It's no secret that there are plenty of armor choices in Mass Effect 3. But if you don't fancy using one of the prepared sets, then you are going to want to select the best chest, shoulders, legs, and helmet for your playstyle.

In this article, we will be focusing on the top 5 chest pieces you can get in the game. Read on as we look at which classes and play styles they are best suited for. as well as the location details.

1. Serrice Council Chest

Where to find the chest piece during the mission

First up, we have the Serrice Council chest piece. Overall, it's not the worst-looking item, and it's ideal for those looking to increase their power damage. You can find this piece during the Grissom Academy: Emergency Evacuation mission, shortly after you come across the two students shielded in a biotic bubble. If you miss it, you can buy it on the Citadel at the Aegohr Munitions.

Stats:

  • 10% power damage increase

Best class:

  • Adept
  • Engineer
  • Sentinel

2. Armax Arsenal Chest

Where to find the chest piece during the mission

The Armax Arsenal Chest is a good choice if you find yourself chewing through ammo. You can get it for free during the Rannoch: Admiral Koris mission, near the AA gun next to the jammer. Otherwise, you can buy it from Batarian State Arms in the citadel after you have completed the mission.

This chest will give you extra ammo capacity, so if you are using some of the later game guns, it can come in handy as it will save you the mod spots on the gun that can be used for things like damage or recoil.

Stats:

  • 10% ammo capacity increase

Best Class:

  • Soldier
  • Vanguard
  • Infiltrator

3. Ariake Technologies Chest

Out of all the chest pieces on this list, the Ariake Technologies is probably the one that looks the most like the base N7 one. It can be bought relatively early in the game as it will become available at the Kassa Fabrication terminal on the Citadel after the mission Priority: The Citadel II.

This is a great choice if you prefer to be up close and personal or if you are about to embark on a mission that you know will involve fighting a lot of Husks.

Stats:

  • 10% melee damage boost

Best class:

  • Vanguard

4. Hahne-Kedar Chest

Where to find the chest piece during the mission

If you want to rely on pure weapon damage, then the Hahne-Kedar chest piece will be the one for you. You can find it for free during Tuchanka: Turian Platoon, found near the second escape pod. If you miss it, you will be able to buy it from the Cipritine Armory terminal on the Citadel.

This is a great choice to pair with ammo power or targeted head shots. To a lesser extent, you can use this with power-based classes as it will allow you to pick the lightest weapon possible and not sacrifice your damage too much.

Stats:

  • 10% increase weapon damage

Best class:

  • Soldier
  • Vanguard
  • Infiltrator

 5. Kassa Fabrication Chest

The last recommended chest piece on the list is the Kassa Fabrication. It can be found during the second mission, Priority: Mars. You will find it after the cafeteria before you need to climb the ladder. If you miss it, you can buy it afterwards from Spectre Requisitions.
