Environmental awareness and being eco-friendly have become a major thing in modern times, as people are attempting to prevent abuse and overuse of the Earth and the resources it provides to humanity.
‘Skabma Snowfall’ explores a similar theme, set against a backdrop of ancient Nordic culture and indigenous Sámi stories. In ‘Skabma Snowfall’ players step into the shoes of a young reindeer herder called Áilu.
A strange disease breaks out near Áilu’s village, harming people, plants, earth, and animals alike. Áilu discovers an ancient drum that belonged to the ancient Sámi ‘Noadis,’ who were healers for the Sámi people.
Players must use the power of the drum to find the ‘Four Familiar Spirits’ that will each grant players unique abilities related to the four primary elements, fire, earth, water, and air.
Players must explore the open world, using the power of their drum and their four spirits to track down invisible elements, spirits, trees, and collectibles which they can use to solve puzzles and progress through the story in their fight against the disease, known as ‘The Disorder’ that is destroying Sámiland and its people.
‘Skabma Snowfall’ takes players on an epic adventure through a northern world and a spiritual realm rich in Sámi culture and secrets, stories, and unique features of their culture and society. According to developers, the game includes “traditional Sámi yoik-singing from award-winning Hildá Länsman.”
‘Skabma Snowfall’ is developed by ‘PID Games’ and will be released on Steam at a date that is still to be announced.
