Kenshi is a great game. I love it. But it’s an even better game if you have mods installed and Christ, this game has a massive modding community. You can find yourself hundreds of fancy mods on Nexus or the Steam workshop, let it be graphical mods, new armor/weapon mods, new races, remade towns, and many other awesome things.
I’ll discuss some of my favorite mods that change Kenshi completely, mention their pros, and why they’re awesome! Let’s start with….
10. Hippity hoppity you're now my property
Funny name.
And it’s a funny addon as well. This addon adds over a thousand lines to your Kenshi, they appear when somebody is enslaving you, attacking you or you’re just approaching a random stranger to talk with. These lines can be funny, rude, or just disturbing. Awesome!

9. Compressed Textures Project
For potato PCs.
What does this addon do? It reduces your loading time, some stuttering and saves you some VRAM at the same time. Some PCs don’t have enough VRAM to run this game and you’ll end up with an error that won’t let you run this game - this lovely mod fixes that issue. This addon primarily focuses on improving performance!

8. Nice Map [Zones + Zone names + Roads]
Finally, a normal map..
If you’re gonna travel in the dangerous world of Kenshi, you gotta have a normal map. A map with roads and zone outlines help you a lot, especially when you’re traveling around zones such as Sonorous Dark or the Sniper Valley where you can get quickly overwhelmed and killed. Useful thing!

7. Reduced Weather Effects
No duststorms!
This mod is essential, as it removes these goddamn annoying duststorm effects that completely reduce your vision. The same thing applies to acid rains in zones like Vain or Black Desert City and allows you to start an outpost in there without getting annoyed by these ridiculous weathers.

6. 256 Recruitment Limit
*Hell march intensifies*
This mod allows you to recruit 256 characters. It allows you to have a massive army with which you can conquer locations like Heft, the Southern Hive, maybe the Shek Kingdoms, or whoever you want. Just make sure that you have some decent weapon smiths in your squad because you’ll need to craft a hellish amount of weapons!

- Makes Kenshi easy in a way
- Allows you to recruit a long list of characters in Kenshi(bandits, ninjas, cannibals, etc)
- 20 more squads

5. Reactive World
The world feels more alive!
How does this mod work? Well, for example, if you kill the Dust King, the remaining dust bandits will have a civil war over who rules over their little bandit group. If you kill the queen of the Western Hive, the Hivers over there are gonna turn into Fogmen and go insane - you get the idea. There are new features for the Holy Nation, Shek Kingdoms and Cannibals as well. Awesome!

- The Hub can get fixed if Sheks are winning the war
- 17 new cannibal tribes that can get defeated

4. Hiver Armor
Poor Hivers ;(
This addon allows you to collect body parts of defeated Hivers and wear them as armor. As sick as this sounds, this addon adds a whole lot of body parts that you can use as body armor. Hey man, the world of Kenshi is already sick as it is, you might as well dismember some Hivers and make some use of their valuable flesh!

3. Hives Expanded
Moar Hivers.
This addon adds more Hive tribes to your Kenshi, new paintable armors, and consequences if you dare to kill some tribe’s queen. In total, there are 3 tribes, each of them is different in their own way - they wear different armors, different skin colors and attitudes towards you. A must-have if you’re an Hiver fanboy!

2. Cannibals Expanded
The naked ones.
This basically adds more OP cannibals to your game. They appear in the northern parts of the game and are far more powerful than in the vanilla version of the game. There are also new cannibal variants, such as Punishers, Tenderizers, and Mancatchers. New armors and weapons are also included in this mod!

1. Kenshi: Genesis
A million mods in one.
Genesis adds a trillion of mods to your Kenshi. That includes new weapons, crossbows, new cities, remakes of cities like Heft, Clownsteady&other cities, allowing you to build new buildings such as the Hive huts, adds new animals, brand new combat animations+race mods. The list is just too long but Kenshi gets turned upside down and it becomes a new experience for even a veteran Kenshi player!
