Thank you, 2015, for another good year in gaming.

As 2015 enters its final few months let’s take a look back over some of the great games that have come out this year.

1. Shadowrun: Hong Kong

Hong Kong is a beautiful but dangerous city.

Shadowrun: Hong Kong is the third game in the series to be developed by Harebrained Schemes. In this installment you are placed away to the great city of Hong Kong – a vocal center of criminal activity and political strings. This latest installment also comes with an updated level editor, which allows players to create their own adventures and share them online and other improvements such as sound, music transitions, and Inventory UI. Shadowrun: Hong Kong is definitely another great installment in HS’ series – and one that I think will satisfy fans of the Shadowrun IP.

2. Resident Evil: Remastered

Death lurkes behind every corner.

Back in 2002 the original Resident Evil received an amazing remake that updated the graphics, dialogue, and also added new enemies, environments, and challenges. Now this remake has been moved up to multiple current consoles so a new generation may get to experience the horrors that lurk inside.

Although it wasn’t as credited as much compared to the other installments, Resident Evil Remake is perhaps my favorite title in the series to date – just because of all the amazing upgrades they made over the original. Hopefully this remaster will give the game a higher reputation which I think it deserves.

3. I Shall Remain

There's something suspicious here.

I Shall Remain is a unique combination of action role-playing, survival, and strategy. Set in a post-apocalyptic future caused by the Nazis, two brothers must fight for survival – and it is up to you to determine how they will survive. Like in other role-playing titles you must make choices that will affect the story – so be careful on the actions you take.

4. Grand Theft Auto 5

Just another day in the life of crime.

GTV 5 is the biggest and most expansive of the series. The story swaps back and forth between three major protagonists as they cause havoc and chaos throughout the city of Los Santos and the countryside. As with any other GTA title you can spend hours doing various activities and upgrading your characters’ skills.

5. Victor Vran

Things are going to get real intense, real quick.

Victor Vran is an intense isometric role-playing title packed with dozens of enemies, weapons, gear, and special moves. Gameplay can be tacked either solo or with a co-op partner. So if you’re an RPG gamer who prefers things more on the action side, Victor Vran is one of the many fun titles on the market to get you covered.

6. Invisible, Inc.

It's hard work being a secret agent.

Invisible, Inc. is a unique take on the spy espionage genre in gaming. If you enjoyed other titles like Alpha Protocol – Invisible, Inc. will offer more of the same open-ended spy action. The title features multiple modes and characters to play as – with each being customizable to the player’s liking.

7. Satellite Reign

There's nothing in sight.

Satellite Reign puts players in a 4 member squad team as they explore a large open city and participate in real-time strategy. In traditional cyberpunk style the city is controlled by shadow mega-corporations and it’s up to the players to work together in attempt to uncover their true motivations and bring them to light.

8. Technobabylon

Welcome to the cyber age.

In the world of Technobabylon an all seeing police is keeping tabs on everybody and an overlord AI controls the city. But for three particular people, they must go on a journey to protect themselves and unravel conspiracies that may place everybody in danger. Technobabylon is a dark tale of big brother and the advancing world of technology – for good and bad.

9. Grim Fandango: Remastered

A classic cover for a classic noir adventure.

This year Grim Fandango received an update that improved the graphic quality greatly and added mouse control. You can also play with the original quality if you wish to experience the title as it originally was back in 1999.

Grim Fandango is a classic dark comedy-noir set in the afterlife with you taking the role of Manny and going on a four year adventure with your good friend as you two set out to find a client Manny has sent away.

10. Life is Strange

Life is strange, so relax by the ocean.

Life is a deeply character driven episodic series made up of five parts – and involves making decisions that will have a major impact on the story and the characters. A couple of unique hooks for the title are the hand-painted visuals and a non-liner timeline affected by your actions.

11. The Detail

Investigating murders is dirty buisness, but someone's got to do it.

The Detail is a gritty crime episodic drama inspired by television shows such as The Wire and various graphic novels. The story is told in five episodes, each involving the player taking the roles of two characters – with both of them struggling to deal with their own troubles.

One of the unique hooks about The Detail is its promotion as in interactive comic – and it does truly feel like one. For fans of realistic crime drama and emotionally driven stories, The Detail is a gem you should pick up and experience.
