Flying type Pokemon can be difficult to defeat in battles, gyms, and raids! However, there are special types of pocket monsters that make excellent opponents!
(Flying types are weak against ice, electric, and rock types.) I chose the following Pokemon as the best to defeat flying type of pocket monsters: Cloyster, Electivire, Glaceon, Raichu, and Rhyperior. Read on to find out why I have selected the fab five against flying type Pokemon!
5. Cloyster
Don't get caught in his bad frost breath!
Starting off this list is Cloyster! Also known as the Bivalve Pokemon, this dual type ice and water Gen 1 pocket monster from the Kanto region can battle with the best of them! The Pokedex states that “Cloyster is capable of swimming in the sea. It does so by swallowing water, then jetting it out toward the rear. 4. Electivire
This Pokemon is a live wire!
Electivire, a Gen 4 pocket monster from the Sinnoh region, is an electric type that will shock flying type Pokemon right out of the air! 3. Glaceon
Glaceon can cause an avalanche of trouble!
I know first-hand that Glaceon, an ice type Pokemon, is an excellent opponent against flying type Pokemon! This icy Gen 4 pocket monster from the Sinnoh region will freeze out several types of opponents. The Pokedex states that "It can instantaneously freeze any moisture that's around it, creating ice pellets to shoot at its prey." Why Glaceon Is Great Against Flying
- Best movesets for Glaceon are Avalanche and Frost Breath with 15.27 DPS.
- Combat scores are strong, with 238 on Offense, 205 on Defense, and Stamina with 163.
- Fortunately, during the time I drafted this article, I encountered one of the Team Rocket Grunts that mentioned how her flying type Pokemon would defeat my trainer! So, I remembered that flying type pocket monsters do not do well with ice types, so I was sure to add Glaceon to the lineup of Pokemon to battle! (We defeated the Grunt.) Glaceon took the other Pokemon down quickly!

How to get Glaceon
- The best way to get Glaceon is to evolve Eevee with 25 candy and replace the name Eevee with the name Rea before evolving. (To my knowledge, this can only be done once.)
- Glaceon cannot be hatched; it is very rare to catch an Eeveelution like Glaceon in the wild.
- Spawn locations are bodies of water and grassy areas.
2. Raichu
This mouse is electrifying!
Raichu is the Gen 1 electric type pocket monster from the Kanto region! Also known as the Mouse Pokemon and almost as popular as Pikachu, Raichu is electrifying in battles, gyms, and raids! Read more to find out how and why Raichu makes this list!
Why Raichu Is Great Against Flying
- Best movesets are Volt Switch (10.5 DPS) and Wild Charge (41.5 DPS).
- Combat stats are decent, with 193 for Offense, 151 for Defense, and 155 for Stamina.
- Maximum CP for Raichu is 2,182!
- Raichu, as an electric type, is only vulnerable to ground type moves and deals 63% damage to a flying type Pokemon.

1.Rhyperior
Rhyperior is quite superior!
The final Pokemon on this list is Rhyperior! This Gen 4 dual type Ground and Rock Pokemon from the Sinnoh region is a formidable opponent! Why Rhyperior Is Great Against Flying
- Best movesets are Mud-Slap (15.4 DPS) and Rock Wrecker (36.7 DPS).
- Combat stats are high: 241 for Offense, 190 for Defense, and 251 for Stamina!
- Maximum CP for Rhyperior is 2,785!
- Since Rhyperior is a rock type Pokemon, it is strong against flying. (However, it is also a ground Pokemon and those are weak against flying, so it cancels itself out. But, combat stats, CP, and movesets are very strong.)
