1) Highborn mail armor.
The battanian armor was made to last. This armor is not as strong as some others on this list, but it definitely is meant to be an all purpose armor. It is not heavy unlike many others so you will have an advantage of movement.
Highborn Mail Armor advantages:
Decent chance of getting it early in the game. If you keep hunting Battanians, eventually you will have lots of them.
Light armor compared to the other heavy ones. This armor may be heavy compared to leather or cotton ones, but the freedom of movement you get from it doesn’t make it annoying.
Best starting heavy armor. This armor is as easy as it is to find, it is also a good start if you are willing to get heavy armours.

Where to get this armor:
Try hunting down battanian armies, there is a pretty good chance you will find it relatively easy.
2) Brigandine over mail armor
Vlandian armors are always neat looking. This armor is one of my favorites to give to my companions. They are useful for deflecting heavy hits and stabbings.
Brigandine over mail armor advantages:
Versatile movements. This armor is a little bit heavy but the advantage it has over all of the heavy armors is that you can easily move, even if it is heavy.
Safe body from stabbings. High body armor stats that can deflect the strongest hits.
Statwise, the best armor for protection if you are starting.

Where to get this armor?
Most of the time, I find them with the traders in Vlandian territory. I have defeated Vlandians lords as well and when they have either cavalry or knights, you will be able to loot them.
3) Legendary Leather scale armor:
The leather scale armor is the best civilian armor in my opinion., This armor is made for fast combat, I would recommend using it in the arena and not battles.
Leather Scale armor advantages:
Versatile movement. With this armor you can move like you are batman fighting the goons in the iceberg lounge.
Exceptional defense stats for leather armors. This is hands down the best leather armor if you are starting out.
Easy to find. This armor is easy to find, mostly in the town and villages. Traders will have them and bandits are common users.

Where can you find this armor?
You can find it in trading villages or attacking bandits. I love this armor, aesthetically.
4) Mastercrafted southern scale over chainmail.
This one is one of the coolest looking armors. This armor will protect you when surrounded by foes. It is a crafted weapon, so it is hard to find. But I love its design and definitely one of my favorites to give to my companions.
Mastercrafted Southern scale over Chain Mail advantages:
Preppy looking. Aesthetically, you will look like one of those princes that come from heaven with this armor.
Durable. This armor is made for heavy combat, so keep yourself inside the mosh pit.
Hands down, best tournament armor. It excels at combat in battles, but tournaments is where she shines.
Light heavy armor. Compared to the other ones, this armor is not as heavy as the first place.

Where can you find this armor:
It is an Aserai armor, so it makes sense that you should fight the Aserai to get it. Unfortunately, I myself have never ever found it during battles. I once lost a tournament that had it as a prize and I have seen it only as a prize in tournaments. So try to look for tournaments, it is not common.
5) Heavy lamellar over mail
Honestly, my top 3 best looking armors in the game. The Heavy Lamellar over mail will never fail to protect you from your foes. This armor should be better used with suits of armor. You should find the other parts of the armor and complement it. As always, this armor is from Khuzait and they will excel at defense from arrows. Try to be careful with two handed axes.
Heavy lamellar over mail advantages:
Neat looking. Even your enemies will feel bad when your shiny armor gets dirty.
Extra chest protection. Stabbings will be useless with this armor.
Intimidating stats. This armor will be a deflector of foes, even the archers.
Heavy lamellar over mail stats:

Where can you find this armor:
Unlike the Mastercrafted southern scale over chain mail armor, this one is easy to find if you keep looking for it. Eventually, defeating the Khuzait armies will give you not only one, but maybe three or four. The Khuzait love this chestpiece and for a good reason, it is made to deflect heavy hits.
6) Luxury Scale armor:
Beautiful looking armor that will protect you in small scale battles. I do not recommend fighting heavy cavalry with this one. This one is made to fight peasants and kill them all without a scratch. It is in 6th place because it is easy to find and versatile movement is better than no movement at all.
Luxury scale armor advantages:
Early game armor. Relatively easy to find armor, I have seen it everywhere, even in big trading zones.
Relatively light. Compared to the other armors, this one offers protection and lightness.
High quality protection. This armor doesn’t only look cool, but it does a good job of defending against stabs. Slashes are mortal sometimes.

Where can you find this armor?
Easily findable in large markets. Mostly Aserai, but I have seen it in every corner of Calradia. Neat looking armor in my humblest opinion.
7) Cataphract Lamellar Armor.
This armor is made to be used in the middle of the battle. The protection in every part of the upper body is worth the shot and it is also one of the best looking armors if not the best. You should use this armor complemented with good pauldrons and you will be set for a long time until you get a better armor (I would stick with this one)
Cataphract Lamellar Armor advantages:
Protection in the middle of the mosh pit. Being surrounded by enemies is scary and this armor will not fail to give you a chance to fight back.
Relatively light. Compared to the others and its stats, I say that the weight for this armor is on point. Not as heavy. but not as light. It is balanced, as it should be.
Used by many troops. This armor will be easy to find if you choose the correct troops. Also, your soldiers will look gorgeous with this armor.
Cataphract Lamellar Armor Stats:

Where can you find this armor?
Empire all the way, Elite Cataphracts will wear them, as well as legionaries and Empire lords. Do not look elsewhere, you will waste your time.
8) Lamellar With Scale Skirt:
Another Imperial Armor. This one is a little bit better. But it just looks awful (my opinion). If the cataphract was made for cavalry and heavy combat, this one is made to be used in the mosh pit.
Lamellar With Scale skirt advantages:
The same as the cataphract, best defense in heavy combat.
Elite armor. This armor is hard to find, hence, it will be worth it once you find it.
Hands down, the second best armor of the Empire. Not as beautiful, but the second best for the Empire.

There is no other way but to marry someone from the Empire. Only the elite wear this armor…
9) Heavy Scale armor over mail Hauberk.
Another Empire armor that is noteworthy. I am giving it the 9th place because this armor is lighter than its other cousins. This armor is made to last. It is made for long engagements against your foes and it excels at protecting against slashes and stabbings.
Heavy Scale Armor over mail Hauberk advantages:
Made for total war. Do not choose another set of armor. This armor will take you to victory and through hard times.
Heavy armor made light. Compared to many other armors, this one, for the protection it gives you, I have no complaints about its weight.
Hard to beat you. If you wear this armor, the only thing you will need to be worrying about is the incompetence of your soldiers.

Where can you find this armor?
In battles! Defeat the empire until you get your desired armor. It is a no brainer. Eventually you will find it. Not as common as the others, but it is not impossible to find it.
10) Brigandine Over Hauberk.
Vlandia will always take the top spot for me. This one armor is perfect all around. A little ugly for my taste, but the best one. Of course the ugliest one will take the best place. It is made for long battles that are full of heavy armored foes. I suggest giving your companions this armor.
Brigandine over Hauberk advantages:
The best protection out of all the armors in the game. This armor will even protect your third leg…
Hard to penetrate. This armor will protect you like you were its son or daughter. You will only need to worry about your speed!
Ugly but intimidating. As ugly as it is, I’d be terrified if I see someone wearing this chestpiece.

Where can you find this armor?
I mostly find it in Sturgia, but you can find it in Vlandia. Sturgia is more common for some reason, even if it is Vlandian armor. I have seen it in stores but mostly, I get them from battles.
