The following armor perks are my selection of the top five. These are the ones I would recommend as they provide you with the best possible advantages when playing New World. Some of these may be best to use for specific builds but can be used by all players.
1. Health
Health is a necessary perk for all builds in the world of Aeternum. This health perk offers you a better chance at surviving not only attacks but also can give you an advantage when entering dungeons or expeditions. This perk is also stackable.
Effect
- +2.4 Max Health
Compatible With
- Chest
- Helmet
- Gloves
- Pants
- Shoes
How To Obtain
Armor can be dropped or crafted with this perk. To craft it you will need the Adamant. The other materials can differ depending on the armor you want.
Adamant can be found in:
- Parcel of Armoring Materials - Uncommon.
- Parcel of Armoring Materials - Rare.
- Parcel of Armoring Materials - Epic.
- Can appear randomly on the PvP reward Track
The Health perk is the most important one out of all the perks. It is stackable as well, so if you stack them on all the gear you can, it will give you a nice health pull. This perk is as close to mandatory as perks get.
2. Elemental Aversion
Elemental Aversion is a PvE perk. Best in any element conditions as the elemental factors of the game include cold, fire, and lightning.
Effect
Receive 4.5% less damage from reneged, elemental attacks.
Compatible With
- Chest
- Helmet
- Gloves
- Pants
- Shoes
How To Obtain
Armor can be dropped or crafted with this perk. To craft it you will need the Armor Fragments. The other materials can differ on the armor you want.
Armor Fragments can be found in:
- Cache of the Depths Armaments - Rare - Tier III.
- Cache of Dynasty Shipyard Armaments - Rare - Tier III.
- Cache of Tempests Heart Armaments - Epic - Tier III.
- Cache of Mutated Armaments - Legendary -Tier III.
- Can appear randomly on the PvP reward Track.
- Sometimes it can be obtained when you salvage other armor pieces.
In my opinion, this perk is needed especially with all the changes happening to the world of Aeternum. This is the best perk for any mutated expeditions and any fighting you will be doing in Old First Light.
3. Refreshing
Refreshing can stack to a maximum of four. So for instance, if you have six pieces of gear with refreshing, two will be wasted. Therefore, I would suggest you pick the four pieces that are of most importance to you as a player. This may also depend on your build preference.
Effect
Reduce max cooldowns by 4%.
Compatible With
- Kite Shield
- Tower Shield
- Round Shield
- Chest
- Helmet
- Gloves
- Pants
- Shoes
- Ring
- Amulet
- Earring

Brilliant Animus can be found in:

- Crate of Arcana Materials - Rare.
- Package of Specialized Arcana Materials - Epic.
- Parcel of Armoring Materials - Uncommon.
- Crate of Armoring Materials - Rare.

- Crate of Engineering Materials - Rare.
- Package of Specialized Engineering Materials - Epic.

- Parcel of Riding Materials - Uncommon.

- Crate of Weaponsmithing Materials - Rare.
- Package of Specialized Weaponsmithing Materials - Epic.
- Legacy of Crassus Crate.
- Major Spriggan’s Spoils.
- Siege of Suldur Spoils.
This is a great perk to have as it is perfect in battle. It reduces your cooldowns greatly which allows you to use your skills faster and more often. This is a perk I suggest for all builds to incorporate.
4. Enchanted Ward
Enchanted Ward is in a way similar to Elemental Aversion except it is for both PvP and PvE and it works against fiscal attacks. Demons and players alike may come at you with a variety of attacks which could cause a lot of damage. But, with this perk, you are more protected against them.
Effect
-4% damage from light and heavy attacks
Compatible With
- Chest
- Helmet
- Gloves
- Pants
- Shoes
How To Obtain
Armor can be dropped or crafted with this perk. To craft it you will need the Harden Crystal. The other materials needed will depend on the armor you want.
Harden Crystal can be found in:
- Parcel of Armoring Materials - Uncommon.
- Crate of Armoring Materials - Rare.
- Package of Specialized Armoring Materials - Epic.
- Can appear randomly on the PvP reward Track.
It might not seem to make a big difference but trust me every bit of damage the enemy does is a good thing. It might just save your life. The type of armor set you choose to wear will also have an impact on this perks offering.
5. Shirking Fortification
This is PvP and PvE. It's a good perk to have for medium to heavy builds. If you’re not very good at dodging this might not be for you though.
Effect
After dodging an attack, gain Fortify. Increasing armor by 5.3% for 4s (Each item with this perk stacks).
Compatible With
- Chest
- Helmet
- Gloves
- Pants
- Shoes
How To Obtain
Armor can be dropped or crafted with this perk. To craft it you will need the Squirming Vines. The other materials can differ on the armor you want.
Squirming Vines can be found in:
- Parcel of Armoring Materials - Uncommon.
- Crate of Armoring Materials - Rare.
- Package of Specialized Armoring Materials - Epic.
- Legacy of Crassus Crate.
- Major Spriggan’s Spoils.
- Siege of Suldur Spoils.
- Can appear randomly on the PvP reward Track.
This is a great perk for a tank in my opinion as it gives them a fortify buff. However, keep in mind that this perk comes with a 5s cooldown.
