Solo Queue in Dota 2

Solo queuing in Dota 2 can be a challenging yet rewarding experience for new and seasoned players alike. Personally, Solo queue tests your patience in the game, works on quick communication skills and teamwork. This article will be focused on heroes that do well in the current meta across all roles. These choices are based on the hero’s powers and what they can consistently do, to arm you with the best knowledge in order to readily compete and win in ranked matches. These heroes will offer you the extra edge in solidifying victories and how easily they can work in the current meta to turn the field of battle to your advantage.

15. Jakiro

Image
Body Image

A Magical creature of Ice and fire, Jakiro the two headed dragon is the perfect hero to play in both the position 5 and 4 positions. The hero is typically a lane dominator, damage dealer and crowd controlling support making him a huge asset to have in any team in the supporting role. Jakiro rarely loses his lane due to his very high damage in the laning stage that can pave the way for your carry to free farm.

It is these qualities that make him a very potent support hero to play in your ranked matches, allowing your carry to farm uncontested and more often than not, seal the game with a few notable team fights and tower pushes.

Jakiro’s skill set can be found in the link: https://dota2.fandom.com/wiki/Jakiro

Why Jakiro is the perfect support for Solo queue:

  • Jakiro more often than not, carries his weight and more in competitive games. He is able to absolutely assert his dominance in the lane due to his high trading abilities and health pool. This makes it very easy for your carry to snowball, free from the opponent’s pressure and gives them a significantly higher chance for them to close out games.
  • Even in difficult games, Jakiro’s skill set is extremely valuable, offering a low cooldown, high cast range and Area Of Effect (AOE) spells that are potent at all stages of the game.
  • Jakiro has the ability to fast track victories due to his ability to quickly clear waves and disassemble towers. As the main objective is to push the opponent’s structures and destroy the enemy Ancient, Jakiro’s abilities help speed this process up.
  • Jakiro can build almost any item to suit his team mates, requiring almost no farm in order to be effective. For this reason, he is extremely flexible and can very rarely get counterpicked.
  • Jakiro is weak against only a few heroes that have strong purging abilities or can react easily to his high cast time animations. Heroes such as Abaddon, Oracle, Puck, Juggernaut and Outworld Devourer are some notable heroes to look out for. Other than that, Jakiro is strong against most of the heroes in the pool and has very few unfavorable counters.

14. Dawnbreaker

Image
Body Image

Child of the light and order, Valora the Sun warrior smashes into the battlefield, pathing the way with shining brilliance in her quest to obliterate darkness. Dawnbreaker is a well rounded and versatile hero, being very rarely counter-picked and offering strong controlling, counter-initiating and frontlining capabilities for her team. This makes Dawnbreaker a solid pick for most solo ranked matches as she is always able to generate impact and usually makes space for her team.

Dawnbreaker’s skill set can be found in the link: https://dota2.fandom.com/wiki/Dawnbreaker

Reasons to choose Dawnbreaker in Solo Ranked matches:

  • Dawnbreaker is an extremely versatile hero that can fit into literally every role in the game. This makes her very hard to pick against.
  • Dawnbreaker has incredible stats that make her a very strong and tanky hero. This makes her extremely strong in the early to mid game and very difficult to lane against.
  • Dawnbreaker typically secures an early victory due to her dominance in lane. Opponents are then forced into a position where they are already behind, making it even harder to deal with Dawnbreaker’s high tempo playstyle.
  • Dawnbreaker can do extremely high damage in the early to mid game due to her starbreaker ability. Swinging her mighty hammer, she pummels opponents and before ending her combo in a resonating smash that stuns and disables opponents.
  • Dawnbreaker is tanky but also relatively mobile, making her a very dangerous opponent to deal with. Unlike most initiators that require them to farm up a Blink Dagger, Dawnbreaker is able to reposition herself rather simply leaping back and forth fightswithher trusty warhammer.
  • Dawnbreaker’s ultimate has the potential to leap across the map to her allies. This enables her to very quickly assert not only dominance to her lane, but to other lanes as well, assisting her allies wherever they may be. This is also useful in that she can farm safely and be slightly more greedy than other heroes, farming away from her team and only joining when a team fight breaks out. This means that Dawnbreaker has almost no downtime, offering consistent utility throughout the game.

13. Riki

Image
Body Image

Riki is one of Dota 2’s most pesky heroes. He has fairly strong escape and purging abilities not to mention, the ability to render himself completely invisible for the majority of the game. This makes Riki a deadly assassin who is able to, fairly often, carry his team if he is able to snowball fast enough.

The most important thing for Riki players to do is to play him actively and quickly. He does not farm very fast and relies heavily on killing targets to give him enough gold to keep the ball rolling. However, Riki’s prevalence in the higher leagues drops due to enemies being more cautious with detection and choosing hero counters to deal with this troublesome hero. Despite this, he is a great hero choice for players wishing to climb up ranks fast and quite cheaply.

Riki’s ability list can be found in the link: https://dota2.fandom.com/wiki/Riki

Reasons why you should try Riki in Solo Queue Ranked matches:

  • Riki is one of the best assassins in the game, able to sneak up on enemy positions and sniping off key targets behind enemy lines.
  • Riki is able to render his target unable to fight back due to his ability that renders opponents unable to utilize their spells. Use this to your advantage to pick off supports or assist allies in dealing with troublesome carries.
  • Riki can very quickly exhaust enemy supports of their already hard to come by gold by darting in and out of battles.
  • Riki’s power spike comes after he is level 6. He is then strong well into the mid-game where finding out where he is on the map can be a real pain for opponents. They can waste a lot of time trying to catch this pesky assassin, or if not, risk being solo killed. Either way, it forces the opponent to either overreact or underreact, giving space for the rest of your team to deal the heavy blows.
  • Try to close off the game early as Riki doesn’t like to play the late game all that much where magic immunity, more powerful hard carries and force staffs become more prominent.

12. Skywrath Mage

Image
Body Image

Skywrath mage is a magic nuker who can overwhelm his opponents with concentrated fire power. He is typically played in either the Mid-lane or supporting positions and is a prime hero to choose in Solo Queue Ranked due to his insane bursting potential. Skywrath can destroy heroes during the laning stage due to his powerful harassment abilities and delete heroes by himself in the late game, uncommon amongst support heroes who generally do not deal that much damage without items.

You can find his skill list as follows: https://dota2.fandom.com/wiki/Skywrath_Mage

Reasons why you should pick Skywrath Mage:

  • Skywrath can secure kills throughout the entire game due to his high nuking and low cooldown abilities. This means that he is useful even without items and even during the later parts of the games.
  • If you decide to pick him as a mid-laner and end up getting counterpicked by heroes such as Templar Assassin or Anti Mage, you can simply swap roles with a team mate of yours and play a supporting position. Either way, you will still retain your high damage abilities.
  • Skywrath Mage has a relatively high movement speed, making him ideal for roaming around the map and securing teams for his team. He may not be able to close out games for his team due to his non-existent tower pushing ability, but he is able to spearhead his team into an advantageous position that more often than not, secures the game due to an unproportionate lead.

11. Templar Assassin

Image
Body Image

Templar Assassin is one of the situational hero picks. If you pick her and the enemy has no Damage-Over-Time (DOT) or lacks lockdown, the game is pretty much over from the very beginning. Templar farms extremely fast for a ranged hero and does immense levels of physical damage that can very quickly overwhelm the enemy by the 15 minute mark. Templar is an exceptionally powerful hero that can be played in both the position 1 and 2 position and can only be brought down with specific hero choices. This makes her a notable hero choice for your solo ranked matches.

You can find Templar’s skill list as follows: https://dota2.fandom.com/wiki/Templar_Assassin

Reasons why you should pick Templar for ranked solo queue:

  • Templar is an exceptionally strong carry that is able to hit multiple enemy units at the same time. This not only makes her a potent damage dealer in team fights, but enables her to flash farm very quickly and gain core items before the enemy team is even able to react. In order to do this effectively, stacking camps and efficient farming patterns are necessary.
  • Templar Assassin’s can single handedly close out games as she does large amounts of physical damage that not only allows her to dominate in team fights, but push towers very quickly.
  • Templar Assassin’s signature ability “refraction”  is essentially a shield that fully mitigates damage. This makes bursting her with large damage sources impossible and extremely costly for the enemy team.
  • She is able to place traps around the map which provides vision and is able to detonate whenever she commands. This makes her very strong to scout out potential enemy ganks, prepare for a fight, or ensnare victims that wander unawaringly into her domain.
  • Templar is one of the few heroes that can reliably solo kill Roshan the titan due to her ability to take no damage from her refraction shields. This gives her the upper advantage as well as extra life to further snowball and become an unstoppable force.

10. Necrophos

Image
Body Image

Necrophos is a very stable pick for Solo queue ranked matches due to his ability to be extremely resourceful and rely on his own abilities to obtain victory.

Necrophos is a unique hero in that he is an intelligence hero that essentially plays as a tank. He has a large resource of necromancy spells that tilts the balance between life and death itself. Necrophos is a potent hero to choose when there are ample amounts of physical damage coming from the enemy team or if the enemy team heavily relies on the use of their auto-attack based hard carry. If you enjoy standing amidst the enemy’s team and being the center of attention, Necrophos has you covered!

Necrophos’ skills an be found via the link below: https://dota2.fandom.com/wiki/Necrophos

Reasons to choose Necrophos for Ranked Solo Queue:

  • Necrophos is an extremely strong hero to use in competitive matchmaking as he is almost impossible to win a lane against. He is one of the top tier survivalist tanks in the game, being incredibly hard to take down especially in the lower ranks without a coordinated attack from the enemy team.
  • Necrophos is deceptively tanky. He has a large amount of burst heal abilities which double up as damage abilities.
  • Necrophos has one of the best sustaining abilities in the game. For every life he takes, whether it be a small critter or a hulking hero, Necrophos gains passive health and mana regeneration. This makes his spells spammable and essentially free to use. As such, Necrophos is one of the best blow-for-blow traders in the game, able to cripple his opponents bit by bit.
  • Necrophos has decent farming mechanisms, allowing him to build more items that can either provide utility to his team or beef himself up into an unstoppable tanky machine.
  • Necrophos can cover himself into a ghostly shroud that prevents him from taking any physical damage and amplifies healing effects. This makes him the perfect weapon to deal with right click based heroes such as Phantom Assassin, Slardar, Legion Commander and Weaver.
  • Necrophos’ ultimate is a point target ability that essentially gives him a reaper’s scythe to cut down enemies that are reasonably damaged. The damage is based on how much health the opponent is missing. This means Necrophos is highly effective against critical targets such as position one hard carries as well as high health pool targets that are hard to bring down.

9. Broodmother

Image
Body Image

If you have arachnophobia, then you should probably skip this hero. If not, well then you are in for a treat as this is one of the cheesiest heroes in Dota 2. What does that mean? Well Broodmother, more so that Templar Assassin, is a hero that when situationally picked, can essentially win the game entirely by herself. She is essentially an overly large spider, with an overly large appetite and an army of her spawn.

You can find his the spider’s skills in the link: https://dota2.fandom.com/wiki/Broodmother

Reasons why you should pick Broodmother:

  • Broodmother is a summoning hero, meaning that her skill set revolves around summoning minions to do her bidding, and complimenting that with abilities that support her spawns.
  • Broodmother can summon the largest number of creatures in the game, spawning spiderlings in staggering numbers that can overwhelm any enemy that doesn’t have any wave clearing ability. As such, Broodmother is a very strong hero to choose in ranked solo queue matches when there are no opponents that have AOE abilities.
  • Broodmother utilizes her spiderlings to great effect, using them to catch enemies and poison them down, or siege towers and push objectives. Enemies without any sort of wave clearing ability such as Vengeful Spirit or Skywrath Mage literally cannot contest Broodmother else face the wrath of her swarm to which they can do nothing about.
  • It can take an entire team to deal with Broodmother’s swarm which leaves the rest of her allies space to push objectives, farm, or join her in her quest.
  • In addition to being able to swarm enemies with large numbers, Broodmother is also a very reasonable combatant herself, having damage boosting abilities and lifesteal. She is also a very mobile hero, making it such that even if the opponent does find a way to counter her, she will still be a nuisance regardless.

8. Timbersaw

Image
Body Image

Rizzrack the lumberjack is as fun of a hero to play as he is powerful. Timbersaw is one of those heroes like Necrophos and Broodmother that do exceptionally well when situationally picked, meaning that they already have a significant chance to win the game even before the game has begun. Though he is a bit harder to learn than the other offlaners, he is extremely tanky and should be picked up when you notice the enemy team has a lot of physical damage dealers or auto attackers. Players wishing to learn an extremely fun and enjoyable hero that can contribute largely to winning ranked games will do right to choose Timbersaw.

Timbersaw’s skill set: https://dota2.fandom.com/wiki/Timbersaw

Reasons to choose Timbersaw:

  • Timbersaw rewards high skill with high damage numbers. Most of his spells do pure damage. This sort of damage is rare in the game and ignores enemy armor and magic resistance.
  • He can be a very mobile hero. The hero whips out a chain that latches onto a tree and pulls him towards it. If you miss the tree, this can sometimes cost you your life.
  • Extremely spammable spells. Your spells all have very low cooldowns which you can utilize to punish your enemies for getting near you. This is very effective for trading with the enemy in lane and forces the enemy to either jungle early or risk potentially dying at every engagement.
  • Timbersaw is usually extremely hard to kill from level 5 onwards due to his passive ability and can siege towers well in the offlane. Once the enemy’s towers have been taken, he can either continue to push the offlane to shift the enemies focus to him, or he can group with his team to push objectives. Either way, Timbersaw is a highly effective hero that requires a lot more coordination from his opponents as he is to play.

7. Ursa

Image
Body Image

Ulfsaar the Ursa warrior is one of the fiercest physical burst damage heroes in the game. He is often an underestimated hero especially amongst beginners who do not abuse this hero’s limitless damage stacks. The hero does decently in the laning stage and can quickly take over the mid-game if left unchecked.

His late game can additionally be problematic for enemy carries as he is one of the best brawlers in the game and is considerably tanky. This hero can take the game on his own, soloing enemy heroes who are silly enough to get too close to him, and even taking on the giant Roshan himself with ease.

Ursa’s skill set can be found in the link: https://dota2.fandom.com/wiki/Ursa

Reasons to choose Ursa:

  • Ursa’s damage quickly adds up the more he hits a target within a certain time. This makes him an excellent position 1 that can essentially deal limitless damage with his auto attacks.
  • Ursa is a great hero to take into solo ranked as your position 1 hard carry as he can be played as a greedy core as well as an aggressive one. The choice between the two depends on the team compositions and whether or not you need to close out games quickly.
  • If the enemy hard carry is a stronger carry than you, you will usually opt for more aggressive items to ensure that the opponent does not reach their timings and to pressure them into a tighter space.
  • Ursa is the best hero to solo Roshan in his pit due to his stacking damage that can see Ursa hitting a couple of hundred damage onto the beast.
  • Ursa is not fragile like some hard carries, making him less likely to get bursted during a gank and survive the encounter. His ultimate also assists in this, giving him an 80% reduction to all sources of damage. This is the highest damage reduction in the game that turns even the most damaging spells such as Lina’s ultimate, into nothing more than a scratch.

6. Wraith King

Image
Body Image

Ostarion the wraith knight commands a legion of skeletons, rightfully naming himself as the king of the skeletons and all that is dead. The hero wields a mighty claymore that hits hard and cleaves through enemy ranks like a knife through butter. Ostarion is a deadly hero who carries his own way to greatness and is valuable to have in any match up. The Wraith King is an extremely strong pick in the solo queue due to the nature of his skill set that allows him to rely less on his team mates and more on his own decision making. He is able to dominate lanes, but if out-laned, he is one of the best recoverable heroes in the game due to his amazing flash farming capabilities.

Wraith King’s skills can be found here: https://dota2.fandom.com/wiki/Wraith_King

Reasons to pick Wraith King in ranked solo queue matches:

  • He is an incredibly strong brawler, capable of decimating enemy supports in a couple of hits.
  • Wraith King has a relatively easy skillset, making him a reliable hero to practice on and get good at.
  • Wraith King has extremely strong sustaining abilities that allow him to heal off every attack that he makes. This makes him an efficient trader in lane, eventually whittling the enemy out of the lane allowing himself to farm uncontested.
  • Ostarion is able to summon a horde of skeletons that can either farm gold for him, join him in battle to do some extra damage or push enemy towers. This enables him to farm at an extremely fast pace and work himself up to become an incredibly strong carry even in the roughest of games.
  • He has a strong and reliable lock on stun that gives him the ability to close the gap between the opponent and himself.
  • Last but not least, Wraith King is able to rise from the dead. That’s right! He has two lives! As if taking him down once was hard enough! This gives your team some extra time to regroup and gives you a chance to enter the battle once more to turn the tides of battle.

5. Pudge

Image
Body Image

Pudge the butcher is one of the most powerful heroes of patch 7.31d. He is also the most picked hero in Dota 2’s history due to rather fun and satisfying toolkit and playstyle. Though he may not seem like it, Pudge is a very multi-talented hero in that he can serve many purposes. He is a fearsome fighter and initiator yet also a great savior for his allies. He can do incredible magical damage as well as being a very strong disabler. For this reason, Pudge is one of the most powerful heroes right now and is a solid hero to pick for you solo ranked ladder journey.

Pudge’s skills and abilities can be found here: https://dota2.fandom.com/wiki/Pudge

Reasons to choose Pudge for solo ranked queues:

  • He does well in lane due to his tankiness and has one of the highest right click damage at level one. This makes his last hitting capability insanely strong, such that he is able to farm gold reliably as well as deny a lot of his opponents farm at the same time.
  • Much like DawnBreaker, Pudge can play a variety of roles. As of Patch 7.31d, Pudge can literally play every single position for his team, making him a great first pick hero, allowing your team to counter pick the opponents lineup much easier.
  • Pudge is a very versatile hero, meaning he can build a wide variety of items to suit his team's needs. If his team needs more lockdown and initiating abilities, he can build a Blink Dagger. If his team needs something to deal with tanky opponents, he can build a Spirit Vessel. If he needs to be a frontliner, Pudge can build a Vanguards and a Hood of Defiance. The list goes on and on, making him a flexible hero that is perfect for pushing for the win in Solo ranked Matchmaking.
  • Pudge’s signature ability, his hook, is one of the game’s best repositioning tools that can either drag enemies into good positions that your team can capitalize on, or save his allies from unfavorable engagements.
  • Strong magic immunity piercing stun that can lock down a target for a very long duration.

4. Huskar

Image
Body Image

Huskar is a very top tier pick to choose in solo ranked matches due to his ability to become an unstoppable force that deals very strong damage over time. This hero is exceptionally powerful amongst beginners and professionals alike as he requires a huge amount of enemy focus in order to take down. He does mind numbing amounts of damage in the early and mid game and is able to even take down the titan Roshan by himself early on into the game, making him a strong position 1 or 2 core that is most of the time, largely responsible for obtaining victories.

Huskar’s skills and abilities can be found via the link below:

https://dota2.fandom.com/wiki/Huskar

Reasons to pick Huskar in in your ranked matches:

  • The hero is dominant at all stages of the game and is renowned for being increasingly harder to kill the closer to death he is. Finding the fine line between life and death and beating back the opponent when they think they have you against the rope makes this hero satisfying and interesting to play.
  • Huskar’s skill set allows him to jump straight into a fight and deal incredible damage over time. This makes him especially useful for ganks and turning fights around. Huskar loves to fight early and his high tempo plays make him a fearsome Mid-lane adversary.
  • Huskar’s infused fire spears allow him to not draw aggression from enemy creeps (the enemy foot soldiers). This allows him to harass his opponents without taking any damage and makes him an incredible lane dominator. Huskar players rarely lose their lane and opponents usually find it hard to stop him farming up crucial items such as Armlet of Mordiggian and Black King Bar.
  • Huskar’s spells are all low-cooldown abilities, meaning that he can fight again and again with little notice
  • The hero is able to sustain heavy amounts of magic damage due to his passive ability that strengthens proportionally to how low his health pool is. As his health gets lower, his health regeneration increases making huge amounts of burst damage necessary to take down this hero.
  • Purchasing an Armlet of Mordiggian is a must on this hero as it supplements his abilities very well, offering both a huge damage bonus as well as survivability if properly toggled. The damage taken from the active use of the Armlet is also offset by his incredible regeneration that he obtains and makes it so he can practically have the item active permanently without any repercussions.

3. Chaos Knight

Image
Body Image

Chaos Knight is an emissary of Chaos and the bringer of armageddon. His fearsome abilities invoke confusion and disarray which he utilizes in his ever-ending crusade to extinguish the Light from the Dota 2 universe. Chaos Knight is an extremely strong hero to choose in solo ranked matchmaking due to his insanely high damage output and rather reliable single-target lockdown abilities.

You can find his skill list as follows: https://dota2.fandom.com/wiki/Chaos_Knight

Reasons why you should pick Chaos Knight in ranked matchmaking:

  • Chaos Knight boasts considerably high damage throughout the game, meaning that he is viable in most matchups
  • Chaos Knight's high lockdown stun and harassment abilities allow him to destroy his opponents safe lane, making him a reasonable hero to pick against greedier line-ups. This means that sometimes you are able to close the game even from the get-go of the early game due to the sheer dominance you offer and the enemy’s inability to do anything about it once you reach a certain level of farm.
  • Chaos knight rarely loses his lane and even if he does, he still has amazing farming abilities that can allow him to catch up.
  • The Chaos Knight is a rather flexible core hero in that he can play positions 1 and 3 rather effectively. You could choose him as a position 1, but if he does get very hard countered by heroes such as Sand King, Phantom Lancer or Sven, you can simply play as an aggressive position 3 hero that still has the potential to nuke down pesky opposing supports.
  • Chaos Knight has a fairly simple ability list making him easy to learn
  • Chaos Knight has one of the longest duration single-target stuns in the game, meaning that the enemy hero isn’t going anywhere if they’re hit.
  • Chaos Knight ultimate can summon duplicates of himself to terrorize his opponents. Unlike other illusion heroes, Chaos Knight’s illusions are renowned for dealing full damage, meaning that Chaos knight has one of the highest burst damage numbers in the game. Compliment this ability with an activated Armlet of Mordiggian and you can increase his damage even further!

2. Tiny

Image
Body Image

Contrary to his name, Tiny is probably Dota 2’s largest hero by size when he is fully grown. Tiny is an excellent first pick hero choice in solo ranked matchmaking due to his flexibility to play whatever role suits him, as well as his strong utility and damage he provides at all stages of the game. Consequently, Tiny is a very popular pick in the professional scene and as such, is doubly the reason why he stands proud as the colossal giant of this top picks list.

Tiny’s skill set can be found here: https://dota2.fandom.com/wiki/Tiny

Why Tiny is a superb choice for solo ranked matchmaking:

  • The hero has very impressive stats that make him a tanky hero and viable frontliner
  • Tiny is extremely versatile, being able to be played in a variety of positions and does not have many counters
  • The hero can be played as a very strong position 1 carry that farms incredibly fast and is one of the strongest early game fighters in the game. Tiny does immense physical AOE damage due to his cleaving auto attacks, which can decimate hordes of enemies.
  • The hero has a decent AOE disable which is not common amongst position 1 hard carries, as well as a point target utility ability that can be used for a range of purposes.
  • Tiny is the strongest auto attacking tower pusher in the game due to his tree grab ability which allows him to do bonus damage to structures. This makes him a very valuable tool to destroy enemy positions if he needs to rat lanes (play away from the enemy opponents) or group and push towers with teammates.
  • You will find that structures just melt away if you have a Tiny in your team.
  • Tiny comes online very early as a position 1 hard carry, meaning he can be pushing objectives with your team by the 15 minute mark as soon as his Aghanim Shard purchase is ready.
  • Tiny is an excellent ganker and roamer, attributed to his high burst damage and stun lock abilities. This gives him the ability to play in the Mid-lane, Offlane and support positions, adding a pace to the game which more often than not, he dictates.

1. Bristleback

Image
Body Image

We’re now at the top of the list. At the top of the list, we have one of the tankiest heroes alive, Bristleback!

Bristleback is currently a top tier hero as of patch 7.31d due to his immense strength in the early and mid game, and his versatility in playing the core positions. Bristleback has very early timings that when supported by his team's early efforts, can seal the game before the 25 minute mark in the higher ranks. If you are relatively new and/or climbing the lower ranks of the ladder, Bristleback is still a worthy hero choice due to his incredible damage and his very tanky skill set, even in the late game.

Bristleback’s skills can be found in the link: https://dota2.fandom.com/wiki/Bristleback

Why Bristleback is the perfect Solo Ranked hero choice:

  • The hero can serve as one of the game’s most tankiest heroes. Bristleback is so tanky he can withstand even the strongest attacks, tanking even the enemy fountain itself! The only drawback is that Bristleback needs to be facing away from the enemy’s damage for him to receive the largest damage reductions. This is simple enough when you are trying to run away from a bad engagement.
  • The hero has incredible physical damage both from his auto attacks as well as his quill sprays that can stack up to a ridiculous amount of times. He can do upwards of 350 damage from his auto attacks just from his passive ability. This is essentially the same as a divine rapier, the strongest damage item in the game. This means that he can essentially 3 hit an enemy support.
  • Bristleback is an excellent farmer due to his quill spray, which gives him the ability to do damage in an AOE and hit multiple creeps at once.
  • Bristleback usually builds items that make him tankier as he already dishes out a lot of damage, meaning that he is even harder to kill.
  • He is able to do damage whilst moving, meaning that even if you are running away or running towards an enemy, you can be consistently doing damage.
  • Being extremely hard to kill, Bristleback is one of the best frontliners, providing essential vision for your team to follow up on.
  • Bristleback’s Aghanim's Scepter gives him an incredible AOE slow, which is very useful for kiting annoying hard carries, catching up to pesky supports or deterring enemies from chasing him. This is usually a very core purchase for Bristleback giving him the ability to have substantial impact on large team brawl outs.
  • Bristle back scales very well, making him a very strong and hard to kill core hero that is powerful at all stages of the game.
