Trapper is one of the most basic, however iconic killers in the game of dead by daylight. He is a killer that is presented on every cover of the dead by daylight game due to the scary-like appearance with which Trapper presents himself as. Although, in the game, he might look like an easy killer to play against due to the easy controls, be prepared to get downed and injured at any moment on the map, where one mistake might lead you to one of his traps, where a place which looks safe, will lure you into his willingness.

5. The Hunter Trapper Build

Dead by Daylight gameplay by EverCrumpet

The Hunter Trapper Build is a build that will not allow any escape for the survivors who are trying to wiggle out from the killer's grasp, as the combination of the perks that are included in the build will make it highly unlikely to do so, especially with the perk 'Iron Grasp', which will increase the wiggle progression by a maximum of 12%.

Nonetheless, with perks such as "save the best for last", you will be able to have faster successful attacks, which is effective when carrying a survivor as you will be able to hit any survivors who are in the way, which is extremely effective, and will only affect a small proportion of not hooking the survivor, making it a great build for anti-wiggling, and hunting whilst carrying.

What the Hunter Trapper Build Excels In:

  • The combination of Iron Grasp, Agitation and Mad Grit will make it impossible for the survivor to wiggle out from the killer's grasp, making it one of the most powerful anti-wiggling combinations in the game.
  • With the perk save the best for last, it is a useful perk that will allow for faster in-game progress whilst hitting survivors and can be particularly useful when hitting a survivor whilst carrying one, which of course, will increase the chances of hooking the survivor in time.

Build details & perks:

  • Agitation: While carrying a Survivor, you benefit from the following effects: Increases your Carrying Movement speed by 6/12/18 %. Increases your Terror Radius by 12 metres.
  • Save the best for last: Each time you hit a Survivor other than your Obsession with a Basic Attack, Save the Best for Last gains 1 Token, up to a maximum of 8 Tokens: Gain a stack-able 5 % Cool-down reduction on successful attacks per Token, up to a maximum of 40 %. Each time you hit your Obsession with a Basic Attack, Save the Best for Last loses 4/3/2 Tokens. When the Obsession is sacrificed or killed, you can neither gain nor lose any more Tokens.
  • Iron Grasp: While carrying a Survivor, you benefit from the following effects: Decreases Wiggle effects, which cause you to strafe sideways by 75 %. Increases Wiggle duration by 4/8/12 %.
  • Mad Grit: Successfully hitting a Survivor will pause the carried Survivor's Wiggling Progression for 2/3/4 seconds.

4. Suprise Camouflage Trapper Build

Dead by Daylight gameplay by not Otzdarva

The Suprise Camouflage Trapper Build is a build that has been specially designed to play undercover, in other words, being able to play smart with the following perks. For instance, with the perk Znshin Tactics, you will be able to place traps in places where there are windows and pallets, as these would be the most attentive places where the survivors would most likely go when going into a chase, which is highly advantageous, as it will cut down any chase time.

Otherwise, other perks such as deerstalker and dragon's grip will allow you to go for further survivor damage and is highly effective when going into the snowballing mode, making it one of the great incognito builds that require the least amount of effort.

What the Suprise Camouflage Trapper Build Excels In:

  • With Deerstalker, it will be easier to find survivors who are down on the floor, and it is useful when going for a tunnelling spree or in situations where other survivors stood on your traps; when caught and hooked, you can come back to the previous survivor and hook them as well without losing them.
  • The perk Zanshin Tactics is a perk that will make it much easier for the killer to place traps, as seeing windows or pallets, these are the places that survivors will more likely enter when in a chase, and therefore you can close them off with the traps and then hook them.

Build details & perks:

  • Insidious: Grants the Undetectable Status Effect after standing still for 4/3/2 seconds and until you are moving again.
  • Deerstalker: The Auras of all Survivors in the Dying State within 20/28/36 metres of your location are revealed to you.
  • Dragon's grip: After kicking a Generator, for the next 30 seconds, the first Survivor interacting with it will scream, revealing their location for 4 seconds, and suffers from the Exposed  Status Effect for 60 seconds. Dragon's Grip has a cool-down of 120/100/80 seconds.
  • Zanshin Tactics: The Auras of Breakable Walls, Pallets, and Windows are revealed to you within 24/28/32 metres.

3. The No Repair Trapper Build

Dead by Daylight gameplay by RedsGamingGears

The No Repair Trapper Build is a build that focuses on slowing down the game massively in ways that the survivors will struggle with, especially when healing each other or repairing the generators. For the survivors to avoid the cost of doing that, they would require cleansing the hexes, which makes it hard for them to focus and progress in the game.

However, to make this build even better, it includes perks which cannot be resolved by the survivors, like perks such as Thanatophobia and Scourge Hook: Gift of Pain, which affects the speed penalty without having to use any hexes, nonetheless, making this one of the most highly progress effective builds in the game for the survivors.

What the No Repair Trapper Build Excels In:

  • With Hex: Plaything, it will make it a nightmare for the survivors once they get off the hook; where in this situation, they would have to find their hex totems; otherwise, it would leave them cursed and oblivious, making it harder for you to be aware of the killer, as, in this situation, you would not be able to hear the killer's terror radius.
  • With the perks Thanatophobia and Scourge Hook: Gift of Pain, it will make it harder for the survivors to progress within the game, as there will be massive penalty skill checks, and it will be much slower with the progress with healing and repairing generators.

Build details & perks:

  • Thanatophobia: Each injured, dying, or hooked Survivor afflicts Survivors with a stackable 1/1.5/2 % Action Speed penalty to Repairing, Sabotaging, and Cleansing, up to a maximum of 4/6/8 %. Increases the Action Speed penalty by  12 % if  4 Survivors are injured, dying, or hooked simultaneously.
  • Hex: Plaything: If at least one Dull Totem remains in the Trial Grounds, Hex: Plaything activates on a random Totem each time a Survivor is hooked for the first time: The hooked Survivor suffers from the Cursed and Oblivious Status Effects until Hex: Plaything is cleansed. For the first 90 seconds, only the Cursed Survivor can cleanse the Hex Totem. The Aura of Hex: Plaything's Hex Totem is revealed to the Cursed Survivor within 24/20/16 metres. The Hex effects persist until its Hex Totem is cleansed.
  • Scourge Hook: Gift of Pain: At the start of the Trial, four random Hooks are changed into Scourge Hooks: The Auras of Scourge Hooks are revealed to you in white. Each time a Survivor is unhooked from a Scourge Hook, the following effects apply: The Survivor suffers from the Haemorrhage and Mangled  Status Effects until healed. Upon being healed, the Survivor suffers a 10/13/16 % Action Speed penalty to Healing and Repairing until they are injured again.
  • Hex: Thrill of the Hunt: For each Totem remaining in the environment, Hex: Thrill of the Hunt gains 1 Token. Survivors suffer a stackable 8/9/10 % Action Speed penalty per Token to Cleansing and Blessing, up to  40/45/50 %. Grants a stackable 10 % bonus Bloodpoints for actions in the Hunter  Category per Token, up to 50 %. The Hex effects persist until its Hex Totem is cleansed.

2. The Universal Life of Trapper Build

Dead by Daylight gameplay by not Otzdarva

The Universal Life of Trapper Build focuses on the universality of Trapper, allowing to use the perks effectively and savvy, depending on the gameplay style. First of all, this build includes the perk 'Corrupt Intervention', which allows for the three generators that are located furthest away to be blocked by the entity, which then would allow the Trapper to place any necessary traps in those blocked places, as it would be highly unlikely the survivors would be there then, and of course, once the generators are unblocked, there is a higher possibility of the survivors stepping on those traps, and therefore allowing you to snowball the game, when the survivors step on the traps one by one.

Nonetheless, it also includes perks such as Deadlock and No way out, which will slow down the game even more, creating more time for the survivors as well by stepping on those placed traps, and therefore, allowing you to increase the chance of winning based on those tactics, making it one of the best anti-progress accurate trap builds in the game, which I would personally recommend using.

What the Universal Life of Trapper Build Excels in:

  • With corrupt intervention, it will be highly advantageous, especially with a killer such as Trapper, that will have a lot of time to place the traps in places where the generators are blocked, and therefore, with an increased possibility of the survivors stepping on those traps because they will have no clue that the traps were placed there in the first place.
  • With Deadlock, you will be able to see the generator which has been blocked the most and, therefore, also see the aura, which will allow you to have the time to pop the generator and perhaps place traps in the place around the generator, with the more likeliness of the survivors to step on the traps.

Build details & perks:

  • Deadlock: Whenever a Generator is completed, The Entity blocks the Generator with the most progression for 20/25/30 seconds. The Aura of the blocked Generator is revealed to you in white during this time.
  • No way out: For each Survivor, you hook for the first time, and No Way Out gains 1 Token. Once the Exit Gates have been powered, No Way Out activates: When a Survivor interacts with an Exit Gate Switch, you receive a Loud Noise Notification, and The Entity blocks both Exit Gate Switches for 12 seconds and an additional 6/9/12 seconds per Token in your possession, up to a combined maximum of 36/48/60 seconds.
  • Corrupt Intervention: At the start of the Trial, the 3 Generators located farthest from you are blocked by The Entity for 80/100/120 seconds. Corrupt Intervention deactivates prematurely once the first Survivor is put into the Dying State.

1. The Stalking Trapper Build

Dead by Daylight gameplay by PotatoLegion

The Stalking Trapper Build is a build which brings 'universality' to the next level, using the perks that suit the power of the Trapper in ways which you will maximise the chance of winning the game. The build includes perks that will slow down the game for the survivors and, at the same time, be fairly aggressive to the survivors, whilst using perks such as Agitation and Save the Best for Last would increase the chances of attacking.

Nevertheless, one of the best anti-progression perks of this build would be 'Pop goes the weasel', which will allow you to damage the generator -20%, which is extremely effective, especially when the generator is in most progress; in conclusion making this one of the best universal builds in this game which would support all weakened areas for the killer.

What the Stalking Trapper Build Excels in:

  • With the perk, pop goes the weasel; it is a great perk that will allow you to kick the generator with instant damage of -20%, which then is highly effective when kicking the generator with the most progress, which then would slow down the progress on the survivors' side, and increase your chance of winning.
  • With the combination perks of "save the best for last" and agitation, you will have the ability to increase your movement speed to

Build details & perks:

  • Agitation: While carrying a Survivor, you benefit from the following effects: Increases your Carrying Movement speed by 6/12/18 %.Increases your Terror Radius by 12 metres.
  • Pop goes the weasel: After hooking a Survivor, Pop Goes the Weasel activates for the next 35/40/45 seconds: The next Generator you damage instantly loses -20 % of its current Progression. Regular Generator Regression applies afterwards, and Pop Goes the Weasel deactivates.
  • Corrupt Intervention: At the start of the Trial, the 3 Generators located farthest from you are blocked by The Entity for 80/100/120 seconds. Corrupt Intervention deactivates prematurely once the first Survivor is put into the Dying State.
