It can often be difficult to find good world seeds for Minecraft’s Java Edition. There’s simply more content out there about Bedrock - because it’s, in a few words, more popular. Bedrock is designed to run smoothly on all kinds of computers, and it’s also crossplay enabled, making it a great option for folks who want to play Minecraft with friends. The downside? Java players wind up getting no love! I endeavor to remedy this problem. Here are fifteen awesome seeds that work on both Java and Bedrock!

This mountain range is so massive, you just have to see it to believe it. In addition to the mere spectacle of these towering snowy peaks, the chances of a seed generating a mountain range this enormous are a statistical marvel: one in five million seeds! And with hills this huge, who knows what could be hiding underneath? These impossible mountains are just lying in wait to be explored and conquered.

In the middle of this Old Growth Taiga biome lies an enormous crater. Peering over the edge and into the stony depths will reveal a beautiful lush cavern environment, completely open to the sun and the sky. Some millenia ago, this site must have been the target of a meteor - and today, life is flourishing throughout it.

Floating, winding, tangled wooden pathways hover in mid-air, criss-crossing this exposed lush cavern. Mine shafts are a great place to find loot, between the chests that often spawn along the minecart rails and the dungeons that frequently generate nearby, but aside from that, they’re also just really cool to look at!

This mountain is missing an enormous hunk of stone and snow off its peak, making room for a gorgeous crater, filled with chilly, peaceful, and still pools of water, settled in the bottom of the basin. From afar, this dripstone cavern is beautiful, but up close, it gives off a sacred air. This place is a nirvana - untouched for centuries.

This woodland mansion has generated inside the confines of a beautiful, glittering lush cavern. Vines of bioluminescent berries dangle around it, offering a soft glow under the looming shadow of the mansion. Once the mansion has been plundered and subdued, it would make an amazing base - a massive house built entirely underground.

The village at the foot of this snowy peak is peaceful and scenic, but the true MVP of this seed is the little cottage that’s been built up into the mountainside, overlooking the valley and surrounded by a blanket of soft white.

The gaping hole in the earth is ominous, but if you decide to take the chance, there’s a beautiful hollow hidden just beyond it. The hanging vines, creeping moss, and massive underground lakes make this location look like a pixie kingdom out of a fairytale. Bring down some mycelium and start growing giant mushrooms to build a secret magical realm of your very own.

Building a home near this site is not for the faint of heart. An enormous woodland mansion has spawned right next to an exposed skeleton dungeon. The spawner and the mansion’s windows are practically brushing elbows! If you’re brave enough, this would be a super cool place to put down your flag.

The mountains in this seed aren’t the only things that are big - hidden away among the snow and ice is a huge ruined portal, netherrack bleeding out from the base of the broken obsidian frame, hinting at the dangerous underworld that lies just beyond the fabric of this reality. Do you have what it takes to restore this portal to its former glory?

Not far from spawn, among the dense dark oak forest, looms a woodland mansion, elevated above the leafy canopy via a massive pillar of cobblestone. I see this uncanny sight and I am immediately reminded of the Biblical Tower of Babel. I can’t help but imagine the pillagers building their homes taller and taller to try and brush the heavens.

The gorgeous mountain ranges flanking this lovely, flower-dotted plains valley form an insurmountable barrier, protecting the peaceful denizens of the village housed inside. I’m sure if you’re nice, they’d let you come and stay with them. But I bet you could also get something out of being less nice, too, if you so desired…

4. 1957313141 - Those Pillagers will Invade Anything

This seed is just odd, but not in an unpleasant way. This pillager outpost has spawned jutting out of the top of a desert temple. I suppose if you didn’t mind the personal sacrifice, you could take those pillagers out fairly easily. All you’d have to do is get into the temple and dig down. Unfortunately, that would probably destroy all your loot, too - so a bit more strategy might be the right way to go.

3. 1930212632 - World’s Prettiest Dungeon

There isn’t too much to say about this seed; I just thought it was pretty neat. This exposed zombie spawner is connected to a lush cavern - which are always lovely, in their own right. The glowberry vines have invaded the cobblestone box of the dungeon, decorating the little space with some hanging foliage.

This seed’s spawn is extraordinary, to say the least - starting you off among dizzyingly tall mountains covered in caves and tunnels, caverns of every kind buried beneath the stone, and lava flowing like water to fill the caves with a warm (very warm) orange glow. It’s simply stunning, and offers a wide variety of cave environments to build, play, and explore in.

Before now, I’d never seen a lush cavern generate in a mesa biome. The burnt siennas and sunny yellows contrast beautifully with the gray stone and mossy greens. It’s gorgeous, unique, and utilitarian - you have access to a wide range of uncommon resources and a great space to bunk down in.
