Why are bikes important?
In GTA Online bike are important for numerous reasons:
1. Speed and Handling: Bikes are oftentimes faster than cars as they are quite easy to maneuver through traffic and various tight spaces with ease regardless of player skill.
2. Cost Effective: 90% of Online bikes are a lot less expensive than high-end cars, providing a cost-effective means of travel around the maps for new/returning players.
3. Special Abilities: There are few motorcycles in Online servers, like the Oppressor MK2, that come with special features like rocket boost making them shine in missions, heists, and combat situations.
What are the Fastest Bikes?
As of 2024, the fastest bikes in GTA Online are able to reach top speeds that previously only planes, jets, and weaponized vehicles could reach. Unfortunately, Rockstar Games has only implemented HSW (Hao’s Special Works) to one motorcycle but with just that one implementation, the HSW bike is now one of the top 5 fastest vehicles in the entire game.

The Vortex is another raceable motorcycle in GTA Online that was introduced as part of the Cunning Stunts DLC, The best GTA Online DLC (my opinion). The Vortex has a futuristic design that features a sleek body kit and framework that can only be found on older GTA V vehicles.
The Vortex has decent top speed for an older sports bike with the handling of a modern drag bike, this can be perfect for players looking to ease into competitive racing. Not too many performance and visual upgrades are available so getting the optimal specs is quite easy to recreate (max everything except suspension).

This off-roader is known for its versatility on and off the tarmac making it the ideal choice for challenging terrains. The BF400 has an amazing dirt bike design that features a lightweight frame, allowing off-road handling to be slightly more responsive and effective on uneven roads.

While no longer being the fastest motorcycle in GTA Online anymore, the 801 manages to remain competitive in current bike races when HSW is disabled, when enabled it sadly gets left in the dust.

Released with the Deadline update, the Shotaro is a special sports bike that can release a distinctive light trail like the movies when players are in the adversary mode Deadline, there are a wide variety of maps to keep player retention.
There isn't too much that can be said about this one-of-a-kind motorcycle, especially for those players that are already huge fans of the Tron Legacy franchise but what I can say is that this purchase will be one of the best decisions players can make for racing and casual driving.

The Hakuchou Drag is the first and only drag bike in GTA Online and my personal favorite motorcycle to use in races and free mode time trials. The Hakuchou Drag is based on the iconic Suzuki GSX1300R Hayabusa and released back in October 2016 as part of the Lost and Damned DLC back on October 4, 2016.
The Hakuchou Drag unfortunately suffers massively in the handling department but because of its shocking 0-60 take off and top speed, the Hakuchou Drag is the undisputed king of motorcycle races.
What we love about the Hakuchou Drag
The distinctive design, customization options, and drag racing performance are the key features players love about the Hakuchou Drag, In Layman’s Term, the Hakuchou Drag is not only the fastest non HSW raceable motorcycles in the game but the overall best bike players can buy.

2. Oppressor (MKI)
See the Oppressor in action:
What is the Oppressor
The Oppressor MKI is the first ever rocket powered bike in GTA Online introduced alongside the highly praised Gunrunning DLC released back in summer 2017. The Oppressor is quite unique in that it comes with frontal machine guns attached that can be used in GTA races and in lobbies, this can be switched out for homing rockets.
On release and for some months after, the Oppressor held the top spot for most used vehicle in freemode lobbies. I can attest to this claim as at the time I was playing GTA Online about 6 hours a day actively money grinding in public lobbies.
What we love about the Oppressor Mk1
The distinctive design, limited flight capabilities, and ability to add homing missiles made this motorcycle beloved by money grinders and griefers alike, a double-edged sword one might say. As a Veteran player this motorcycle will always have a special spot in my personal garage.
Oppressor MK1 Stats
- Top Speed of 140 mph
- Able to glide in the air allowing for faster travel around the map.

See the HSW Hakuchou Drag in action:
What is the Hakuchou Drag
The Hakuchou Drag is the first and only HSW bike in GTA Online and one of my personal favorite HSW vehicles to use in any HSW and Personal Vehicle time trials. The Hakuchou Drag HSW is an updated version of the Hakuchou Drag that is based on the Suzuki GSX1300R Hayabusa but customized to have an extended rear wheel.
The Hakuchou Drag HSW still suffers from poor handling but with the added performance upgrades, the once shocking 0-60 acceleration quickly skyrockets to much faster heights that no current raceable vehicle can reach. The top speed also gets a drastic boost, permanently cementing the Hakuchou Drag HSW as the best motorcycle in GTA V.
What we love about the Hakuchou Drag HSW
The distinctive design, customization options, and drag racing performance are the key features players love about the Hakuchou Drag and this surely carries over to the HSW version. The HSW upgrade is quite expensive but once installed, players will never have to buy another motorcycle again in GTA V Online.
Hakuchou Drag HSW Stats
- Top Speed of 157.5 mph
- Around Cutting Corners GP, the Hakuchou Drag HSW has a lap time of 53.186.
- Able to complete all HSW Time Trials with relative ease.
