[Top 15] Genshin Impact Best Exploration Characters That Are Excellent

With the new region having just been released, exploration has become the number one priority of the players. This third region, Sumeru, has the blessings of Dendro and is full of Dendro puzzles and huge trees to climb. 

For these difficult times, we decided to update our exploration guide, plus adding 5 more new characters.  Although you can try exploring with any of your team members, having these best exploration characters instead of them can make your travels a lot easier, with less stamina consumption, mapping or platform-creating abilities

15. Traveller

The Traveller is the main character of the game, as well as the first free-to-play character you can use after starting. Although we have to admit that his damage dealing and support are not the best by far, that doesn’t mean he’s not apt for exploration work.

The Traveller is an adventurer, and as such he has to solve tons of puzzles daily. His ability to change between elements makes solving them ten times easier. Puzzles that need various elements can be done in a flash.

14. Collei

Most of us know Collei. She’s that little girl with strange purple-ish powers that appeared in Mondstadt before the Traveller’s arrival. This all was shown by Mihoyo themselves through a short comic uploaded on its webpage.

After some years, we finally have this Sumeru ranger with Dendro powers ready to battle with us. Two main characteristics make her super useful for exploration. First is the decrease in gliding stamina consumption (learnt from her friend Amber), and second is her Dendro skill that can activate puzzles of that element. There are only 3 Dendro characters, you know.

13. Heizou

Shikanoin Heizou is another relatively new character. It was the last Inazuman character added to the game before Sumeru, having little to no spotlight. This government detective should have more fame because he’s the only character in the game that uses martial arts instead of weapons.

Being an Anemo character makes him powerful in battle, but his passive is useful when exploring as well. We are constantly dashing and sprinting because walking in Genshin Impact is REALLY slow. However, stamina is not endless and each minute we have to wait for it to recharge. Well, Heizou can help with that.

12. Sayu

A little sleepy kunoichi from Inazuma that helps the Yashiro Commission leaders in their secret missions (such as rebelling and making a coup). However, in her free time, this girl either sleeps or explores the Inazuman forests.

She has two amazing perks that will make you want her in your exploring team. Her elemental skill makes her into a tanuki ball that can run super fast and hit enemies. Guess what, you can use that to cover huge distances in seconds when exploring. Even running on water if you apply Cryo! The second one is, of course, her ability to catch little animals like Crystalflies without startling them.

• When Sayu is in the party, your characters will not startle Crystalflies and certain other animals when getting near them.
• Can run huge distances with her elemental skill

11. Gorou

One of the Inazuman 4-characters introduced is Gorou, a general from Sangonomiya island, in Inazuma. As a half-dog and an expert general, he’s able to distinguish Inazuma’s specialities in the area and mark them on your map. With Gorou in your team, finding Inazuman resources will be easier than ever.

10. Tighnari

Tighnari is the first 5-star character from Sumeru, a researcher slash ranger slash archer that lives in the forest. In the update 3.0 Tighnari was introduced in a special temporal banner. However, since the update 3.1, Tighnari is included in the standard free-to-play banner, available for all types of players.

How is Tighnari amazing for exploration? First of all, we have the element he’s proficient with: Dendro. Like Collei and the Traveller, he’s one of the few Dendro users and is needed for puzzle activation and elemental resonances. Nonetheless, his most amazing aspect is  his passive, which displays the location of unique Sumeru resources without having to look for them.

9. Qiqi

Following the same line, Qiqi is another character with a similar passive. Expert in Liyue pharmaceutics, Qiqi can discover any resource from her region and point at it in the mini-map. 

Not only that, Qiqi’s Cryo Vision allows her to produce gelid attacks. These attacks can be used to activate those ancient artefacts spread through Teyvat that resonate with some elements. Moreover, her skill continuously freezes everything around her, allowing you to form a perfect ice bridge on the water.

8. Klee

Now, with only Mondstatd left, we go to little Klee. This pyromaniac we all know and love is so used to playing in the wilderness that she can find you any kind of resource from Mond in the area shown in your mini-map.

Not only that, she can be used to activate Pyro ancient artefact with her charged attack. This attack can also be used to destroy entire veins of ore when needed. And don’t forget her friend, which she can send with her elemental skill and works on pressure plates on puzzles.

7. Beidou

The passive ability this pirate queen possesses is as obvious as useful. While you swim your stamina will decrease 20% more slowly. Although it doesn’t seem like much, just wait until you have to swim between islands and see how thankful you should be.

Moreover, Beidou’s elemental skill (her counter-shield) infuses Electro on herself while guarding. This is useful when solving some puzzles on Inazuma, and she’s the only one who can do that in the whole game!

6. Albedo

Nearing the first half, we find the alchemist Albedo. What do you say? How can a scientist be good at exploring the outside world? Now, don’t be prejudiced. Albedo’s skills in creating life made him able to create structures from nothing. One of these structures is a flower elevator, which can save you the time of jumping to roofs or hills more than once.

5. Kamisato Ayaka

This Cryo character is the eldest daughter of the Kamisato Clan in Inazuma. As one of the two characters with an alternative sprint in the game, Ayaka can be a great asset while exploring Teyvat. With her special sprint, she can run through the water's surface, which is faster than swimming. 

Even if you run out of stamina, she has a solution. When she stops sprinting she jumps out and freezes the water. From there, you can keep creating an ice bridge with her Cryo-infused basic attacks.

4. Zhongli

As the Lord of Geo, how can Zhongli not be up to the task of exploring? Does everyone remember how he created Guyun Stone Forest? No? Well, he rained thousands of rock pillars to the sea just to trap some god.

His elemental skill is the same. He can summon a Geo pillar from the ground so you can climb it and continue exploring. Not only can he summon them on the ground, but, if you position yourself correctly, you can also create pillars from the walls or even diagonally instead of vertically.

3. Xiao

Liyue’s Vigilant Yaksha, Xiao, comes third. As the last Yaksha adepti alive, he must follow his duty to cleanse the region from darkness. The first perk Xiao offers to your team is a decrease in your stamina consumption while climbing. Everyone has shouted more than once in frustration because their stamina was depleted before reaching the top. Xiao solves this problem for you.

His passive ability is not the only helpful thing about him. Lemniscatic Wind Cycling, his elemental skill, can be used in mid-air. This skill allows us to move horizontally twice, without spending gliding stamina.

2. Kazuha

In second place we find Kaedehara Kazuha. As one of the best characters from Inazuma, he’s not only an amazing support, but is great for open-world exploration as well. This wandering samurai has travelled throughout the archipelago, so of course, he would be great in the wilderness.

With an elemental skill that lifts Kazuha upwards, you can start climbing without wasting any stamina. It can also be used in mid-air for prolonged flights. His passive ability decreases the cost of sprinting so you can run more time with the same stamina. If you want to do your daily commissions faster than ever, Kazuha’s sprinting perk will be helpful for you.

1. Venti

And the Anemo Archon, Venti, takes first place. Venti (formally named Barbatos) is, if you remember, also the God of Freedom. Being the god of freedom, he will help you to fly and glide from one end of Mondstadt to the other.

First, he shines because of his elemental skill. When charging it, it has two functions: launching Venti into the air and creating a current for 20 seconds. With this, you can make your Venti or other characters or even friends start climbing from there. His elemental burst can also clean up groups of hilichurls or treasure hoarders in a moment. 

With his passive, your entire team will have a 20% decrease in stamina consumption while gliding. You won’t be trying to fly through Dragonspine just to fall into the void because of your stamina anymore.

So that’s the complete updated top of exploration characters. What do you think? The first ones haven’t been surpassed yet, but with how cool-looking the leaked characters are (looking at you Cyno) it’s only a matter of time. For the moment, we’ll have to have fun using the new 5-stars, Tighnari, and his apprentice, Collei, among others.
