Various types of alcohol can be found just about anywhere in Yakuza 0, and drinking it offers some unique side effects.

Being drunk out on the streets can mean danger for you, as roving gangs, Yakuza, and Mr. Shakedown are more likely to notice you and start a fight.

If you are playing as Kiryu, fighting is even more amped up when you are drunk and you have the “Drunkards’ Secret” abilities in the Brawler style equipped. This line of abilities gives Kiryu huge boosts in health and attack power as long as he is drunk.

Drinking will also affect how well you play darts, as the room will repeatedly shift out of focus, and you will not be able to aim very well. These effects are amplified when your alcohol level is in the red zone.

Keep reading for more information on the best alcoholic drinks in Yakuza 0, so you can get in on the drunken fun in the game.

5. Scotch Whisky

The Scotch whisky is not cheap.

The Scotch Whisky is a bit more expensive than a regular beer in Yakuza 0, but it packs more of a punch.

This means that you can drink fewer drinks to raise your alcohol level.

It is easily found in shops in Kamurocho, and you can store the booze in your inventory to carry around with you when you need it.

This is sometimes handier than having a drink at one of the bars because it is less time-consuming, and you can always have some at the ready.

Scotch Whisky is an excellent choice of alcohol to carry with you, especially if you are playing as Kiryu in the Brawler fighting style with Drunkard’s Secret abilities that give you powerful boosts for being drunk.

Why Scotch Whisky Is Great:

  • Potent, so you can drink less to fill up your alcohol gauge
  • More expensive than other alcohol, but easy to obtain
  • Portable, so you can stock up in your inventory and always have some ready to use

How to get Scotch Whisky: Purchase from the Poppo on Showa Street for 2,500 yen.

4. Courvoisier XO

This here's the real deal.

Courvoisier XO is a smooth brandy you can purchase at the Shellac bar.

This alcohol is not extremely expensive, and it packs a punch while providing an air of sophistication.

The Courvoisier XO is also one of the many alcohols in Yakuza 0 that exists in real life, and there is a lot of attention to detail in the bottle and label design to make it as realistic as possible.

This is one alcohol you have to purchase by the drink, so you will not be able to stock up on this one and keep it in your inventory.

However, the friendly bartender at Shellac will serve you at least two drinks before cutting you off, depending on how full your alcohol meter is.

Why Courvoisier XO Is Great:

  • Inexpensive and fills your alcohol meter quickly
  • Based on an actual alcohol, with excellent attention to detail in the design

How to get Courvoisier XO: Purchase from the bartender at Shellac for 1,200 yen.

3. Ballantine Aged 17 Years

This is "the" Scotch, do you understand?

Art once again imitates real life with the Ballantine Aged 17 Years scotch in Yakuza 0.

While it is more expensive than the regular bottle of Ballantine, this version packs more of a punch, so you don’t have to drink as much of it to fill your alcohol meter.

The bottle is designed true to life, down to the finest details on the label.

This scotch has a similar potency to the Scotch Whisky found at Poppo, but it is only sold in bars so you are not able to stock up and keep some in your inventory for later.

Why Ballantine Aged 17 Years Is Great:

  • This is a strong alcohol, so your alcohol gauge will fill quickly
  • Designed to be true to the real-life version
  • Less expensive than the Scotch Whisky at Poppo

How to get Ballantine Aged 17 Years scotch: Purchase from the barkeeper at Vincent for 900 yen per drink.

This one is very popular in Kamurocho.

Yamazaki Single Malt Whisky Aged 12 Years is a very popular alcohol in parts of Japan, so it is no surprise it was included in Yakuza 0.

This is one of the least expensive, yet potent, alcohols available in the game, and it is available at most of the bars in Kamurocho.

This alcohol is also only available through the bars, and you will not be able to keep this one in your inventory for later.

The Yamazaki Single Malt does a decent job of filling your alcohol meter, and it is strong enough to linger for a while. This will give you enough time to hunt for Mr. Shakedown and engage in a drunken brawl with Kiryu’s special Brawler abilities.

Why Yamazaki Single Malt Whisky Aged 12 Years Is Great:

  • One of the least expensive of the high-end bar drinks
  • A potent alcohol that will fill your alcohol meter quickly
  • Available at most of the bars in Kamurocho

How to get Yamazaki Single Malt Whisky Aged 12 Years: Purchase at Earth Angel for 800 yen per drink.

1. Gold Champagne

For that price, it better be made from solid gold.

The Gold Champagne is easily the most expensive alcohol in Yakuza 0 at the cost of 20,000 yen.

There really isn’t anything special about this alcohol, and it will only fill your meter as much as the regular Champagne.

However, the Gold Champagne becomes very useful during the main storyline in Chapter 2.

You will be tasked with finding out information from some homeless people, and they will each request a certain type of alcohol in exchange for giving you the information you need.

If you give the Gold Champagne to the homeless person who asks for Champagne, you will unlock the “Rich In Taste” trophy achievement. The only time you will be able to unlock this achievement is during this mission, so be sure to get the Gold Champagne.

Why Gold Champagne Is Great:

  • It is the only alcohol that will unlock an achievement (Rich In Taste)
  • Easy to acquire, although expensive

How to get the Gold Champagne: Buy at the Don Quijote in Kamurocho for 20,000 yen.
