Twirling into battle with her whip and nimble aerobics, Fury lives up to her name by unleashing a swarm of graceful, yet unforgiving combos. 9) Bayonetta

“Bayonetta” Gameplay

Sharing the same director, Hideki Kamiya, Bayonetta is the younger sister game of Devil May Cry. However, in this game players become the gunslinging witch Bayonetta, who has just awoken from a 500-year long sleep. Players will work backwards to figure out what caused Bayonetta’s deep sleep. The combat system is like Devil May Cry, with a battle stage rating system reminiscent to Viewtiful Joe, which was also directed by Kamiya. Bayonetta performs combination using four guns, two in her hands and two in her feet, along with her long hair. Despite the dark concept associated with the game, the game has a flashy and humorous personality that will keep players coming back for more.

8) Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance

“Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance” Gameplay

Since 1964, the Metal Gear series has been captivating players of different generations, and Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance is no different. Taking place chronologically after Metal Gear Solid 4, Revengeance re-introduces players to Raiden, an ex-child solider who is now a cyborg working in the security consulting division of the military. Traditionally, Metal Gear games focus on stealth battling, but that is not the case in this installment. Revengeance can be described more as a traditional hack-and-slash action game, with a new “cutting system” that allows for high levels of precision in and out of battle. Despite its differences, Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance offers players a fun new way to enjoy Metal Gear, while keeping true to its exciting gameplay.

7) Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice

“Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice” Gameplay

Set in Japan during the Sengoku period, Sekiro revolves around a ninja left to die with a severed left arm, following the kidnapping of his lord. Not to worry though, the ninja’s arm was replaced with a prosthetic by a good Samaritan who also names the ninja, Sekiro. This game is unique in respect to traditional action RPG gameplay. There are no HP bars for anyone, because combat focuses on offsetting “balance” enough to strike a killing blow. Despite the limited information available, this game is definitely one to look out for next year.

6) Assassin's Creed Origins

“Assassin’s Creed Origins” Gameplay

Assassin’s Creed Origins is the tenth major title in the Assassin’s Creed series, and it is following 2015’s release of Assassin’s Creed Syndicate. Origins is set in Egypt and follows the journey of Bayek, as he tries to protect his Kingdom’s people from outside attacks. Unlike previous games, Origins uses a “hit-box” battle system which allows players to engage in a more organic battle, where they can target specific body parts or completely miss the enemy when striking. The classic “eagle mode” has also been enhanced to allow players to take control of the eagle, scout areas ahead of time, and show where all enemies are located. Even though the Assassin’s Creed series has been around for a while, Origins shows that developers are still finding ways to make the game feel completely brand new.

5) Final Fantasy XV

“Final Fantasy XV” Gameplay

Set in the world of Eos, Final Fantasy XV follows the adventure of crown prince Noctis and his friends, as they go to retrieve an important crystal stolen from his Kingdom. One of the most notable aspects of this game, is the ability to travel through the open world map in a very cool looking car called the “Regalia”. The game’s battle system focuses on a more organic method of fighting, so there is no battle menu, instead players attack using pre-determined controller buttons. Battles also take place in the current environment, as opposed to players being transported to a separate battle screen. Final Fantasy XV takes players on the road trip of a lifetime, giving the classic series a very modern twist.

Warframe is a mission-based game, including a set of main storyline missions, and the ability for co-op play. The game boasts powerful combos that make for an entertaining time, and as the game continues to update, there is plenty of content to keep players occupied.

3) DmC: Devil May Cry

“DmC: Devil May Cry” Gameplay

Despite its name, DmC looks quite different from the original Devil May Cry, since it is an outsourced reboot. DmC is set in an alternate reality from the namesake series and follows a re-imagined Dante as he goes on a mission to kill the Demon King. Players can perform combos using Dante’s classic sword and guns, as well as engage in Angel/Devil mode. Angel/Devil mode are battle modifiers that change the way Dante’s weapons attack, as well as changing his inherent abilities. Don’t jump into this game expecting an exact replica of Devil May Cry, but do expect the same level of content, storyline, and engaging combat.

Robots are now in the majority and are on a mission to get rid of the rest of the surviving humans. Players take control of a man named Monkey, as he is forced to accompany a girl named Trip to her home after she enslaves him with a headband. Monkey’s primary battle weapon is a projectile staff which is handy for close combat, and distance fighting.
