Here are the top 10 best builds in Dragon Age: Inquisition.
10. Support + Combo Mage
The best way to keep your allies alive is to make sure they have a hard time getting hit
With every group of heavy hitters, one or two supports are game-changing in battle. The Support + Combo Mage build is exactly what it sounds like; with heavy use in frost attacks like winter’s grasp and ice Mine, you set your warriors up for shatter combos to stack up damage, and the offensive Storm spells can paralyze enemies for a second or two. Barrier and Revival are a must-have to keep your allies alive, but with the Desperation upgrade for Revival, they come back with a massive bonus to damage.

- Health/Support for allies
- Debilitating enemies with static cage and frost spells
- Can be used with any specialization
9. The Guardian Build
Blessed are the peacekeepers, the champions of the just
The “Guardian” this build refers to is one who would lay down their life for their allies, so the Templar specialization is a perfect fit. This is more of a support/tank build, with debuffs from Blessed Blades giving your allies more damage against spellcasters and demons and the multiple taunting features from the Vanguard tree keeping enemies off the weaklings. And when the going gets tough, the Last Sacrifice ability lets you heal your allies and give them a decent damage bonus when after you fall for your team.

- Tanking damage for weaker allies
- Increased damage against demons and spellcasters
- High defense/bonuses to allies when fallen
8. Dual Wield Daggers Tempest Build
A quick one-two-shatter can take down your enemies in a flash
Dual Wield Rogues are good at quickly dealing out damage, and the Tempest specialization helps them maximize that. With the Flask of Fire upgrade that allows your abilities to have no cooldowns, you can zip around the field spamming your Deathblow and Twin Fangs to down enemies left and right. Flask of Lightening helps slow enemies, so you remain unscathed, but the real star is Flask of Frost. With this ability you swath yourself in ice and freeze the enemies you attack, allowing you to make constant shatter combos that stack the damage even higher.

There's nothing like the satisfying crunch of your enemy's head
If you need a build for your front-line bodyguard, this would be it. With the Crusher build, you can destroy the most dangerous enemies on the field, leaving them staggering away while your allies finish them off. A Maul is the best weapon for this build, seeing as it does little AOE damage and with the combination of Mighty Blow and Earthquake you can knock down enemies before they have a chance to blink. You gain good mobility with this build with the Combat Roll and using Grappling Chain can keep the meanest ones hitting you so your friends can attack from the sidelines.

But with the Sword and Shield weapon choice, you have a bonus to defense that a Two-Handed weapon doesn’t have and managing your health to rain hurt on your enemies becomes less frightening than it looks. Being a Reaver means your goal is to deal as much damage as possible, so the Payback Strike and Shield Bash moves are an essential complement, and the War Cry ability can help build guard so you can stay alive long enough to rip your enemies to shreds.

The Archery weapon choice is essential because it keeps you out of harm’s way while still dealing good damage. Leaping Shot, especially, can hit dozens of times when spammed, and with the Hook and Tackle ability from the Sabotage tree, you can easily zip back to the action and start it all over again.

- Very little skill cooldowns if built properly
- High stamina regeneration
- Archery skills allow insane spam damage

Image
What they can't see can hurt them very, very much
Stealth and fire; an odd combination that can lead to one of the most vicious damage combos in the Mage class. This is the only build where a special item is necessary, and that is the Ring of Doubt, a ring that keeps you in stealth while not attacking and making the first attack you make out of stealth automatically crit. Mix that with the Immolate spell and its Flashpoint passive and you have massive fire damage doubling every few seconds, then switching back to stealth before using Fire Mine to have it crit as well.

- Multiple crits with Ring of Doubt
- Barrier allows damage boost
- Can pair with any specialization
3. Assassin Archer Build
The Crows have nothing on this
This one isn’t too bad to wrap your head around. A Rogue that keeps its distance, slips in and out of stealth and builds on a specialization that’s centered on critical hits has to be a good move. With the proper skills, you and this build can finish Inquisition with no companions by your side. You become a violent storm of critical hits, racking up damage and then dodging away before anyone has a chance to see you.
What the Assassin Archer Build Excels In
- If built correctly, powerful enough to play solo
- Ducking in and out of stealth allows for multiple crits

- Nearly invincible
- High armor
- Decent damage while taking all of the heat so your allies can attack from the side
