For the most part, the boundaries between reality and imagination are quite clearly defined. However, lack of sleep, alcohol abuse, substance abuse, or perhaps certain medical conditions, can sometimes cause the boundaries between reality and imagination to blur.
The real question is, what if the boundaries blurred, not just for the odd individual here and there, but on a large scale? Perhaps even globally? What then?
‘MONARK’ throws players into a world where reality at the Shin Mikado Academy in Japan has become tarnished by a mass madness known as ‘The Mist’. The only way of defeating this ‘Mist’ that is causing so much self-destruction and chaos lies in an alternate dimension known as the ‘Otherworld.’
The ‘Otherworld’ is not simply an imaginary dimension, but a real alternate dimension filled with darkness, daemons, fiends, and other creatures of darkness. Players must enter this realm, in-game of course, and gather together an army of fiends to help them fight the forces driving Shin Mikado Academy to mad self-destruction.
The ones behind the ‘Mist’ are known as the ‘Pactbearers’ and are using forces within the ‘Otherworld’ to cause the chaos and madness running rampant at the Academy. Players must grow their egos to boost the strength and power of their fiends.
They must embrace the madness that is trying to consume them and harness its power against the ‘Pactbearers,’ being careful not to let it consume them and destroy them.
‘MONARK’ is developed by FURYU Corporation and is available on Steam.
