Fighting for freedom is a practice as old as the mountains, and the world has seen plenty of revolutions, freedom movements, and resistance movements against oppressive powers to prove this.
The French Revolution is an iconic revolution of great historical significance due to its violence and utter brutality against French Royalty.
‘Liberte’ revives the idea of the French Revolution in a “Lovecraftian,” “rogue-like” game set in an “alternate-history,” according to its developers. The revolution has toppled the ruler of France and in Paris, four primary factions fight for control of the city, and ultimately, the country. The four battling factions are the:
- Tribe
- Crown
- Congregation
- Rebels
Each faction seeks to rule in Paris for its own particular reasons, and each faction has its own agenda that it wishes to carry out, believing that ruling in Paris will give it the platform it needs to push its agenda.
Players can choose to help whichever factions they want to. Their primary mission, however, is rather more serious. According to developers, LadyBliss brought players’ characters back to life to serve her, and she requires them to discover and fight the dark power turning Parisians into zombies.
In ‘Liberte’ players are able to use a wide range of different skills, weapons, and abilities as they expand their deck of cards and build it to match their ideal playstyle. Their abilities and playstyles can be built on 4 base specializations, namely, ‘Whiskey Firebreath,’ ‘Cutthroat,’ ‘Pistolier,’ and ‘Stage Artist,’ with each having unique powers and abilities.
‘Liberte’ is developed by ‘SuperStatic’ and is on Steam.
