Time travel is something that many people have dreamed of doing, but, as far as we know, nobody’s actually managed to do it yet. However, as virtual reality becomes an ever-growing part of the gaming world, the opportunity to time travel in VR is something that is potentially worth looking into.
‘Wanderer’ has been developed specifically for VR, and its entire theme is time-travel, with the game’s storyline following a series of events spanning across the history of the earth and having a major impact on modern life, or potentially, a distinct lack of modern life…
Players play as Asher Neumann, the main protagonist in ‘Wanderer’. The story starts off with Asher going on a journey to find his grandfather’s missing apartment. How an entire apartment could just go missing is not entirely clear, but hey, if time travel is possible, anything is, right?
In his attempt to find the lost apartment, Asher discovers a strange wristwatch. It turns out that this particular wristwatch possesses remarkable powers, granting Asher the ability to travel through time and space.
With the discovery of this new ability, the responsibility of preventing global catastrophe by altering the past, or rather, making sure that it stays the same, falls to Asher.
Players must travel through time and complete a series of ‘escape-room style puzzles’, as well as a variety of ‘hands-on interactions’ and challenges to ensure that history does not go haywire and cause the collapse of modern civilization.
‘Wanderer’ is developed by ‘M-Theory’ and ‘Oddboy’, with an unforgettable VR experience being the focus of the game, which is available on Steam.
