High School is a scary time for all of us: acne, grades, worrying about what your peers think about you and to be fair I could probably go on forever. However, I assume none of us had a high school experience like some of these anime characters have. So whether you are procrastinating on doing some homework or looking for something to watch while you're skipping school, here’s a great list of eerie education at it’s finest.
10) School Days
What at first sounds like a just a story of a love triangle, School Days is yet another anime that isn’t what it seems at first glance. The story starts with Makoto Itou, a school boy who notices pretty girl Kotonoha at school one day, immediately smitten. Friend and classmate Sekai takes notice of his attraction for Kotonoha and promises to help him get them together, for a price. This anime is filled with lies, deceit, sexual abuse and perhaps go as far as murder, what sounds like a modern day Shakespearean tragedy this story will keep you on your toes the deeper it gets.

9) School-Live!
It is the job of the School Living club at Megurigaoka High School to make school life the best for its students, but things are not always as they seem. We soon learn that these adorable girls have a much bigger problem at hands, a zombie apocalypse. Poor Yuki Takeya is unable to perceive what is going on around them as she acts blissfully unaware of the zombies, how will these girls make it out alive if one of their club members can’t even comprehend the horrors at hand?

After winning the affection of a new classmate of his, and finding out many of his other classmates have mysteriously died he grows suspicious. All he’s told by his aloof classmate Nemuru is to “stay away from the old part of the village.”

7) High School of The Dead
In a zombie ridden town, Highschool of the Dead focuses on a group of highschoolers and their companions as a zombie outbreak starts to affect their school, and ultimately the world. The unique group goes on a quest to hopefully find their family members, beat the zombies with their impressive combat and hopefully stay safe. We watch as this unlikely group of heroes navigate the undead world around them and try their best to make it out unscathed.

6) Hell Teacher Nube
A fun, loving teacher who wants nothing more to protect his students and keep his secret hidden. What is his secret? Under his glove he has a monster hand and he is a trained exorcist that is ready to defeat any ghosts or demons that come near his students. A More lighthearted horror than some of the other entries on this list, Hell Teacher Nube deals with all kinds of supernatural entities but has enough of a humor value to give you a warm fuzzy feeling by the end of it.

5) From The New World
In a future world, not much like our own, we meet Saki Watanabe, a girl whose psychic powers have awakened in her. Now in the present, the urban legend that is Boogiepop is back, once you meet Boogiepop you are no longer seen again. Is Boogiepop real? Or is it all in our minds. And where do these highschool students end up when they disappear?

The very gruesome cover art for Corpse Party: Tortured Souls. It really captures the gore that this series has.

1) Another
Kouichi Sakakibara just transferred to a new school. This new school sort of has a gloomy aura surrounding it, but what's even weirder is the girl with the eye patch that everybody ignores, even the teacher. Other students tell him not to befriend her but he does and suddenly his life is changed, as he feels he must get to the bottom of what's going on behind the scenes in class 3-3. Will him and his new friend be able to break the curse plaguing their classmates, or are they destined to meet the same fate?
