The bear villagers are a type of species in the Animal Crossing series. They're also a taller version of the cubs. In total, sixteen bear villagers have appeared throughout the Animal Crossing games, but only fifteen are available in New Horizons.
You may consider adding a bear to your island for one of the following reasons:
Series Staple
Bears have appeared in every Animal Crossing game since the beginning, which makes them iconic and easily recognizable.
Abundant
Since the bear species has been around for so long, there are plenty of bear villagers players may want to add to their islands.
Preference
At the end of the day, you can shape your island however you wish in Animal Crossing: New Horizons. You might want a bear villager to match your island's aesthetic, or maybe you'll come across a bear that just speaks to you.
10. Ursala
Image
She looks so anxious. Is she okay?
Ursala may not be a popular villager, but she still holds a bit of charm. Interestingly, she went through a personality shift between games from a snobbish type to someone with more positive traits. And due to her hobby, you may find her tendency to sing and dance quite endearing.
Appearances: Animal Forest, Animal Forest+, Animal Crossing, Animal Forest e+, New Leaf: Welcome Amiibo, Pocket Camp, New Horizons
9. Beardo
Image
What a fine-looking gentleman.
Beardo is also somewhat of an unpopular villager, but he has more going for him. Beardo is the perfect villager if you want a detective-like character for your island. His Sherlock Holmes-esque appearance and gentlemanly personality help Beardo fit seamlessly with the detective/mystery aesthetic. On another note, he has great taste in music.
Appearances: New Leaf, Happy Home Designer, amiibo Festival, Pocket Camp, New Horizons
8. Charlise
Image
Now here's a bear I can get behind.
Charlise marks the start of the more likable bears on the list. Like Ursala, she also switches into a sisterly type in later games. Charlise is a cute villager, but her passion for fitness shines in her design and more so in her interior. She's the perfect balance of an adorable, yet strong villager.

7. Klaus
Image
I hope nobody tries to gang up on him.
Klaus stands out in many ways. He is one of the few villagers who possibly has a nationality. The name “Klaus” has German roots, and his catchphrase "strudel" is also a German dessert. Ironically, he resembles a Roman senator from the Bronze Age. Klaus is like Animal Crossing’s version of Julius Caesar, no doubt opening a myriad of possibilities for players to use Klaus in their photo shoots on Harv's Island.
Klaus’ Stats:
Gender: Male

6. Groucho
Image
He's not such a mean bean after all!
Groucho may be a grouch (it's literally in the name), but there's a cool vibe about him. He's competitive and enjoys music. Also, you have to wonder if the scratch marks on Groucho's head are scars or simply orange strips of hair.
Groucho's Stats:
Gender: Male
Personality: Cranky
Species: Bear
Birthday: October 23rd (Libra)
Quote: “Rocky road is more than just a flavor of ice cream.”

5. Grizzly
Image
I bet Grizzly is great at telling ghost stories.
Grizzly is another cranky villager like Groucho, but his appearance makes him seem more approachable. Getting along with him might be difficult at first, but he's truly a nice guy. Grizzly's interior also reflects a camp vibe about him, as if he enjoys sitting by the campfire while gazing up at the starry night sky.

4. Teddy
Image
All smiles, no frowns here.
Teddy isn't the bear you think he is. With his thick eyebrows and closed eyes, he looks just like Brock from Pokémon. It gives the impression of someone who's always relaxed, but this contrasts with Teddy's jock personality. Teddy is always on the move and far from laid-back. Interestingly, he appears on the album covers for Neapolitan and Mr. K.K., which isn't surprising, but rarely do villagers appear on the cover of their favorite song.
Teddy's Stats:
Gender: Male
Personality: Jock
Species: Bear
Birthday: September 26th (Libra)
Quote: “No pain, no gain!”
Initial Phrase: “grooof”

3. Pinky
Image
What a legend.
Longtime fans of Animal Crossing might recognize Pinky from the cover of the first game. She also appears on the covers of Mr. K.K. and K.K. Parade. You could say Pinky is quite famous. Pinky’s looks bring her peppy nature to life and she's the perfect villager for a traditional Japanese-styled island.

2. Tutu
Image
Does Tutu have a matryoshka doll tucked away somewhere?
Tutu is the perfect villager if you love all things pink and cute. You can't say no to a lively villager with an adorable face and a bubbly voice. Similar to Klaus, Tutu could be inspired by Russian culture. Tutu's name relates to ballet, she's a polar bear, and K. K. Steppe was played in her home in older games.
Tutu’s Stats:
Gender: Female
Personality: Peppy
Species: Bear
Birthday: September 15th (Virgo)
Quote: “Even best friends start out as strangers!”

Made of sugar, spice, and everything nice!

Even her Japanese name is Candy. You're going to adore Megan if you love pastel colors and total sweethearts.
