Plants vs. Zombies: The ultimate battle between the living and the dead. The ultimate battle that only the elite gamers can conquer. Gamers like you and me. For this challenging game, you will have to equip yourself with the best plants that will guarantee victory. Keep reading to become the gamer that will have the zombies scared out of their wits.
10. The Sunflower
The Sunflower is a powerful plant that, as we gamers know, makes its appearance in every Plants vs. Zombies franchise. This suggests that The Sunflower plays an essential role in the game. The main purpose of this plant is to provide more Sun. Sun is very important as it allows you to purchase other powerful plants. I have first-hand experience when it comes to taking The Sunflower for granted. It did not end well…
The Sunflower offers many benefits to you:
- She not only produces Sun that is essential to you, but she only costs 25 Sun! That is a steal if you ask me.
- The Sunflower is considered to be the mascot of the entire franchise. This means that she not only equips you with plenty of Sun to purchase more defense, but she is a pretty cute face to have around on your screen.
The Sunflower is quite easy to unlock:
She is the second plant to be unlocked after beating Player’s House - Day 1. Just because The Sunflower is low maintenance, it doesn't mean that she is not essential. Actually, she runs the whole show!
9. The Wall-Nut
Patience is a virtue, especially for a gamer. The most powerfully patient plant in Plants vs. Zombies is the famous Wall-Nut. This plant is an expert defender and an investment in the ultimate battle against the zombies. The Wall-Nut is also a pretty popular plant that is seen throughout the franchise.
- The Wall-Nut is a great asset to you because:
- He serves as a great form of defense during gameplay. This plant stalls zombies for a significant amount of time while your other purchased plants can go ham with offense!
- This plant has a long life span and he is fairly cheap. For only 50 Sun, this plant offers great defense.
Although The Wall-Nut only offers defense, this will be all you need from this powerful plant. Time is essential in this battle against the undead and time is exactly what The Wall-Nut will give you.
8. The Peashooter
This is the first plant that is made available to you. Believe me, there are valid reasons for this choice! The Peashooter is a classic plant that offers solid offense. He might have a cute face, but those friendly eyes are just for the show.
The Peashooter offers the following benefits to you:
- Shooting a pea every 1.35-1.5 seconds, he causes some solid damage.
- Although The Peashooter costs 100 Sun, he only takes 5 seconds to recharge! If you started off solidly with a proper amount of Sunflowers, the price for The Peashooter will not affect your gameplay too seriously.
The Peashooter is a reliable source of defense and it should be one of the first plants to invest in during your gameplay.
7. The Puff-Shroom
This might be my favorite night plant! Don't be fooled by the size and adorability of this plant, because he offers some serious benefits to your gameplay:
- This night plant does not cost any Sun! No Sun at all!
- You can place The Puff-Shroom on your lawn as a form of short-distance defense, shooting every 5 seconds. He recharges fairly fast.
- The Puff-Shroom is known to be an excellent source of stalling. He helps to stall zombies while you refine your backline of attack to be more powerful on incoming zombies.
The Puff-Shroom needs to be placed on the lawn as the first line of attack because their offense is only activated when a zombie is close to them. Placing them in the back of your defensive line will be of no benefit to you. This plant might not be the most powerful when considering the amount of damage he causes while attacking zombies at a short distance, but he is an essential asset to the night gameplay. He will optimize your gameplay to a whole new level. Just give these tiny guys a chance.
6. The Potato Mine
The Potato Mine is one of the most useful explosive plants. I like to use this plant as my go-to tool when a massive wave of zombies approaches. This plant causes massive damage to a zombie and he is the ultimate weapon if you plan on killing a zombie instantly.
The Potato Mine offers the following benefits to you:
- He only costs 25 Sun, making this plant the ideal cheap weapon.
- Although The Potato Mine takes about 14 seconds to arm himself after being planted, this plant will make sure that he instantly destroys any zombie that comes into contact with him. He doesn't care what type of protection a zombie tries to hide behind. What a warrior!
As mentioned before, patience is a virtue in the ultimate battle against the undead. The Potato Mine will test your patience, but a true gamer will hang in there. A true gamer knows that The Potato Mine packs an unforgettable punch.
5. The Spikeweed
The Spikeweed is a culling plant that will be extremely essential to your gameplay. This hidden tool will come as a surprise to the attacking undead, and the element of surprise is a massive advantage in this battle.
This plant has many hidden talents:
- He attacks from under, meaning that he will not be affected by shields.
- The Spikeweed cannot be eaten by zombies! he serves as a constant source of protection, draining zombies of power as they walk across them.
- This plant only costs 100 Sun andhet recharges relatively fast.
The Spikeweed is best used in combination with other plants that specialize in the attack side of things. If a zombie steps over The Spikeweed while The Peashooter goes ham, it has a very small chance of surviving. Trust me, I've seen it.
4. The Jalapeno
It’s in the name: this fiery plant blows up about anything in his way. Any avid Plants vs. Zombies player should be familiar with this iconic plant. If not, let me introduce you:
- The Jalapeno causes extreme damage, instantly destroying an entire lane of zombies when planted. You have to be careful with this one. He waits for no man. When planted, he explodes immediately.
- This essential explosive only costs 125 Sun. That is a steal when considering the immense damage that this plant causes.
The Jalapeno is my favorite for when a massive wave of zombies approaches. Although this plant takes its time to recharge, he is worth the wait. The damage he causes outweighs the patience required while waiting for him to recharge. Take my word for it!
3. The Sun-Shroom
Similar to The Sunflower, this plant is essential to your overall gameplay. The Sun-Shroom produces Sun during the night. This plant is one of the most essential weapons when playing at night.
The Sun-Shroom offers Sun, but he also provides some benefits:
- He only costs 25 Sun, making it an easy weapon that can be utilized to improve your line of attack.
- He recharges fairly fast and he is not as weak as he might seem. If it so happens that a zombie approaches this plant, he will offer medium toughness and hold the zombie off for a few seconds. I do, however, recommend planting The Sun-Shroom at the very back of your playing field so that he can be protected by attacking plants in front of him.
The Sun-Shroom is The Sunflower of the night. Need I say more?
2. The Squash
The face says it all. This plant is no friend to a zombie. Frankly, he is no friend to anyone! The Squash is a very powerful plant that “squashes” anything in his way. Pun intended.
The Squash has the following characteristics:
- Although he recharges quite slowly, he only costs 50 Sun. When considering the massive damage that this plant causes, it surely is a bargain!
- The Squash can only be used once, but with his low price and effectiveness of killing a zombie when it approaches, this plant is essential to the ultimate battle.
I can confidently say that I haven't fought a single battle without The Squash by my side. With that being said, I haven't lost a single battle. Do with that information what you please.
1. The Gatling Pea
This plant of by far my favorite in the entire Plants vs. Zombies franchise. Upgraded from The Peashooter, this plant is potent. Let me explain why:
- The Gatling Pea is like four of The Peashooters in one. He shoots 4 peas at a time, causing immense damage to any zombie who dares to cross his lane.
- Although he costs a hefty 250 Sun, it is entirely worth it. If you followed my advice by starting off strong with some sunflowers, the price tag on this champion warrior won't affect you at all.
The Gatling Pea is the ultimate warrior fit to fight in the ultimate battle. Don’t believe me? Try it yourself.
