Pokemon TCG Supporter Cards

Hello all you fans of the Pokemon Trading Card Game and casual readers. Pokemon cards come in many different types. Among those types are Trainer cards. And among those Trainer cards there are Supporter cards. These powerful cards can be used once per turn and provide better effects than their other Trainer counterparts. But which are the best ones? That’s what we’re here to find out.

Today we’ll be looking at the top 10 Supporter cards in the Expanded format. If you are reading this in the far future this will take into account all cards released before August of 2021. Also no cards that were banned at that time will be included. We will be taking into account how strong of an effect the card provides and also how versatile that effect is. Theoretically, a Supporter card could provide 100 extra damage to an specific attack but if that attack is only found on one weak Pokemon, then that Supporter probably won’t be making this list. With that said, let's get into the list.

10. N

This Supporter card has each player shuffle their hand into their deck. They then draw cards equal to the number of prize cards that they have left. This card becomes much less powerful near the end of the game, but it is super useful if your opponent has a huge lead over you.

9. Colress

This Team Plasma Supporter card shuffles your hand into your deck and draws cards for each Benched Pokemon (both your and your opponent’s). This card has an incredibly variable level of power. Sometimes, you may be in a position where it does nothing. Other times, you may be able to draw up to 16 cards. I personally think it’s worth playing in almost any Expanded deck.

8. Brigette

At the time this card was released, EX cards were the height of power. Therefore, this card lets you search your deck for three Basic Pokemon or one Basic EX and put them onto your bench. However, since then powerful GX and V cards have been released without this card being updated. Having the power to get any three Basic Pokemon you want is incredibly useful and can fill your bench almost instantly.

7. Professor’s Research

This card's effect is simple and powerful. You discard your hand and draw seven cards. In Expanded there are many cards that you may even want to discard.

6. Cynthia

This card shuffles your hand into your deck and then draws six cards. It is a great alternative to Professor’s Research if there are cards that you don’t want to discard.

5. Lusamine

One way that you can lose a Pokemon game is by decking out. As long as you’re playing two Lusamine’s in your deck, there’s almost no way that can happen. In fact, this card was banned at one time because it made stall decks way too good. It has since been unbanned. Lusamine puts two in any combination of Supporter and Stadium cards from your discard pile into your hand. As long as you keep getting back one of your Lusamines, you’ll always have cards.

4. Boss’s Orders

Boss’s Orders allows you to switch one of your opponent’s Benched Pokemon with their Active Pokemon. This card can instantly end the game and is crucial in almost any deck. It’s no good by itself though. You still need to have good attacking Pokemon set up to finish off the game.

3. Welder

For a long time, this card was the best way to accelerate energy in the entire game. This supporter attaches two fire energy from your hand to one of your Pokemon. Then you draw three cards. Also note that this card doesn’t specify a specific type to which you must attach.

2. Marnie

This card provides stable draw support and can also mess with your opponent. When you play it, both players shuffle their hands and put them on the bottom of their decks. This ensures that they won’t be getting those cards back for a little while. Then you draw five cards and your opponent draws four cards.

1. Cynthia & Caitlin

This powerful Tag Team Supporter has two effects. First, you may put a Supporter card from your discard pile back into your hand. Unfortunately this can’t be another Cynthia & Caitlin. When you play this card, you may also discard a card to draw three cards. Retrieving Supporters with added draw Supporter is something that pretty much every deck can use.
