1. Faker was born on May 7, 1996 in Seoul, South Korea.

2. He was raised by his grandparents and father, Lee Kyung-joon, in Gangseo District, Seoul.

3. Faker began playing games at the age of 12 and when he discovered League of Legends in 2011, he quickly became a great player.

4. Faker got his introduction into MOBA’s with a game called 'Chaos', also a MOBA. He credits it as a factor to his easy transition to play League of Legends.

5. Faker signed on with SKT Telecom TI in 2013 when he was only 17 years old.  

6. He dropped out of high school to go play for SKT, but did say he wants to continue his education when he retires.

7. Faker has often been praised as a god or the Demon King of League of Legends. He began rising to that title after his Zed outplay of KT Rolster Bullet’s mid laner Ryu Sang-wook in the 2013 League of Legends World Championships.

8. Faker is one of only two players, along with a former teammate Bengi, to have won the League of Legends World Championship three times, having done so in the 2013, 2015 and 2016 seasons.

9. He is one of four players to have defended their World Championships title successfully.

10. Dustin Beck, the Vice President of Riot, called him the “Michael Jordan” of League of Legends at a press conference at the Staples Center. .

11. Faker is one of the highest paid players in all competitive gaming. In 2014, he was listed as one of the youngest and top-paid players, making about $255,575 per year.

13. Before deciding on the name Faker, he used the ID 고전파 (which translates to “classical”) when he was an amateur.

15. Faker was once signed in a contract with Azubu, a broadcast network that focuses on e-sports.

16. Faker’s first stream on Twitch.tv was on December 6 , 2017. His stream peaked at over 245,000 concurrent viewers, making it one of the, if the not the top, most-watched stream hosted by an individual in Twitch history.

17. During the League of Legends 2013 World Championships, SKT Telecom had two teams: SKT Telecom T 1 and 2, though they were later renamed to SKT Telecom T1 K and S. SKT Telecom T1 K, which Faker was on, largely outperformed SKT Telecom T1 S thanks to Faker’s performance, later leading to SKT Telecom T1 S merging into SKT Telecom T1 K.

18. Faker and SKT have played in 23 premier tournaments. The most he and SKT Telecom have won from a tournament is $2,028,000 in the 2016 World Championship.

19. He is best known for playing LeBlanc, Cassiopeia, Zed, Orianna, Ahri and Ryze in League of Legends.

20. Faker once said he wanted to be an athlete who’s remembered as a legend like Ronaldo.

21. Another big Faker moment was his emotional loss to Samsung Gaming in the 2017 World Championships. Faker, who is usually calm and composed, was seen crying at the end of the championship series.  

22. During his time off, Faker enjoys sleeping and reading.

23. Faker has earned many achievements such as the 2013 Republic of Korea e-sports destination League of Legends Most Valuable Player Award, 2015 Republic of Korea e-sports destination of Legends League Popularity Award, a2016 World Championship Most Valuable Player and the Game Awards’ 2017 Best Esports Player.

24. Faker has been known for taking champions and testing out their capabilities. One example of this was his amazing solo-queue performance with Riven on the North American server during the Season 3 World Championship, earning him a 92 % win rate in 24 games.

25. Faker is given books and t-shirts from his fans. He has been known to wear shirts that were given from his fans. These shirts have the days of the week on them.
