In this article, we will identify and explain the top five best unhooking builds for a survivor that are amazingly useful during unhooking situations and incredible to use in the game of Dead By Daylight.
Let the top 5 builds escape the fog and reveal themselves:
5. The Self-Unhook Procedure Build
Build presented by: Nea7x
The Self-Unhook Procedure Build is a build that will allow you to self-unhook in critical situations. It is a build that is not often recommended as it contains the perk slippery meat, which is not always a good perk to use and is not often effective, as it can be easily countered if the killer is nearby. Nonetheless, with the perk combination of Decisive Strike, it will allow for a greater chance to escape and easily counter the camping if the killer, as immediately if you were to get downed and picked up by the killer, you can easily stun the killer using the perk and therefore be able to escape. Extremely effective in places such as the basement, where escaping might be difficult because of the time required to go upstairs, where the killer might be able to reach you in time and hook you again.
In conclusion, it is a build great to use where you want to unhook yourself and have a guaranteed escape even if the killer is nearby or if the killer has gone away, enabling you to use unbreakable where you can pick yourself from the ground, and therefore allow you to escape flawlessly.
What The Self-Unhook Procedure Build Excels In:
- The combination of the perks of 'up the ante' and 'slippery meat' will allow you to increase the percentage rate and the chance of self-unhooking, where additionally you will have the chance of unhooking yourself up to 6 times, pretty much guaranteeing you to unhook at least every 4-5 games, compared to the usual 10-15 games.
- With a Decisive strike, you have the chance to stun the killer once the killer picks you up, and it is very effective, especially after being unhooked, as it will avoid the anti-camping method by the killer, where you are immediately put into dying state after unhooking, leaving you hooked straight after.
- With unbreakable, you have the chance to recover from the dying state, and it is effective where the killer has downed multiple survivors at once, where you have the chance to pick yourself up once another survivor is picked up.
Build Details:
The build details consist of the perks included in the build, with a detailed description of each perk to give you an idea of how the unhooking build works with each individual perk.
- Slippery Meat - Grants 3 additional Self-Unhook attempts. Increases the Self-Unhook chance by 2/3/4 %.
- Decisive Strike - After being unhooked or unhooking yourself, the Decisive Strike activates for the next 40/50/60 seconds: When being grabbed or picked up by the Killer, succeed a Skill Check to escape their grasp, stunning them for 3 seconds automatically. Successfully stunning the Killer will disable Decisive Strike for the remainder of the Trial and result in you becoming the Obsession. While Decisive Strike is active, performing Conspicuous Actions will deactivate it for the remainder of the Trial. Decisive Strike deactivates once the Exit Gates are powered. Increases the odds of becoming the Killer's initial Obsession by +100 %. The Killer can only be obsessed with one Survivor at a time.
- Up the Ante - Your confidence strengthens the feeling of hope for those around you. For Each Survivor still in the Trial, Up the Ante gains 1 Token. Each Token applies a stackable 1/2/3 % bonus to the Luck of all Survivors, up to a maximum of 3/6/9 %.
- Unbreakable - Once per Trial, you can completely recover from the Dying State. Your Recovery speed is increased by 25/30/35 %.

4. The Pro Unhooker Build
Build presented by: Br00d
The Pro Unhooker Build is a build that will allow you to unhook survivors, especially throughout the end of the game, where this build will allow you to maximise the performance needed to get that survivor off safely. With perks such as Guardian and Borrowed Time, it will allow you to get survivors off easily and with no hesitation, making it difficult for the killer to spot and hunt the selected survivors who got off the hook. With the perk 'No one left behind', the unhooking and healing would be much faster than usual, allowing you to get the survivors off in critical situations and escape flawlessly.
In conclusion, it is a build highly recommended in teamwork plays, where this build is highly advantageous when it comes to the support of other survivors, allowing you to boost healing and unhooking as if you were to be a nurse throughout the whole game, creating a perfect advantageous tactic where you will be healing whilst other survivors are repairing generators and chasing with the killer, creating perfect chemistry.
What The Pro Unhooker Build Excels In:
- The powerful combination of the perks, desperate measures and no one left behind during the end-game, where you have the ability to heal survivors very fast just after unhooking them, with the total percentage combination of 106% total speed boost, will allow you to heal survivors at twice the speed.
- The combination of guardian and borrowed time allows you to unhook survivors safely. They both have an extended duration of the endurance status effect and the ability to extend their haste status effect.
- The perk Guardian can be useful in critical situations, as the perk is treated more like an anti-camping perk where the killer might have no idea where the unhooked survivor went. Additionally, you can easily lose the killer just by the ability to see the killer's aura for around 8 seconds.
Build Details:
The build details consist of the perks included in the build, with a detailed description of each perk to give you an idea of how the unhooking build works with each individual perk.

3. The Unhook & Run Build
Build presented by:
The Unhook & Run Build is a build that combines the theme of unhooking, healing and escape where the build mainly concentrates on you not having to be included within the radius or eye contact of the killer, whereas when you unhook and heal the survivor with fast perks such as we'll make it and botany knowledge, you can easily make a great escape, and escape the killer if it decides to come after you, especially with the perk Lithe which is incredibly powerful as it will allow you to vault through any windows, and make it much harder for the killer to catch you as they would either have to vault as well very slowly or go around the obstacles which will take much more time.
In conclusion, with a great combination of healing & unhooking boosts, and the overall escape which can be used for critical situations, where you can easily escape the killer if it decides to come after you, especially whilst injured where you can easily recover after escaping, making it a great build.
What The Unhook & Run Build Excels In:
- The combination of desperate measures, we'll make it, and botany knowledge will allow you to heal a survivor at extreme speeds, with percentages up to 206%, which is incredibly fast, making it too fast for the killer to catch up and put the survivor in a dying state.
- With lithe, it is a great perk to use in situations where the killer is coming towards you after healing the survivor, therefore allowing you to use the perk to escape the killer flawlessly, with just the need of vaulting a window.
- With the perk desperate measures, you can increase the unhooking speeds up to 56%, which is fast enough to unhook the survivor just before the killer comes and tries to get a grab, especially effective during camping.
Build Details:
The build details consist of the perks included in the build, with a detailed description of each perk to give you an idea of how the unhooking build works with each individual perk.

2. The Speedy Saver Build
Build presented by: Ayrun
The Speedy Saver Build is a build that can unhook and save survivors in a jiffy. The combination of perks such as spine chill, resilience, desperate measures and no one left behind will allow you to gain an ultimate unhook "and" speed boost of around 130%, which is incredibly fast, allowing you to progress within the game much faster and efficiently, whilst the other survivors are either on the generators or running with the killer. Nonetheless, the perks include expertise in unhooking and healing and other actions, such as repairing generators, blessing totems, etc., creating advantageous boost progress within the game.
In conclusion, it is a build recommended for unhooking and healing survivors. When it comes to the game, it is mainly recommended to have a strategy where only one of the survivors has this build, allowing your team to have different parts where you can progress within the game successfully, such as where one teammate has a sector for healing, another for repairing, another for aura revealing, and lastly the last survivor who has a build made for chasing with the killer, making it amazing chemistry. Overall, when it comes to healing and unhooking, this is a very good build, which I personally would recommend.
What The Speedy Saver Build Excels In:
- The speed of all the perks will allow you to unhook survivors at an ultimate speed boost of around 130%, which is incredibly fast, enabling you to unhook the survivors just before the killer comes, or great for anti-camping.
- The powerful combination of the perks, desperate measures and no one left behind during the end-game, where you can heal survivors very fast just after unhooking them, with the total percentage combination of 106% total speed boost, will allow you to heal survivors at twice the speed.
- With resilience, your action speeds are significantly increased. Therefore, any progress in the game is significantly increased, especially with any action the survivors do, such as unhooking, which will allow you to unhook 6% faster whilst injured.
Build Details:
The build details consist of the perks included in the build, with a detailed description of each perk to give you an idea of how the unhooking build works with each perk.
- Spine Chill - Whenever the Killer is within 36 metres of your location, Spine Chill activates, lighting up its icon. Spine Chill will reveal its intensity using its icon if a Terror Radius is present. Suppose the Killer is within range and looking at you with a clear line of sight. In that case, you benefit from the following effect: Increases your Action speeds in Repairing, Healing, Sabotaging, Unhooking, Cleansing, Blessing, Opening, and Unlocking by 2/4/6 %. This effect lingers for 0.5 seconds.

1. The Ultimate No Time To Die Build
Build presented by: Gaming - NanoBourne
The Ultimate No Time To Die Build is a build that creates nature and chemistry of protecting, unhooking and healing survivors, allowing for a top-performance unhooking build that will leave the killer momentarily confused and most likely struggling to press his disconnected button so that the killer could run away from the pressure that is taken from this build. It is a build that is mainly top-tier in unhooking styles, allowing for a greater chance of unhooked survivors not being caught by the killer in many ways possible, maximising the efficiency and the time, and allowing for other survivors to progress within the game.
In conclusion, this is a build that is well deserved to be in the number one spot because its main unhooking styles allow for a greater possibility of tactics to be used and therefore, with perks such as borrowed time and We'll make it, it is will not only defend and protect the survivors but also heal them in time before the killer comes, making it a great perk.
What The Ultimate No Time To Build Excels In:
- The combination of botany knowledge, and we'll make it, allows for a greater speed to be performed whilst healing, therefore, allowing for a maximum percentage of 150%, which should be able to heal a survivor fully in less than 4 seconds.
- With the perks of borrowed time and guardian, it will maximise the potential of the unhooked survivor not to get hit or found by the killer with the ability of the survivor to have blood and scratch marks suppressed, which will make it harder for the killer to find the survivor.
- Borrowed time is a great perk to have in the build as it can avoid the killer's anti-tunnelling; in other words, it will allow you to extend the duration of endurance, therefore if the killer is waiting for you to finish your original endurance when off the hook, the perk will put the killer off guard and therefore he will most like;y hit, allowing you to gain more distance.
