Story

The industry has been tight-lipped regarding the plot summary for this latest production of the Saw Franchise. For those of you who must know, the storyline is as follows: As in the other movies, bodies are turning up around the city mutilated from ghastly torture. These bodies have the signature mark of the madman John Kramer, who as we Saw fans know was killed back in the 2006 Saw III. So, who is committing these atrocities? It’s sure to be another gut-wrenching film of mouse in the maze as we are led into another bloody game of Jigsaw.

Main Cast

Jigsaw’s main cast are Laura Vandervoot, Matt Passmoore, Callum Keith Rennie, Mandela Van Peebles, Paul Braunstein, Brittany Allen, and Josiah Black. Entertainment Weekly does not list Tobin Bell, who was cast as Jigsaw in the past Saw movies, as one of the main actors, however he is listed in IMDB. Perhaps, he will be making a cameo appearance under the guise of a flashback. Saw fans will have to wait and see.

8th Movie in the Franchise

With the remake of movies, such as Flatliners and Stephen King’s It, it would appear only natural that the Saw franchise would jump on the same band wagon. Although this, is not a remake, the upcoming movie Jigsaw is sure to reboot the Saw franchise for eager 2017 movie goers.

Release Date

Jigsaw is scheduled to hit theaters on October 27, 2017

Gore vs. Storyline

There is a definitive storyline in all the SAW movies. John Kramer, the original Saw serial killer, wants humanity to redeem themselves through torture and the will to live. Unfortunately, this rarely happens, and the bodies keep piling up. Michael Spierig wants to take a new approach with this latest edition to the franchise. Although there will be gore, it will be toned down. In Entertainment Weekly Spierig had this to say:

“We've got some pretty wild traps in the film --- we don't shy away from the gore. It's such a perfect Halloween scarefest. It's perhaps not quite as vicious and more fun, which is something we tried to inject into it. But it's still full of good fun gore, that's for sure. And, on top of that, it's got a really great mystery, and there's very interesting twists. It's Saw for 2017.”

It appears that the 2017 moviegoer wants more than just gore.
