[Top 10] FF7 Rebirth Best Party Setups for Every Challenge

The Complete Final Fantasy 7 Party.
Updated:
23 Oct 2024

In this article, we will discuss the 10 best party setups that you can use for every challenge present in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, which includes the VR missions as well as additional missions present within the game.

The party mechanic is a staple in the RPG genre and allows to showcase different tactics in battle, such as physical prowess or even magic abilities which can turn the tide of the battle.

Here in the game, you can play as three characters at the time, which has the same format present in the original Final Fantasy 7 but the difference is that Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth provides a more action-oriented experience while providing RPG Strategies against enemies at the same time.

Without further ado, let’s start the article.

10. Cloud, Tifa and Barret

The AVALANCHE Trio is hard to top.

If there is one thing that rings true here, it’s that the original Final Fantasy 7 Trio team still works to this day.

You may be wondering how? Well, both Cloud and Tifa’s offensive Synergy Skill’s like Synchro Cyclone and Relentless Rush, work in harmony to easily break the enemies’ defense. Of course, it would not have been possible without the help of a strong Support, which Barret fits perfectly.

You can load Barret into an offensive loadout with offensive spells or have him act like the healer, just like Aerith!

This Team is great for:

  • Taking on against a wide range of enemies, especially when gathering combat data/ Fiend Intel for Chadley for World Intel.
  • Going for an Offensive Strategy against players who are vulnerable to most attacks or can be easily exploited.
  • Mixing and Matching Strategies against a multitude of enemies, making it the most adaptable team to play in-game.

Party details:

  • Cloud, make him the Party leader as he is easy to control and move. His Parries and Counterattacks would work wonders.
  • Tifa, make her take the 2nd spot, as it would help in the immediate switching of characters. Her Stagger Attacks are second to none and would provide great attack openings.
  • Barret, make him take the 3rd spot, his Auto-Abilities would help heal the party or go for offensive, depending on the load out. Can decimate enemies in a ranged motion as well.

9. Aerith, Yuffie, and Cait Sith

The Magic Trio goes all out on this one.

Physical attacks may be a staple for almost EVERY game out there. Still, nothing beats magic, trust me, and in this game, it’s one of the most core essential tools needed for overcoming tougher enemies and exploiting their weaknesses.

Thankfully, we have Aerith, Yuffie, and Cait Sith to showcase these magical abilities out there in the game, with Yuffie being the party leader and leading the party with the Ninjutsu, Cait Sith acting as the primary offensive character thanks to his randomizer, and Aerith being in the back, supporting the party with her Arcane Ward and other magical skills.

Let’s not forget the Synergy Skills of the party where Kitty Cannonade and Moogle Pinwheel would grant temporary unlimited MP.

It’s a very Materia dependent build but seeing as there are elemental enemies present in-game as well, you can switch to this party format to cheese them.

This Team is great for:

  • Showcasing that Magical Superiority and Prowess against hordes of monsters.
  • Mixing and Matching Strategies against multitude of enemies, making it the most adaptable team to play in-game.
  • One-shotting bosses in a quick amount of time thanks to the magical potency of Materia being overpowered as ever.

Party details:

  • Yuffie, make her the party leader, since she has quick movements and has sufficient attack and as well magic attack damage.
  • Cait Sith, make him take the 2nd spot which would help in ease of switching party members. His Lucky Slots ability allows buffs and debuffs for allies and enemies respectively.
  • Aerith, make her take the 3rd spot where her Auto-Abilities would help in healing the whole party and enhancing magical attacks.

8. Cloud, Barret and Cait Sith

This is what happens when a cat needs two bodyguards.

Now, this party setup is unique in that there are two strong members and one weak one whose luck can work out anytime. With Cait Sith leading at the helm and Cloud and Barret acting as bodyguards, this is the perfect party setup to utilize both offensive and defensive playstyles.

With Cloud having faster movement of killing off enemies and Barret providing ranged support, it’s the perfect opportunity to showcase your tactics while Cait Sith buffs and debuffs allies and enemies, respectively, provided his luck doesn’t run out.

The party setup may be pretty whacky, but it’s definitely worth it for some surprise elements in combat.

This Team is great for:

  • Taking on against a wide range of enemies, especially when gathering combat data/ Fiend Intel for Chadley for World Intel.
  • Mixing and Matching Strategies against multitude of enemies, making it the most adaptable team to play in-game.
  • Ending fights quickly to gain more experience points in less amount of time.

Party details:

  • Cait Sith, make him Party leader as he would be the main person to dictate the strategy of the party technique. His Lucky Slots would help him buff the rest members of party, allowing for better defense.
  • Cloud, make him take the 2nd spot, as it would help in immediate switching of characters. His fast movement would help take up any damage that Cait Sith has suffered and launch Parries or even Counterstnaces.
  • Barret, make him take the 3rd spot, his Auto-Abilities would help decimate enemies in a ranged motion. His Lifesaver Ability can save Cait Sith from peril as well while enhancing Steelskin for increased defence.

7. Barret, Aerith, and Red XIII

Re-enacting for the LOVELESS play segment.

You know what’s tough for enemies to handle? It’s the fact that a rabid dog is coming after them with such ferocious speed that they do not have enough time to even respond to their attacks. That’s the beauty of this party team-up.

While Aerith may be working her magic and Barret shooting projectiles from behind, Red XIII works flawlessly as the main party lead thanks to his rapid fire strikes, which can rapidly fill the ATB gauge, allowing you to unleash Synergy Attacks such as Overfang which increases Limit Break levels and Ringmaster, which increases Stagger Time of already Staggered enemies.

This Team is great for:

  • Taking on against a wide range of enemies, especially when gathering combat data/ Fiend Intel for Chadley for World Intel.
  • Mixing and Matching Strategies against multitude of enemies, making it the most adaptable team to play in-game.
  • Extend the Stagger Rate and maintaining the ATB Gauge during combat, which can unleash new abilities.

Party details:

  • Red XIII, make him Party leader as he has greater mobility present. His Vengeance Mode along with Siphon Fang would benefit the party setup greatly.
  • Aerith, make her take the 2nd spot as it would help in immediate switching of characters. Her Stagger Attacks as well as Arcane Ward would help party members cast spells twice and fill up ATB Gauge faster.
  • Barret, make him take the 3rd spot, his Auto-Abilities would help the party take less damage, thanks to his abilities. Can decimate enemies in a ranged motion as well.

6. Cloud, Tifa, and Red XIII

Just Red doing his thing.

If you are looking to go on an all-out offensive, these three are the perfect party members to form a team on if you want to go for an all-out offensive strategy.

With Red XIII and Tifa acting as straight-up bruisers, Cloud has some sort of flexibility present since he can provide healing to the party. To top it all off, it’s perfect to fight against tough bosses.

This Team is great for:

  • Taking on against a wide range of enemies, especially when gathering combat data/ Fiend Intel for Chadley for World Intel.
  • Going for an Offensive Strategy against players who are vulnerable to most attacks or can be easily exploited.
  • Going against some of the toughest bosses that the game has to offer.

Party details:

  • Cloud, make him Party leader as he is easy to control and move. His Parries and Counterattacks would work wonders.
  • Tifa, make her take the 2nd spot as it would help in immediate switching of characters. Her Stagger Attacks are second to none and would provide great attack openings.
  • Red XIII, make him take the 3rd spot, his Auto-Abilities would help go for offensive. Can heal party members as well, depending on the Materia loadout.

5. Cloud, Yuffie, and Barret

An example of Yuffie and Barret’s Synergy Attack.

Just like the previous matchup before, this one’s perfect for going with an all-out offensive as well, and with a minor tweaks, you can utilize your defense strategy here as well.

While Cloud and Barret can already pin down multitude of enemies via their physical attacks, the great thing about Yuffie is that she can incorporate Elemental Attacks via her Ninjutsu as well, greatly beneficial for exposing weaknesses of enemies, which in turn increases the Stagger Rate.

This Team is great for:

  • Taking on against a wide range of enemies, especially when gathering combat data/ Fiend Intel for Chadley for World Intel.
  • Mixing and Matching Strategies against multitude of enemies, making it the most adaptable team to play in-game.
  • Extend the Stagger Rate and increase the Limit Level of your attacks, which can unleash new abilities.

Party details:

  • Cloud, make him Party leader as he is easy to control and move. His Parries and Counterattacks would work wonders.
  • Yuffie, make her take the 2nd spot as it would help in immediate switching of characters. Her Stagger Attacks are second to none and would provide great attack openings.
  • Barret, make him take the 3rd spot, his Auto-Abilities would help heal the party or go for offensive, depending on the load out. Can decimate enemies in a ranged motion as well.

4. Cloud, Red XIII, and Barret

Perfect Balance

This party setup is perhaps one of the strongest party setups out there for the game and it’s for a good reason, as well. First, all the abilities of the party members compliment with each other and secondly, the tactics can be interchanged pretty easily.

Cloud will be the frontrunner here as he can deal some pretty nasty damage towards enemies, Red XIII will act as DPS thanks to his Vengeance Mode, and Barret will play the role of Support, with his long-range attacks dealing damage from afar while healing the party!

This Team is great for:

  • Taking on against a wide range of enemies, especially when gathering combat data/ Fiend Intel for Chadley for World Intel.
  • Going against tough bosses where you can one-shot them with this party setup.
  • Mixing and Matching Strategies against multitude of enemies, making it the most adaptable team to play in-game.

Party details:

  • Cloud, make him Party leader as he is easy to control and move. His Parries and Counterattacks would work wonders.
  • Red XIII, make him take the 2nd spot as it would help in immediate switching of characters. His Vengeance Mode would help increase attack damage while providing healing to the rest of the party once Watcher’s Respite is unlocked.
  • Barret, make him take the 3rd spot, his Auto-Abilities would help heal the party or go for offensive, depending on the load out. Can decimate enemies in a ranged motion as well.

3. Cloud, Yuffie, and Cait Sith

Another Example of the Synergy Attack

This is probably the most unorthodox party setup that you will ever see but surprisingly, they work really well together. No wonder they’re called Wild Cards too, despite the fact that you get them as party members later in the game.

You may be wondering, how? Well, Cloud and Cait Sith work great as defensive characters while Yuffie works as the main offensive character, thanks to her elemenetal Ninjutsu that she has up her sleeve.

Not to mention, it’s a very luck-dependent build too, since Cait Sith’s Lucky Slots is really dependent on the luck mechanics here.

This Team is great for:

  • Taking on against a wide range of enemies, especially when gathering combat data/ Fiend Intel for Chadley for World Intel.
  • Mixing and Matching Strategies against multitude of enemies, making it the most adaptable team to play in-game.
  • Playing a risky yet rewarding battle system, making the game experience all the more enthralling.

Party details:

  • Yuffie, make her Party leader as he is easy to control and move. Her Elemental Ninjutsu enhancements are game-changing aspects.
  • Cloud, make him take the 2nd spot as it would help in immediate switching of characters. His Stagger Attacks are second to none and would provide great attack openings, not to mention his Counterstance and Parry abilities as well.
  • Cait Sith, make him take the 3rd spot, he would provide as support and his Lucky Slots would provide buffs, debuffs to allies and enemies respectively.

2. Cloud, Tifa, and Yuffie

Ninja and two Nibelheim Survivors.

This is perhaps one of the best offensive party layouts out there in-game considering the fact that all their offensive stats are off the charts.

Over here, Yuffie will take the role of the leader of the party, since she is the most versatile player of the trio that we have setup here, providing both massive damage to enemies and healing to party members.

Cloud will take on the role of a Tank, relegating him to the 2nd spot considering the fact that Tifa and Yuffie both are much faster than Cloud, hence it is more easy for him to provide more damage and good ol’ Tifa will use her skills to increase the Stagger Rate of enemies!

This Team is great for:

  • Taking on against a wide range of enemies, especially when gathering combat data/ Fiend Intel for Chadley for World Intel.
  • Going for an Offensive Strategy against players who are vulnerable to most attacks or can be easily exploited.
  • Mixing and Matching Strategies against multitude of enemies, making it the most adaptable team to play in-game.

Party details:

  • Yuffie, make her Party leader as he is easy to control and move. Her Elemental Ninjutsu enhancements are game-changing aspects.
  • Cloud, make him take the 2nd spot as it would help in immediate switching of characters. His Stagger Attacks are second to none and would provide great attack openings, not to mention his Counterstance and Parry abilities as well.
  • Tifa, make her take the 3rd spot, her ATB Attacks will increase Stagger Rate of enemies exponentially. Not only that, she will provide great support, as well.

1. Cloud, Tifa, and Aerith

The Infamous Love Triangle.

And for our top list, we have our infamous love triangle team which makes its return for Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, and surprisingly, it’s one of the most well-rounded parties in the game. Hell, even I used this setup in my playthrough most of the game!

Cloud will be the main leader here and Tifa will be the DPS whereas Aerith will provide support from the back thanks to her magical abilities. If we make the best use of their Synergies, such as Divine Punishment and Synchro Cyclone, the Limit Break levels will be increased and more new skills would be unlocked!

Not only that, both magical and physical offense are offered here along with a sufficient amount of defence provided Aerith has healing setup present, it’s definitely one of the most well-rounded parties in the game!

This Team is great for:

  • Taking on against a wide range of enemies, especially when gathering combat data/ Fiend Intel for Chadley for World Intel.
  • Mixing and Matching Strategies against multitude of enemies, making it the most adaptable team to play in-game.
  • Unleashing a flurry of attacks in both magical and physical aspects of combat, making this the best party setup to play with.

  • Aerith, make her take the last spot since she would provide support via healing and Arcane Ward. Her Limit break skills are essential for buffs and debuffs as well.

And that’s about it with the best party setups that you can have in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth. See ya.
