When it comes to real-life ‘horror’ stories, or rather, horrifying events that caused incredible suffering, pain, and loss of human life, the Chernobyl nuclear power plant disaster is right up there. The Chernobyl Exclusion Zone, with its destroyed buildings and eerie abandoned buildings, parks, and funfairs sets the perfect stage for a survival horror RPG.
The developers of ‘Chernobylite’ survival horror RPG saw the potential of the Chernobyl Exclusion Zone as a setting for a horror story and brought it to life in ‘Chernobylite.’ According to developers, ‘Chernobylite’ was created with 3-D scanned images of the Chernobyl Exclusion Zone, creating a mirror replica of the real deal for an authentic experience.
Players return to the exclusion zone as a former physicist working at the power plant whose fiancee disappeared at the time of the disaster. As they explore the Exclusion Zone in search of the truth, players must avoid high-radiation areas, fighting to survive attacks by enemy military forces and supernatural beings that haunt the ruins of Chernobyl and Pripyat.
To survive, players must build a base in the zone where they can shelter, resupply, and recover from their encounters with radiation pockets, enemies, and supernatural beings. Successfully finding the truth will require perfect strategy and careful decision-making.
Every decision players make will have an impact on the outcome of the story, adding a complex RPG element to the game that will make players think twice before they make any major decisions.
‘Chernobylite’ is developed by ‘The Farm 51,’ and is available on Steam.
