The popular YouTube channel, ‘How It Should Have Ended’ recently had another hit with their newest animated parody of the popular 2017 summer blockbuster Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, sequel to the 2014 surprise hit Guardians of the Galaxy. The video, titled ‘How Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 Should Have Ended’ has amassed over 2.3 million views on YouTube.

In fact, the video was such a hit, that Guardians of the Galaxy director James Gunn actually left a comment on the video saying, “Haha love it.”

‘How Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 Should Have Ended’ satirizes a few different scenes in the movie including, as the title would suggest, the ending. It sort of offers a comedic take on the idea of what if something different happened in a few scenes from the film.

For instance, the first joke in the video spoofs the well-known scene in the film with Rocket (Bradley Cooper) telling Baby Groot (Vin Diesel) not to push the button that will blow up the planet. The joke here is that Baby Groot just pushes the button right away.

‘How It Should Have Ended’ (or HISHE) posted the video on August 10, and it so far has 2,377,981 views and 111,917 likes as of the writing of the article. The video also currently has over 8,400 comments.

HISHE has been on YouTube for 10 years now and has gained over 7.1 million subscribers. The majority of their videos have the same premise as this one. They make animated parodies of different popular movies, especially the endings of these movies. This video is the twelfth episode of their ninth season.

The series was originally about just spoofing the endings of films. But they expanded the concept as the years went on.

HISHE likely released the video now to coincide with the upcoming DVD and Blu-ray release of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, which is Aug. 22.
