This article was hard to write because there are so many great mods out there for Total War: Warhammer 3. It was hard picking the best 15 mods and ranking them individually. But if you’re someone who is bored of the base game or just wishes that it had more content, well, you’re in luck.
You can modify the game however you want, to your liking. In this list, there are some basic quality-of-life mods, and there are some that completely overhaul the game. But enough of my rambling, let’s get into this article!
15. Disable Start-Up Splash Screens/Intros
An intro or the logo of a game might be interesting to look at when you open it up for the first time. But after you open the same game over and over again, it just gets tiresome, and you just want to hop into the gameplay as quickly as possible.
Thankfully, there’s a mod just for that, and it allows you to get straight to the main menu when you click the play button. It’s quite useful, and you won’t have to wait anymore and watch the unskippable intro for the hundredth time.
Disable start-up splash screens/intros features:
- You skip the intro of the game.
- After clicking the play button on Steam, you’ll be directed straight to the main menu.
- You can quickly get into the gameplay.

14. Building Progression Icons III
I don’t understand why this isn’t in the base game because it’s a good quality-of-life mod. What this mod does is change the upgrade icons for your buildings. So that it doesn’t show the same icon for the building even though it’s been upgraded.
How it works is that once you upgrade a building, the visual icon will be changed and upgraded. It won’t impact your gameplay or your performance at all, as it’s only a visual mod, and the best part is that the mod is regularly updated with the base game’s updates, and DLCs.
Building Progression Icons III Key Features:
- The icons of the buildings visually change to the specific upgrade.
- It doesn’t affect your performance.
- The mod is regularly updated alongside the base game.

13. Legendary Lore
If you want to learn about the lore of certain factions or unique battles that took place in the lore of the Fantasy Warhammer setting, then get this mod. This mod is great for people who want to get invested in the lore and learn as much as possible about it.
It’s really fun discovering unique lore while traveling the world, battling factions, and then being able to learn the lore of that faction or that specific location. You can also build settlements and landmarks in a region to learn more about it.
Legendary Lore Key Features:
- Learn about the lore of the Fantasy Warhammer by traveling, conquering, or building landmarks.
- Get unique events and lore tied to a faction or region.
- To lore is pulled straight from the source, so there’s nothing fake in it.

12. Recruit Defeated Legendary Lords
This mod kinda doesn’t make sense from an immersion standpoint, but who cares? It’s a game, and in a game, you’re meant to have fun. With this mod, you’ll be able to recruit any lord that you have defeated in battle.
It’s like catching Pokemon, but in Warhammer. Furthermore, the AI will also be able to recruit lords that they have defeated in battle. Keep in mind that you have to destroy a whole faction to be able to recruit the specific lords.
Recruit Defeated Legendary Lords:
- After you defeat a faction, you’ll be able to recruit the lords.
- The lords that you recruit will start wounded and will need time to recover.
- The AI is also able to recruit the defeated lords.

11. Better Camera Mod
Honestly, this is probably the mod that everyone should have. The devs spent so much time detailing the models, making sure that they are lore accurate and perfect, but they didn’t give us a way to see them up close and set the camera however we want.
But no more with this mod; you can set your camera however you wish, and you can even take some beautiful screenshots with it and you can even go into the cinematic view of a battle by pressing “ALT+K.”
Better Camera Mod Key Features:
- You can set the camera to a cinematic view for a battle.
- Take some beautiful screenshots.
- Look at the units up close without them disappearing.

10. Unique Faction UI
Here’s another quality-of-life mod that changes the UI of every faction to suit their respective color scheme. It will make playing different factions unique. In reality, it’s a simple mod but an effective one that changes up the UI visuals and makes it more immersive.
Unique Faction UI Key Features:
- Every faction will have a unique UI.
- It will make the game more immersive to play through and play different factions.
- It’s compatible with a lot of other mods, except mods that change the UI.

9. Simple Dynamic Settlements
Here’s a mod that will make the game more immersive and honestly give you a better feeling while playing. Basically, what this mod does is that once you occupy a settlement, it will change its looks to correspond to your faction.
No more orcs taking down a human settlement and keeping the human decorations. Instead, the settlement will look like something that’s being used by orcs. That applies to every single faction in the game.
Simple Dynamic Settlements Key Features:
- Once a settlement has been occupied, it will change its appearance to correspond to your faction.
- It will make the game more immersive.
- Capturing a whole region will feel more meaningful.

8. Campaign Weather Overhaul
This will make the weather more accurate like it is in the books. This mod creator went all out, and he created an amazing mod. Basically, what he did was add new custom weather effects, lighting, and environments that are specific for specific factions.
It doesn’t have any impact on performance, which is amazing, and keep in mind that this mod only works for the Immortal Empires. As that map is highly varied in details, it’s huge, and there are different areas.
Campaign Weather Overhaul Key Features:
- The mod adds custom weather effects, lighting, and custom environments.
- Changes up the game so that it feels more varied in colors.
- It doesn’t have any impact on performance.
- It gives the game the “grimdark” feeling, which it certainly lacks.

7. Dark Land Orcs
If you somehow played through all the base game’s factions and are looking for something new that’s also highly detailed and unique, then look no further than the Dark Land Orcs. This is a custom faction that has been added to the game by Frob, and he did an amazing job.
Hell, there’s even lore added to the faction, and each unit is described in the description of the mod. The mod adds a unique legendary lord, new building chains for all the Greenskins, 5 new units, 1 RoR, unique faction mechanic, and 12 scrap upgrades.
Dark Land Orcs Key Features:
- A completely new playable faction.
- New unique legendary lords, units, and upgrades have been added.
- You can recruit other green-skin factions.
- A new unique faction mechanic.

6. Dismemberment Overhaul: Ultimate All In One
Isn’t it weird how, for a Warhammer game, there isn’t as much blood and gore as there should be? I mean, there is the DLC that adds blood, but it’s kind of tame when compared to what you can read in the books.
So this mod aims to fix that. It will make the battles even more brutal and dark. You will see heads rolling and blood spilling, and it’s going to be satisfying to look at the battlefield after a huge battle has taken place.
Dismemberment Overhaul: Ultimate All-In-One Key Features:
- The battles will be more bloody.
- Units can be dismembered.
- The gore of the game will almost be more accurate.

5. Dynamic World
Do you sometimes feel that the map seems a bit empty and that almost nobody lives on it? That only the army and fighting exist? Well, if you do get that feeling, this mod is for you.
By adding this mod to your game, it will give you the feeling that actual people live here. It does that by adding small houses and buildings across the region. Alongside that, the forestry has also been modified to make it look unique to that specific race.
Dynamic World Key Features:
- Makes the map feel lived in.
- Unique structures for the human races spread around the map.
- The forestry has been edited for non-human races.

4. Custom Matched Combat Animations
This mod adds custom animations to soldiers and units in the game. It will make the battles more compelling to watch. There are a ton of custom animations added, and they won’t affect the formation of your soldiers in battle.
These animations are quick and short, and when combined with the dismemberment mod, it’s a dream come true. Furthermore, the mod is still being developed and updated, so expect some more animations in the future!
Custom Matched Combat Animations Key Features:
- Combat animations that will be played during battles.
- The animations don’t disturb your soldiers' formations.
- The animations are quick and short.
- It works perfectly with the dismemberment mod.

3. Champions Of Undeath: Conquest Of The Blood Dragons
Let me start by saying that this is a huge faction mod. The mod comes with a ton of content. From custom units, skill trees, and campaigns, they are all highly detailed and well made. Your point is to conquer the world with your army of blood dragons.
There are some major and minor unique faction mechanics. There are custom quests as well that you can complete if you want unique items that can help you out in battle. There is so much content in this mod that you simply can’t pass it up and have to try it out for yourself.

2. SFO: Grimhammer III - Kingdoms & Wildlands
If the vanilla game is a slice of an amazing chocolate cake, well, this is just the whole cake. This mod is a total overhaul of the game, and it has been done by passionate people who love the Warhammer setting. This mod changes every single aspect of the game to be lore accurate.
It changes the campaign and battle mechanics, units, factions, and so much more. The mod creators have also added a setting so that you can customize your experience however you want. If you thought the previous mod had a ton of content, well, this one has more.
SFO: Grimhammer III - Kingdoms & Wildlands Key Features:

1. Radius Total War Mod - Part 1, 2, 3, & 4
If you don’t want to go through the hassle of overhauling the game yourself, just download this mod, and you’re done. The mod itself adds over 200 new units for every faction in the game that are lore accurate, overhauls the campaign mechanics so that factions feel unique and have different mechanics, overhauls the magic system, AI, and economy.
As well as adding new effects and making sure that the mod is balanced, they added a ton of other sub-mods that work well with it, and the best part of all is that they made sure that all of this is lore accurate so that it doesn’t break your immersion. So my suggestion to you is to try it out for yourself.
