Team Great:

One of the best DPS in early-game
Makes various elemental reactions: frozen (Cryo + Hydro), superconductor (Cryo + Electro) and electro-charged (Hydro+Electro)

6. Qiqi, Barbara, Chongyun, and Razor

Two DPS, or just one, you decide. What do I mean? Well, Razor is a DPS for sure, with his super Electro elemental burst and all. On the other hand, Qiqi can deal tons of damage thanks to her tons of ATK. This can make her a DPS as well as a healer. To have both of them attack or just one of them is your choice.

What Makes This Team Great:

Best healers in the early game
Constant healing
Good crowd control with enemies’ freezing

Qiqi: Healer, Enabler, and DPS or just Healer
Barbara: Healer and Enabler
Chongyun: Enabler

5. Diluc, Chongyun, Barbara, and Fischl

And here we start to have some really good DPS. The first example is Diluc, the best early-game DPS character in the Game. His Pyro element can make amplifying reactions such as Melt (with Chongyun’s Cryo), Vaporize (with Barbara’s Hydro), or Overload (with Fischl’s Electro). These reactions increase his damage a mile further, making him unstoppable.

4. Sayu, Xiangling, Zhongli, and Albedo

Sayu is an Inazuman shinobi. Inazuma is a region you may or may not have encountered yet. It doesn’t matter because the banners will give you every 4-star regardless of their region. Zhongli and Albedo can prepare the field with their skills, and Sayu will spread Xiangling’s Pyro thanks to her powerful burst.

Sayu’s skill enables her to attack lots of enemies at once

3. Zhongli, Albedo, Jean, and Xiao

Why the same pair as before? Because they are amazing of course. The shields increase damage thanks to the Geo resonance, and the passive damage from both is outstanding. In this case, Xiao is the jumping DPS, with Jean preparing a healing field to stop him from dying. A perfect team, if you ask me.

Full healing in Jean’s Area

2. Tartaglia, Kazuha, Xiangling, and Bennett

And we start the end with a nuker team. What is a nuker team? It’s a team centred around a DPS that can deal tons of damage in a short time, in this case, Tartaglia. Kazuha, Xiangling, and Bennet exist to prepare the enemies through various methods so that Childe’s nuke (in this case his elemental burst) can deal up to one million damage.

What Makes This Team Great:

Strong support from Xiangling’s elemental reaction, Bennett’s attack increase, and Kazuha’s elemental resistance decrease.

1. Raiden Shogun, Xiangling, Xingqiu, and Bennett

A similar team? Well, yes. But how can humans compare to archons? Raiden Shogun’s nuke is her elemental burst, whose damage is increased with the number of bursts used before. The other three characters’ role is to use their burst to both prepare enemies and prepare the Shogun’s burst. Well, even without support, she’s a formidable enemy indeed.

Strong support from Xiangling and Xingqiu reactions and Bennet’s increase in attack
