The Dwemer - the once most powerful race in Tamriel
The Dwemer as conceptualized by a fan
The Dwemer are one of the most mysterious races in The Elder Scrolls lore especially since no one of the modern era have ever seen them, save for a few people of the Falion. The Dwemer were the most technologically advanced race of the Mer to grace Tamriel. They are also known as deep elves or dwarves although this is misleading as the Dwemer were no shorter than the human races. Little is known of how they broke off from the Altmeri elves and how they settled in Morrowind and Skyrim. One of the most enigmatic occurrences in The Elder Scrolls series is the disappearance of this race, the Dwemer. The next installment in The Elder Scrolls series should at least try to tackle some of these mysteries and questions surrounding the Dwemer:

What Exactly Happened to the Dwemer
This a question most game theorists are bamboozled with. In the first era, the Dwemer were living in Morrowind but had a number of their underground cities in Skyrim. However, the Atmorans (later to be known as the Nords), in their conquest for land, drove the Dwemer during the Atherium wars. The Nords and the Chimer (later to be known as Dark Elves) formed an alliance to fight off the Nords who were fast advancing in Morrowind.
However, that alliance did not hold for long after fending off the Nords as the two Elven races started warring again. This war became known as the battle of Red Mountain, the war in Vvardenfell in Morrowind, near the famous Red Mountain. The Chimer were winning but when they were almost killing the Dwemer King, the Dwemer chief tonal architect did a ritual on the with the Heart of Lorkhan and the remaining Dwemer disappeared- *poof*. All the Dwemer disappeared without a trace. This is just a very brief summary of how the Dwemer disappeared from Tamriel in the first era during the War of Red Mountain.

We theorists have come up with a number of theories as what happened to the Dwemer, one of them being that they were teleported to another plane of existence. Before the war, the Dwemer were deep in pursuit of immortality and godhood and they believed that they had almost achieved their goal when they obtained the Heart of Lorkhan in the volcanic Red Mountain.
When Kagrenac- the Dwemer chief tonal- harnessed the power of the Heart of Lorkhan, the entire Dwemer raced and we theorized that most likely the Dwemer achieved the goal of achieving immortality and were teleported to a different plane. In this plane, they are most likely living as immortals and they soon might make a return to Mundus (Mundus is the plane or realm of existence that encompasses Nirn, its moons, and attendant Aedric planets). However, this theory can only be confirmed in the next Elder Scrolls video game installment.

The Dwemer Could Make For Powerful Antagonist
The Dwemer were known for their selfish, ruthless and arrogant nature. The Dwemer saw the Aedra and Daedra as meaningless and the nine (or eight) divines as irrelevant in their pursuit for knowledge. However, they had their gods but they considered themselves above them. This is evidence for their arrogance. Also when their cousins, the snow elves, asked them for help against the Atmorans, the Dwemer instead betrayed and enslaved them.
The Dwemer hence had their own slave race who helped them in their technological advancement. These two incidents are just a tip of the iceberg of how the Dwemer can be ruthless and this what makes a very antagonist. So in The Elder Scrolls VI, the Dwemer can make a return in Tamriel and start conquering Tamriel. This will indeed make for an awesome story in the Elder scrolls VI.

The above two are reasons why The Elder Scrolls VI should be about the Dwemer.
