Sharpen your weapons, we’re off on an adventure for the best early armor in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla. There are a few powerful choices in armor that suites a particular play style. I’ve listed the best armor you can get early in the game. Some require traveling afar for river raiding. Other armor will take you through a unique game mode.

5. Raven Clan Armor

Be the viking you were destined to be. With this reliable set of armor, you can go to mid-game and beyond. This armor is easy to get, and it has general stats that will help you in all play styles. The balance of the damage resistance with the weight and evasion makes this armor good for either dodging, blocking, short, and long distance melee. If you develop a specialty for a certain play style, I recommend picking up different armor found in this list as soon as you can.

Raven Clan Armor Review

  • The Raven Clan armor is good for any build style because of its middling yet effective stats. The armor’s stats are not powerful or weak. The additional increase to Critical Chance is helpful for all play styles.
  • This armor is great for the beginning of the game in comparison to armor later in this list because it's both easy to get, and it’s really effective even at the end game. When you upgrade this armor, the stats scale well. If you love jumping into the heat of battle, then this armor’s perk is good for you. With 2/5 pieces of armor equipped, you will increase your armor the lower your health is.
  • For those who enjoy the story and don’t want to explore the land of England, this armor will be your favorite. You get this armor from completing the main story. If you upgrade it all the way to Mythical, this armor will be powerful against any foe. Combined with a weapon with a high Critical Chance then you will take full advantage of this armor’s abilities.

Unleash your barbaric viking with the Huntsman armor. Paired with a 1 handed axe and your favorite bows of all classes, this armor will be powerful for an early game build. With its armor bonuses and respectable damage resistance, it plays best for a ranged play style. It will work with other builds because of its weapon perk that gives you an increase in speed. The dramatic details of the armor with its barbaric style will appeal to some people.

  • Excellent for ranged combat. You get an increase to ranged damage when hitting enemies further than 20 m away.
  • If you like using light weapons, then this armor will give you an advantage because of the perk that give an increase to speed.

3. Magister’s Armor

Do you miss slinking in the shadows like in the beginning of the Assassin’s Creed series? Do you miss the slight sense of anxiety while you slip from the dense brush, around the corner passes the guard and into the airy hallway? The Magister’s armor set is the best beginning armor for stealth. It’s armor perks and evasion stats make this excellent for dual daggers, hidden blade kills, and bow attacks.

Magister’s Armor Review

  • Players who enjoy stealth will like this armor. With 2 pieces of armor, you get increased melee damage at night. The armor has a higher evasion stat of the armors listed so far.
  • When you are playing stealthily, you will use your bows a lot. With 5 pieces of armor equipped, you get an additional increase to ranged damage. This is important. The higher the damage you deal with your bow, the more likely you will get a one hit kill. One hit kills will not get you detected if nobody sees you. It will make the guards suspicious, so be careful.
  • If you enjoy light weapons, these weapons are a good choice for now. The armor has a low weight. It’s the same as the Raven Clan armor. This will make sure you can dodge the most. It will help you conserve your stamina.

Get an easy to acquire mythical set of armor stronger than anything you’ve currently got. No need to confront powerful enemies or going on long adventures across England. This armor is one of the most historically accurate of what’s available throughout the game.

Ealdorman Armor Review

  • Having any kind of mythical armor will best the stats of inferior quality armor. This will be the strongest early game weapon you can acquire without going to the online store. It is the lightest armor that you can get so far. The lighter the armor, the more damage you can inflict over time. Do you love Capoeira? You can dodge like crazy with this armor set.
  • The increase to stun after a kill is a good perk in combination with flails, shields, or hammers. It is best to keep these weapons light to take advantage of the speed dominate stats of this armor set.
  • It doesn’t take a large investment of your time to get this set of armor. You only have to spend 2-3 hours completing the quest lines in the Discovery Tour. The Discovery Tour is fun if you are an explorer type. You get to explore England’s nook and crannies. You get to switch between characters, you can’t die, and you can’t attack anything. Furthermore, you’re free to explore to your heart’s desire.

1.  St. George’s Armor

Dress as a Templar and impale your opponents with St George’s Armor. This easy armor is easy to get early game through river raids at your settlement. With the help of your vikings, you can collect St. George’s armor every few raiding parties. In the end, you will fight a manageable foe to the death for a heavy sword. This armor pairs well with spears or great swords, so you can use its perk.

St. George’s Armor Review

  • This is great for heavy weapon play styles. When impaling enemies with a great sword or spear, you get an increase to attack for 10 seconds. When facing Zealots or other heavy enemies, you will rely on its high heavy damage resistance. The perk that increase your speed will make those heavy weapons deal more damage over time.
  • This is an armor that is at mid-game level that you can get in the early game. The river raids are not as difficult to complete when at a lower level compared to venturing into high power level regions of England. It is fun to raid military outposts and monasteries with your fellow vikings.
  • If you enjoy being in the middle of large battles, then this armor will be good until you can get the Brigandine armor. With its high damage resistance, you can absorb blows if you miss a block. Don’t worry, you’ll be home for supper!
