Fight evil with a friend in these coop horror games
Who doesn’t like being spooked alone while playing a creepy game like Resident Evil? I don’t. I find it so much more fun when me and my friends can be scared together, and we can yell (not scream because we’re very manly men) in unison.
That’s why I’ve created a list of the top 11 co-op horror games that you can just jump into and have fun with friends.
11) The Forest
The Forest Gameplay
The Forest is a four player horror survival (single player/co-op) game where you are trying to find your son who was kidnapped by crazed naked cannibals, and this can be done alone or with your friends. I’d recommend doing this with your friends because the forest gets dark and lonely alone.
The game is an adventure with twist and turns. You must build a base, kill cannibals, explore caves, and take on giant mutants, but it won’t be easy, so don’t underestimate The Forest.
Help your friends out in tough situations.

10) Friday The 13th

Ever wanted to play as Jason and murder those stupid counsellors? Well Friday The 13th lets you do just that, and if killing isn’t your cup of tea, then you can work together with friends to escape Jason.
Friday The 13th is a thrilling horror game which is strictly multiplayer, so your choice is to play as Jason and take on the counsellors alone, or you can play the counsellors and try your best to get away from Jason. As a survivor, you must collect supplies to fight off Jason and find items to fix a car to escape.
Getting caught means forfeiting your life.
Jason will do his upmost to get you away from your friends.
9) 7 Days To Die
7 Days to Die Gameplay
7 Days To Die is a horror survival game where you and friends survive the zombie filled wastelands together. It’s a voxel based zombie game, so if you’ve played Minecraft, then imagine that mixed with Left For Dead.
You and friends fortify a home, collect food, and find guns to fight against the waves of zombies. There are multiple biomes to choose to live in, so choose wisely because every seven days a huge wave of zombies comes to tear you and your friends apart.
Find shelter for your group.

8) Dead By Daylight
Dead By Daylight Gameplay
Dead By Daylight is a co-op horror survival game where you and three other survivors have to activate generators to escape a killer. Dead By Daylight sounds a lot like Friday The 13th, but the gameplay is much less clunky and has a better progression system.
On top of that, this game offers much more killers and characters to play from different series, like Bill from Left For Dead 2.
When your friends gets caught, help them off the hook before it's too late.
Don’t let Jigsaw catch, or you’ll have deathtrap put on your head.
7) Resident Evil 5
Resident Evil 5 Gameplay
Resident Evil is a famed horror survival game where you fight off special type zombies to get to whatever your goal might be in that game. In this one you’re in Africa to take down Albert Wesker.
You and a friend play through levels as either Chris Redfield or Sheva Alomar. It’s a mission based game, so you and your friends will fight zombies and solve puzzles to progress through levels with strong and interesting character development.
Back to back, make your way through Africa.
With the power of two, you and a friend can surely take this guy on.
6) Resident Evil 6

The sequel to Resident Evil 5 is basically the same except it has multiple stories to play through, so there’s more content for you and your friends to play. It’s a two player co-op game, like the last resident evil, but it comes with new weapons and new zombie types to fight against, so it’s a new experience compared to its predecessor.
Play through multiple campaigns together.
Take on bosses together or run away together.
5) Desolate

Desolate is an early access horror survival game much like Day Z or Rust. You and your friends roam around a wasteland after the apocalypse has turned everyone into a crazy psychopath.
You fight against crazies and mutated monsters. There’s also a story mode, so if your friends are taking a while to log on, then you could play that while waiting.
Scavenge the wasteland together.
Humans aren’t the only thing after you.
4) GTFO
GTFO Gameplay
GTFO is game where you and your three other friends fight against mutants in a semi-futuristic bunker. The levels are procedurally generated, so you have a lot of replay value.
This game will put your co-op skills to the test with puzzle and hordes of mutants, so don’t mistake this game for a cake walk.
You and your friends better be ready for a non stop horde.
These zombies can break through metal walls too.
3) Left For Dead 2

This game is a very special exception. It’s one of the older titles on this list, but it’s a four-player survival horror game.
It’s an old school run and gun type game where you fight zombies and special zombies to escape the zone you’re in. You can do co-op as human survivors or as zombies, so kind of like a team deathmatch style.
This game has been modded almost as much as Skyrim, so I’d advise modding this game with friends to make it even more fun.

2) Killing Floor 2

If you’ve played Nazi Zombies in COD, then you’ll be very familiar with Killing Floor 2. It’s sort of like a tower defense co-op game where you and friends fight against waves of zombies while running across a map, and at the end of the waves you get to fight a boss.
Even after the waves of enemies stop, bosses keep coming!
Any horde can be taken down with a double barrel.
1) Hunt Showdown

Hunt Showdown is a hardcore horror survival game where you and a friend hunt down a monster, but it’s not that easy because you’ve got zombies, dogs, special infected, and other hunters coming after you, .
This is a lot like Day Z except for you have a lot more direction, and it’s on a smaller scale. This game has perma death, so if you buy a high rated survivor, then do your best to keep them alive.
Make sure you always have your friends back because you never know what may be in the shadows.
Grab a friend and traverse the swamp, but be wary of the zombies. They won’t make your hunt easy.
