10. Puri-Puri Chii-Chan!!

When Yuka comes across a yellow creature stuck in a hole, she rescues it. Awakening in her house, and touched by her kindness, the creature known as Chi-chan proclaims himself forever in her debt. This newfound friendship changes their lives for the better. Each episode is filled with new friends, adventures, and lots of wholesome hilarious goodness.

Why Puri-Puri Chii-Chan!! Makes you feel loved:

  • Kawaii animation
  • Kawaii intro and outro
  • Bluey levels of wholesome
  • Classic Spongebob levels of humor

9. School Babysitters

A young teen and his little brother only have each other when their parents die in a plane crash. They meet an elderly woman who lost her son and daughter-in-law in the same tragedy. She offers them a place in her house in exchange for the older brother to work as a daycare worker, which is located in the school he now attends. Their once lonely world is filled with the love of friends in their new lives.

Why School Babysitters makes you feel loved:

  • Cute babies
  • Family moments
  • The kind of highschool anime we need more of.

8. Welcome to Demon School! Iruma-kun!

Iruma is horrified (yet not surprised) to learn his parents had sold his soul to a demon. However, the Underworld is nothing like he imagined. And the demon he is sold to is nothing more than a kind yet lonely old man who only yearns for a grandson. Unable to say no, Iruma nervously accepts. Next thing he knows he’s off to school where demons of all kinds attend.

Why Welcome to Demon School! Iruma-kun makes you feel loved:

  • I think this is what Helluva Boss was trying to establish about how demons from Hell aren’t entirely awful creatures. Some of them are genuinely good people.
  • In this anime, there are more good people in Hell than there are in the human world. (Although, I’m pretty sure that also says a lot about our society)
  • Iruma is a nice kid who can’t say no because he doesn’t want to offend anyone! And he really does enjoy helping others (despite some people having taken advantage of him...like his parents).
  • And AWWW, the way he shows friendship to his demon classmates! Not even My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic could come up with something this good!

7. By the Grace of the Gods

Three gods take sympathy on a man whose life had been nothing but abuse and misery, who ended up dying a humiliating death. They give him the chance to start anew, as a young boy in a different world. Once he lands there, he discovers slime creatures and dedicates his time to raising them. For three years he has lived a peaceful life with just him and his slimes. Until he crosses paths with the first humans ever since his arrival.

Why By the Grace of Gods makes you feel loved:

  • Gets rid of the depression real quick!
  • We have a sweet boy (let’s forget that he used to be a grown man) who’s always helping others wherever he goes!
  • And the slimes are SO CUTE!

6. Hinako Note

Hinata moved to the city in hopes of attending her new school’s drama club. Shy but sweet, she longs to be more confident speaking to other people. She meets other girls who share the same interest, while also making her feel right at home. Soon, these new friends give her newfound confidence. And taking the stage doesn’t seem so scary anymore.

Why Hinata Note makes you feel loved:

  • I just adore Hinata and the other girls! Their personalities bounce off each other so well!
  • Every episode ends on a HAPPY NOTE! (no pun intended)
  • I love how much of the animation usually goes into chibi-fied territory! If “cute anime girl” was in the dictionary, these characters would be the image!

5. Nyanko Days

Months after starting high school, Yuuko is completely friendless with no intention of even approaching her classmates. However, her three wonderful humanoid kitties fill the void. Her love for cats suddenly catches the attention of her class’ most popular girl, who also has a cat. Suddenly, Yuuko has made a new friend after all!

Why Nyanko Days makes you feel loved:

  • Cats
  • Cats that look like tiny humans with ears and tails
  • Characters that love cats, especially ones that look like tiny humans with ears and tails

4. Elegant Yokai Apartment Life

Two years after losing his parents, Yushi Inaba planned to move out of his uncle’s home once he started high school. However, a fire breaks out and the dorms are burned down. Still determined to live independently, Inaba searches for an apartment that can accept his specific income. After fruitless attempts, he finally finds a place that he can get for much cheaper. The catch? It’s filled with yokai. However, as Inaba begins settling into the weird, supernatural complex, he realizes that the humans and yokai that live there are the family he truly needed.

Why Elegant Yokai Apartment Life makes you feel loved:

  • Friendship and family moments
  • The awe that is the supernatural
  • Forget My Hero Academia! The real powerful characters are in this anime!

3. Isekai Izakaya: Japanese Food From Another World

Nobu is a Japanese restaurant that is a big hit with the locals. Especially since said locals are from a different dimension of nobles, knights, and other Medieval types. Fascinated with their authentic Japanese food and delicious liquor, every day is a new recipe to try. And every day there is a new friend to be made. Over time, these new friends become the ticket to saving Nobu when it is threatened by greedy high-classmen.

Why Food From Another World makes you feel loved:

  • Food
  • Fun
  • Friendship

I just love the characters in this anime. Even though they’re from different places, they get along so well and help each other. (So why can’t WE be like that?)

This is the perfect anime to sit in front of while you’re eating Japanese food you just DoorDashed.

Although a word of warning, after every episode. You’ll just keep ordering. Because the food looks and tastes SO GOOD!

2. Jingai San No Yome

Hinowa was just an average high schooler living alone in his tiny apartment. Then suddenly he’s chosen to become the spouse of a mysterious creature called Kaneogi. While shocked and overwhelmed at first, the young human discovers how much marriage has filled the void he never knew he had. He meets other students who are married to jingai. Together, they share the joys their marriages have given them and how much they adore their nonhuman significant others.

Why Jingai San No Yome makes you feel loved:

  • A happy marriage between two different species, especially when one of them is nonhuman
  • Harmless adventures
  • Caring friends and creatures

I know what you’re thinking: “WTF is going on?”

Creatures marrying high school students? Yeah, even the manga doesn’t explain how this all happened and why.

Which is another reason why I’m so desperate for another book. Another season. Anything that’ll give this underrated anime attention.

Compared to other anime, this one isn’t so weird and actually tame. I know furries will be on board with this.

And let’s be honest. The romance here feels more genuine compared to the shipping garbage you see in Sword Art Online or even the entire Naruto franchise.

Sakura WISHES she had a marriage like Hinowa.

1. How to Keep a Mummy

Sora’s self-proclaimed adventurer father sends him a sarcophagus. After all the other supernatural gifts he’s received in the past, Sora worries this will be another kind of malevolent creature. However, as soon as he opens it, out comes a tiny mummy who immediately clings to him. Naming him Mii-kun, Sora and his new mummy companion begin getting to know each other. Over time, they’ve come to realize just how much they’ve become good friends and family.

This needs another freaking season because never in my life have I ever called a mummy cute!

Why How to Keep a Mummy makes you feel loved:

  • The wholesomeness between the human and nonhuman characters is so adorable!
  • Like Bluey levels of adorable!
  • Even more adorable than Bluey!
