Link, Zelda, and Lana on the battlefield
XP farming is a staple of gaming in most of its forms from classic RPGs to the latest Open World games. Your character’s level is how you progress your stats through a game in order to continue taking on harder challenges. With this list we’ll show you the best places to farm XP in Hyrule Warriors!
10. H1 in Master Quest Map
How to Grind Levels in Hyrule Warriors: Definitive Edition
H1 is the very bottom-left square in the Master Quest map with the battle goal “Rack Up Your KO Count.” Before doing any XP farming at all, it is important you enter the bazaar and get yourself a potion of experience first. Maxing out your magic gauge and using it up will also get you some boosted XP, but that one goes in bursts. It's also a good idea to bring an EXP+ weapon if you have one to maximize your XP gain!
This is a stage with a very easy goal attached at a high level (lv. 12). The only way to fail at “racking up KOs” is to die. That’s it! So you can head in here with any warrior you need to train and just keep smashing through enemies. With all the boosts listed above, you’ll be getting incredible XP gains even at the highest levels possible. When trying it out, I got my level 15 Toon Zelda to level 29, and I didn’t have an EXP+ weapon for her, so imagine how much better it could have been with one!
Why H1 is a Great Farming Spot
- High-level Stage. This stage is level 12, which gives you slightly more difficult enemies that will give you a bit more experience.
- Easy to Accomplish Goal. This stage has a goal that is easy to accomplish and hard to fail. Despite the “no healing” rule, you can still get revived by the Hard Worker fairy skill. Keep that in mind if you’re using a very weak Warrior.
- Normal Rank Map. This is the second map you unlock, so it is easy to get to and doesn’t have super intricate map rules.
How it works:
- Go to Square H1 on the Master Quest Map. This will be the bottom-left corner of the entire map with the stage “Rack Up Your KO Count” (Lv. 12) and a rule of “No Healing”.
- Hit the R button to enter the bazaar and buy an “XP Accelerator” potion. You need 10 silver rank materials in order to buy this potion.
- Pick out the Warrior you want to train. You have to pick two warriors for this stage, so your second one should be a backup just in case the boss monsters get overwhelming.
- (Bonus) Pick a weapon with the EXP+ skill. This will give you the maximum XP gain.
- Battle. You would benefit from building up your magic gauge while you’re fighting and going wild on your enemies to get the XP boost that offers as well. To win, you just have to survive for 10 minutes.
- (Bonus) Die/Fail Several Times. This way, you can use the same EXP potion over and over again!
9. B3 in Termina Map
How to level up FAST in Hyrule Warriors | +60 Lvls. in 1 Hour!
B3 in the Termina Map is in the 2nd row, 3rd column, in a patch of squares in the top left corner. It has the battle goal of “Win the KO Competition” at level 9, and no rules to hinder your performance. As stated above, it is best to gather all the extra XP boosts you can through potions, weapon skills, and magic bursts if you are able to.
This is a much harder area to get to because you have to get rid of the hazard on the Termina Map first, which is the moon that is falling. Once you get it out of the way, this map can be found up in the top left corner, far away from the rest of the map, so it will be hard to miss. This stage recommends dark-type Warriors if you need any assistance in terms of strength. KO competitions can be a little tough in some stages when they use a really good Warrior’s shadow against you, but you just have to kill things fast. Wide attacks are your friend here.
Why B3 is a Great Farming Spot
- High-Level Stage. This stage is level 9, which gives you slightly more difficult enemies, which will give you a bit more experience.
- Moderately Accomplishable Goal. This goal is fairly easy to accomplish, though if you send a warrior out there that is too weak, it will be harder to make kills and you might fall behind.
- Great for Breaking Weapon Seals. This stage throws enemies at you nonstop, so you can very easily break weapon skill seals here at the same time as leveling up.
How it works:
- Go to the B3 square on the Termina Map. You can reach it in the top-left area of the map only after the hazard is cleared.
- Enter the bazaar and buy a potion. You need 10 silver rank materials in order to buy this potion.
- Pick out the Warrior you are training. It can be anyone, but darkness is recommended at this stage.
- (Bonus) Pick the weapon with the EXP+ skill. This will give you the maximum XP gain.
- Battle. You would benefit from building up your magic gauge while you’re fighting and going wild on your enemies to get the XP boost that offers as well. To win this map, you need to make more kills than the other team once time runs out.
- (Bonus) Die/Fail Repeatedly. This way, you can use the same EXP potion over and over again!
8. D14 in Lorule Map
Hyrule Warriors DE: New EXP Grinding Method (1 level every ~64 seconds!) READ DESCRIPTION
This stage takes a little more prep than the other stages, but this one is especially good for much higher-leveled Warriors to get them from 100 to 255 a lot faster. It is definitely not recommended for early game; this is a late game, getting to the very maximum level kind of stage. As stated above, it is best to gather all the extra XP boosts you can through potions, weapon skills, and magic bursts if you are able to.
This stage requires you to have completed the story mode beforehand and have a level 100+ character you are struggling to level up. It even suggests that you have the very top-tier weapon you can earn for that character to make use of it, as the map is hero-ranked. This is the place to go if you want to 100% your game and completely max out your characters' levels. Otherwise, this stage is a bit too difficult to handle.
Why D14 is a Great Farming Spot
- Special for higher-level characters. This stage has much more EXP gain, which will benefit your Warriors that are at much higher levels. The other maps will start getting much slower once they get past 100.
- Gain levels really fast. According to the video, you can gain 1 level every 64 seconds using this method on this stage. That’s a lot of levels!
- Moderately accomplishable goal. Defeating all the dark versions of a Warrior isn’t too hard. But it’s not as easy as the “Racking up KOs” one.
How it works:
- Go to square D14 on the Lorule Map. This is a difficult tile to get to because the Lorule map has the gimmick of “going between worlds.”
- Prep. Use a map item to get the elemental nice power relating to your Warrior.
- Enter the bazaar and buy a potion. You need 10 silver rank materials in order to buy this potion.
- Pick out the Warrior you are training. It can be anyone, but this is a much harder stage, so it should be someone from level 100 or above.
- Pick the very best weapon you have. It is important that it be combined with the EXP+ skill, the Heart Power skill, and any other skills that increase your attack. This is necessary for this stage.
- Battle. You would benefit from building up your magic gauge while you’re fighting and going wild on your enemies to get the XP boost that offers as well.
- Don’t win. Instead, let yourself fail or die multiple times to use the same EXP-accelerating potion over and over again. While you can do this on other maps, it's best to do it a few times on this one to fully utilize the higher level ups.
- When you're ready, you can finish the mission by defeating all Dark Yugas.
7. C1 in Wind Waker Map
How to Grind Levels in Hyrule Warriors: Definitive Edition
C1 is the square 3rd from the top on the very left edge of the map, with the goal “Rack Up Your KO Count” at level 6, and a rule against using fairies’ magic. As stated above, it is best to gather all the extra XP boosts you can through potions, weapon skills, and magic bursts if you are able to. This stage would be great for much lower-leveled Warriors that you need to bring up to speed with your other Warriors because it won’t be too strong.
This is the much weaker version of H1, which would allow you to help out your much, much weaker Warriors, like those for whom you don’t have adequate badges yet. You would be able to gather plenty of materials here while you level up your character, so you can get them the bronze set of badges that they might be missing. It doesn’t quite have enough materials for silver or gold badges.
Why C1 is a Great Farming Spot
- Not too Difficult. This would be a good spot for your unequipped level 15 Warriors.
- Easy to Accomplish Goal. This stage has a goal that is easy to accomplish and hard to fail.
- Normal Rank Map. This is the third map you unlock, so it is easy to get to and doesn’t have super intricate map rules.
How it works:
- Go to square C1. It is along the left edge of the map in the 3rd row, which might take a little bit of carving at the map to get to.
- Enter the bazaar and buy a potion. You need 10 silver rank materials in order to buy this potion.
- Pick out the Warrior you are training. No element is recommended.
6. E7 in Wind Waker Map
Hyrule Warriors: Definitive Edition - Rupee Farm (Switch)
E7 is actually a Rupee Competition instead of the couple of stages used above. And it's not very high leveled, but I'd like to use it as an example of another leveling up strategy in this game. As stated above, it is best to gather all the extra XP boosts you can through potions, weapon skills, and magic bursts if you are able to.
Farming rupees while leveling up is a two-factor method of character advancement. You would do all the same things during the battle that you would with any of the other maps, but you can include a Rupees+ skill to earn more rupees from the fight as well. Once it is all over and done with, you will also have a good boost of money in order to just buy levels! The magic gauge burst also affects your rupee gain.
Why E7 is a Great Farming Spot
- Two Birds with One Stone. You get the money to jump levels, and you can level up your warrior actively!
- Easy to Accomplish Goal. This stage has a goal that is easy to accomplish and hard to fail. This stage is also only level 5.
- Normal Rank Map. This is the third map you unlock so it is easy to get to and doesn’t have super intricate map rules.
How it works:
- Go to E7 on the Wind Waker Map. It is the 5th row and the 7th column on the map.
- Enter the bazaar and buy a potion. You need 10 silver rank materials in order to buy this potion.
- Pick out the Warrior you are training. It can be anyone, but water and fire is recommended at this stage.
- (Bonus) Pick the weapon with the EXP+ and the Rupees+ skill. This will give you the maximum XP gain, and it will earn you a little more money as well.
- Battle. You would benefit from building up your magic gauge while you’re fighting and going wild on your enemies to get the XP boost that offers as well. You have to win this map to get the rupees.
5. H16 in Master Quest Map
How to Grind Levels in Hyrule Warriors: Definitive Edition
H16 can be found at the very bottom-right corner of the Master Quest map. As stated above, it is best to gather all the extra XP boosts you can through potions, weapon skills, and magic bursts if you are able to. It is also a “Rack up Your KO Count” stage, but this one is at level 9, so it won’t throw enemies that are incredibly strong at you.
This would be another map for Warriors you struggle to use or who you haven’t given adequate badges to yet. There are very few maximum level stages that would be best for leveling up since the others are boss monster-related or have very short goals. Ones at level 12 will be few and far between, so there are some medium-high-leveled ones you can use when your Warrior isn’t the best.
Why H16 is a Great Farming Spot
- Medium Level Stage. 9 is on the higher end of medium, but it isn’t the highest level possible, so you won’t struggle too much.
- Easy to Accomplish Goal. This stage has a goal that is easy to accomplish and hard to fail. Despite the “no healing” rule, you can still get revived by the Hard Worker fairy skill, so keep that in mind if you’re using a very weak Warrior.
- Normal Rank Map. This is the second map you unlock so it is easy to get to and doesn’t have super intricate map rules.
How it works:
- Go to square H16 on the Master Quest Map. It is directly opposite of the H1 square.
- Enter the bazaar and buy a potion. You need 10 silver rank materials in order to buy this potion.
- Pick out the Warrior you are training. It can be anyone, but water is recommended.(Bonus) Pick the weapon with the EXP+ skill. This will give you the maximum XP gain.
- Battle. You would benefit from building up your magic gauge while you’re fighting and going wild on your enemies to get the XP boost that offers as well. To win this map, you just have to survive.
- (Bonus) Die/Fail Repeatedly. This way, you can use the same EXP potion over and over again!
4. F8 in Termina Map
Hyrule Warriors: Definitive Edition - Rupee Farm (Switch)
F8 is a Rupee contest stage at level 6. This one is a bit stronger than the one above, so it might be a little tougher, but you just have to wail on the crowd without really paying attention to much of anything else. Unless you want an A rank, of course. As stated above, it is best to gather all the extra XP boosts you can through potions, weapon skills, and magic bursts if you are able to.
This one is on a map that is a bit harder to traverse, but the stage itself is not very hard. You will take the same tactic as last time, trying to accomplish two goals at once with the rupees and the EXP. There are rupee and EXP gain potions you can take, but it is suggested you take the EXP potion to level up your active character and use a fairy skill to increase rupee gain. The fairy skill and the potion (for the same effect) cannot both be activated.
Why F8 is a Great Farming Spot
- Two Birds with One Stone. You get the money to jump levels, and you can level up your warrior actively!
- Easy to Accomplish Goal. This stage has a goal that is easy to accomplish and hard to fail. This stage is also only level 6.
- Easy to Reach. This stage is very easy to reach from your starting point on the Termina Map.
How it works:
- Go to square F8. It will be the 7th row and the 8th column of the map.
- Enter the bazaar and buy a potion. You need 10 silver rank materials in order to buy this potion.
- Pick out the Warrior you are training. It can be anyone, but darkness is recommended at this stage.
3. C16 in Master Quest Map
How to Grind Levels in Hyrule Warriors: Definitive Edition
This is another KO-racking stage you can take advantage of. This one is just one level under the highest one on this list at level 11. As stated above, it is best to gather all the extra XP boosts you can through potions, weapon skills, and magic bursts if you are able to. This may make it a little less effective than the other one, but this one recommends water instead, which would be helpful for water-type Warriors you might need to level up.
This stage is best utilized by a water-type warrior like King Daphnes or Ruto. You can bring them here for their EXP grinding and get that extra strength boost from the matching elements. It’s a decent level stage, so the EXP gain will be substantial. A lot of these stages, though not directly referenced in the videos, use the exact same tactics referenced.
Why C16 is a Great Farming Spot
- High Level Stage. This stage is level 11, which gives you slightly more difficult enemies that will give you a bit more experience.
- Go to square C16. It will be on the very right edge of the map in the third row.
- Enter the bazaar and buy a potion. You need 10 silver rank materials in order to buy this potion.
- Pick out the Warrior you are training. It can be anyone, but water is recommended.
- (Bonus) Pick the weapon with the EXP+ skill. This will give you the maximum XP gain.
- Battle. You would benefit from building up your magic gauge while you’re fighting and going wild on your enemies to get the XP boost that offers as well. To win this map, you just survive.
- (Bonus) Die/Fail Repeatedly. This way, you can use the same EXP potion over and over again!
2. B16 in Lorule Map
Hyrule Warriors DE: New EXP Grinding Method (1 level every ~64 seconds!) READ DESCRIPTION
This is another stage, much like D14 up above. It is a level 6 “divisive plan” stage, 2 levels higher than the one in the listing above. As stated above, it is best to gather all the extra XP boosts you can through potions, weapon skills, and magic bursts if you are able to. You want to prep the stage with your training Warrior’s recommended element.
Since this stage is a couple levels higher than the other one, it should be a bit more effective in terms of EXP yield. The only issue is that it will be much harder to fight through if you aren’t prepared. Due to the difficulty and such, this stage is also only recommended for Warriors trying to level past 100.
Why B16 is a Great Farming Spot
- Special for higher-level characters. This stage has much more EXP gain, which will benefit your Warriors that are at much higher levels. The other maps will start getting much slower once they get past 100.
- Gain levels really fast. According to the video, you can gain 1 level every 64 seconds using this method on this stage. That’s a lot of levels!
- Moderately accomplishable goal. Defeating all the dark versions of a Warrior isn’t too hard. But it’s not as easy as the “Racking up KOs” one.
How it works:
- Go to square B16 on the Lorule map. It will be located on the far right edge of the second row.
- The mission can be completed by defeating all the Dark Warriors when you are ready to leave.
1. D5 in Termina Map
Hyrule Warriors: Definitive Edition - Rupee Farm (Switch)
This is a rupee competition at level 2. The guide informs you that you fight a bunch of shadow Sheiks here, so you should be wary of them. They can stunlock you with their spammy attacks, and nobody wants that to happen. As stated above, it is best to gather all the extra XP boosts you can through potions, weapon skills, and magic bursts if you are able to.
While this stage is a little harder to get to than most of the other stages here, you can get the most out of your rupee grinding here and get moderate levels out of it as well. Because this kind of stage is focused on doing two things at once, this one won’t be the best for grinding EXP in battle. However, you can level up here while making enough money to jump levels afterwards!
Why D5 is a Great Farming Spot
- Two Birds with One Stone. You get the money to jump levels, and you can level up your warrior actively!
- Easy to Accomplish Goal. This stage has a goal that is easy to accomplish and hard to fail. This stage is also only level 2.
- Low Level. This stage is not too high leveled, so you can smash through it fast. It is more focused on collecting the rupees for level jumping than EXP grinding.
How it works:
- Go to square D5 on the Termina map. You might have to fight your way past a couple squares each time the map resets to get here.
- Enter the bazaar and buy a potion. You need 10 silver rank materials in order to buy this potion.
- Pick out the Warrior you are training. No element is recommended.
