League of Legends, as you know, is a multiplayer online battle arena. MOBA for short.
The words 'multiplayer' and 'online' are keys in this article.
Knowing your ping can help you prove your bad plays are a result of bad connection or low FPS. Or maybe you just want to kow your various ranges and such. Maybe you simply want to change your name. If so, worry not!
In this article we will be showing you how to do the things I said up there step by step. So let's get going!
LoL How To Show Ping and FPS
Let's look at FPS and Ping first. You entered the game and you went to your lane. But as you try to hit the minions or poke your opponent, you realize that you teleport around? What is it!? Why can't I hit him! GOD!
Well first of all, consider your connection or FPS. If you do not know what these mean, We'll gladly explain. FPS is short for Frames Per Second. Meaning how many times the image on the screen refreshes in each second. Kindf of like a movie. The higher it is the better the smoothness of the game and the lower this number means worse performance. FPS is directly connected to your hardware so if you have issues with it you should consider checking your device and maybe upgrading it.
Ping is the unit that measures the time that takes your commands' travel time to the server, it is the game-slang for latency. It is measured in milli-seconds and the higher this number is, worse connectivity. This number is your connection strength. If you have a high ping, you should consider looking at your modem. And keep in mind that you having high ping means you have internet problems as there can be a problem in the game server also.
To see your FPS and Ping in game you:
- Enter a game lobby.
- After you enter the rift press 'CTRL' and 'F' keys at the same time.
- Your FPS and Ping numbers should become visible at the top right corner.
LoL How To Show Attack Range
If you want to know how far you can hurt your enemies, then it is simple. Though there are two types of attack range: Auto-Attack Range and Skill Range. Skill Range is simple, this is how much your skills go. This is important to know if you want to calculate the safest distance and approach to hurt your opponent.
To see your Skill Range you:
- Hover on a skill icon in yout GUI with your mouse.
- A line/cone/circle appears around your character when you do this, that is the range of the specific skill
Auto-Attack Range is different. This is how far your character can hit. If your character has a bow or a gun then congratulations, you attack from a range! Looking it up is simple.
To see your Auto-Attack Range you:
- Press 'A' while you play.
- A circle appears around your character, much smaller compared to a skill. This is your Auto-Attack Range.
P.S.: You can close the option to see the skill ranges in the options menu.
LoL How To Emote
Emotes are a fairly new way of communicating with your teammates or your enemies in the game. You can either tell them to 'git gud' or indicate thet you are 'having a good time while you try to clean the minions around your nexus'. There are a ton of unique emotes in the game so you won't have any trouble telling how you feel.
To see your emotes and use them in game you:
- While you are in the game press and hold 'T' key (this is the default and can be changed in the in-game options menu).
- A circular menu appears around your mouse containing your eqipped emotes, you can choose which one to use with your mouse.
- Once you chose, let go of the key and viola! You've used your emote.
You can see your available emotes in the collections menu. You can equip them from there and purchase more if you'd like for 350 RP. You can also purchase them from the store as well.
LoL How To Change Name
So you are not happy with your name and want to change it so bady huh? Well it cannot be any easier. You just need 1300 RP or 13,900 Blue Essence And with a couple of easy steps, you will have your name changed! Just keep in mind that if your new name is deemed inappropriate, it will be altered by the Player Support without refund so choose your name carefully.
You can change your in-game name (or summoner name), which is seen by your friends and other people, not your log-in name, which you use for logging in to the game. Those are different and the latter cannot be changed.
To change your username you:
- Enter the store
- Click on the 'Account' tab on the top right corner (Profile with a gear behind it).
- You can then enter a name of your choosing to the box and check if it is available.
- If available, you can then proceed to purchasing it.
- After purchasing it, your new summoner name will take effect after you log into the game again and the forums.
