Many post-apocalyptic survival games either involve hordes of ravenous zombies, the aftermath of nuclear devastation, or both.

But what if the apocalypse wasn’t a nuclear disaster, wasn’t zombies, wasn’t even global warming? What if the apocalypse was the entire planet freezing over? What then?

‘Frigid’ takes on a fresh perspective when it comes to the apocalypse, thinking cold rather than hot, zombified animals rather than people. According to developers, the game is inspired by ‘The Thing.’

Players are cast into the freezing Canadian arctic, investigating strange findings by researchers that were investigating a form of contamination in the glaciers and struggling to survive in the frigid environment.

Players must explore the arctic, scavenging materials and gather resources that they can use for fire, shelter, and protection against the elements and the creatures that hunt them. ‘Frigid’ includes real-life Arctic locations such as the Arctic Base Station which can be scavenged for materials and supplies.

The single-player campaign requires players to survive and to find out what the researchers discovered and find help to fight it or survive it.

‘Frigid’ is developed by ‘Celeritas Games,’ and is scheduled for release on Steam in 2022, with a playable demo currently available to download from Steam.
