Call of Duty Vanguard launched on 5 November 2021, and Call of Duty has called on players to provide feedback on their experience and favorite maps so far.

The initial player response to the game was very mixed, with significant numbers of complaints about a variety of similar issues.

Firstly, there were quite a number of complaints about game freezes. There were also a number of complaints about broken in-game audio, and footsteps not coming through on the audio as they should, such as this comment by @ FrathosCan:

“Wow...how do you guys release a game with such obvious broken features?

- can't hear enemy footsteps

- attack dogs survive whole AR clip

- Quick Setup Audio Tests don't work (how do you fuck up something this easy?)”

There were also a large number of complaints that the zombies were no fun and pretty much a terrible experience: “Worst zombies game ever in the history of call of duty. I'v played all call of duty zombies and this is by far the worst of them all. I guess ill be spending this year on cold war again.”

There were complaints about a variety of other issues, but game freezes, bugs, bad zombies, and connection issues were the most common.

When asked for a response regarding their favorite map, most players replied in one of two primary ways. They either said that that all the maps were too “camp” inducive, meaning they make it too easy for players to sit and camp, or that their favorite map was “Das Hous”

Judging by current player opinion, there is still quite a bit of work to do to make players happy. However, it is still early days and Call of Duty Vanguard’s long-term popularity still hangs in the balance.
