There are plenty of characters in Genshin Impact who are very energy hungry. And if you’re having a hard time getting your characters’ Bursts back on time, then you might want to consider running them alongside a battery. Battery characters are characters that quickly generate a lot of energy, which can greatly reduce the energy recharge requirements for the rest of your team. Rankings on this list are based on both a character’s Energy generation and what else they bring to the team. Which characters are the best for this role? Read on to find out!

10. Xingqiu (4 star)

Xingqiu always has his nose in a book.

If you’re looking for a Hydro battery, there aren’t a lot of options available. However, Xingqiu can be built to do the job very well. Here’s why you should use him:

  • Xingqiu’s Skill has a very long cooldown at 21 seconds, but it has very high particle generation. Each Skill cast will generate 5 energy particles. If you want to use him as a battery, equip him with a Sacrificial Sword and he’ll be able to generate 10 particles whenever the weapon’s effect is triggered.
  • Outside of his role as a battery, Xingqiu is a very strong character offering off-field Hydro application, strong damage, and damage reduction. This makes him very easy to slot into a lot of teams and contribute a lot more than just energy.

9. Diona (4 star)

Diona will protect your team and end Mondstadt's wine industry at the same time!

Diona is a shielder and healer, and she can be used as a solid Cryo battery. Here’s what you should know:

  • Diona’s hold Skill generates 5 particles, but it has a relatively long cooldown at 15 seconds. However, she’s very often run using the Sacrificial Sword in order to increase the uptime on her shield. This also increases her particle generation everytime the weapon triggers.
  • As a shielder and healer, Diona can combine your battery and defensive option into one unit. She has additional support at C6, adding an EM buff to her Burst. This allows her to contribute beyond her energy generation.

8. Kujou Sara (4 star)

No one is more loyal to the Shogun than Sara.

Kujou Sara is a buffer, granting an attack buff based on her own base attack. She’s a niche character, but she can be built as a battery in Electro teams. Keep these points in mind when building her:

  • Sara has very high Energy Recharge requirements, but building her with high ER helps you in two ways. First, it obviously allows you to get her Burst back on cooldown. Second, she has a passive talent that allows her to restore flat energy to your entire party based on her own ER stat after she uses her enhanced charged shot. This allows her to battery characters of any Element.
  • Sara is a more difficult and less flexible attack buffer than Bennett. But, if you have her C6 unlocked then she becomes a very potent buffer specifically for Electro characters by granting them an additional 60% crit damage bonus in addition to her attack buff. She’s a very niche character, but her buffs can be very strong when used in the right teams.

7. Dori (4 star)

Dori will do anything for Mora...

Dori is an Electro healer and energy support. She’s a unique character that can significantly reduce the ER requirements for your main on-fielder. If you want her to battery your team, here’s what you should know:

  • On paper, Dori’s Skill only produces 2 particles on a 9 second cooldown. However, this can be drastically increased with her passive talents. Thanks to one of her passives, she generates an additional 5 energy per 100 ER that she possesses per Skill cast. She’ll need to be built with quite a bit of ER, but if you build her with 200% ER, she’ll generate 12 particles per Skill. This is a lot of energy!
  • Dori’s Burst is her main battery ability. It tethers to your active character and provides healing and energy. This allows Dori to effectively battery any character, regardless of their Element. If you have her C4 unlocked, this is upgraded to additionally give your active character an ER bonus if their Energy is below 50%.
  • Dori isn’t the best option as a healer, as her healing is strictly single target and she is overshadowed by the likes of Kuki Shinobu for Electro teams. However, if you are in need of Energy support for your on-fielder, it’s nice to be able to combine your healer and support option into one team slot.

6. Sucrose (4 star)

Sucrose is working on another experiment.

Sucrose is an Anemo crowd control and Swirl support. She’s a very flexible unit, and she can effectively be used as a battery. Here’s how:

  • Sucrose’s Skill generates 4 particles on a 15 second cooldown. However, a great weapon for her is the Sacrificial Codex. This provides a useful EM substat and allows for back to back casts of her Skill. This not only increases her particle generation to 8, but it also allows for better crowd control abilities.
  • Sucrose is a very easy character to fit into a team. In addition to crowd control, she also provides a teamwide EM buff and Viridescent Venerer support. This makes it very easy to slot her into a wide variety of teams.

5. Bennett (4 star)

Bennett's bad luck is legendary.

Bennett is a Pyro healer and attack buffer support who is a great character in a very wide variety of teams. In addition to his strong single target healing and buffs, he can also be a strong Pyro battery. Here’s what you should keep in mind:

  • Bennett’s Skill produces 2-3 particles on a very short cooldown of 4 seconds. Within his Burst, the cooldown is reduced to only 2 seconds. This makes his Skill extremely spammable and allows you to generate a lot of Pyro particles very quickly.
  • Thanks to Bennett’s strong attack buff and healing, he’s a very strong support option in general. He’s a fantastic option to use alongside almost any attack scaling DPS characters.

4. Kaedehara Kazuha (5 star)

Kazuha is quite the sensitive samurai.

Kazuha is an Anemo crowd control and damage buffer, but he can also provide valuable Energy support as well. Here’s why he’s a valuable option:

  • Kazuha’s tap Skill grants 3 particles on a 6 second cooldown, or his hold Skill grants 4 particles on a 9 second cooldown. Additionally, the Xiphos’ Moonlight weapon is a great weapon for himself and for batterying the rest of his team. It provides a teamwide ER buff based on the holder’s EM. Because Kazuha wants to stack EM anyway to maximize his buffs, this is a great way to reduce his own ER requirements and those of his whole team regardless of their Elements.
  • Kazuha is an extremely versatile unit with a lot to offer aside from Energy. He has great grouping abilities and an extremely strong damage buff for Elements that he can Swirl. He’s a very easy character to slot into a lot of teams.

3. Venti (5 star)

Venti may look like an innocent bard, but he has a lot of secrets...

Venti is an Anemo character with very strong grouping abilities as well as Energy support. He’s a great support option for any team that needs VV support, grouping, and additional Energy. Keep this mind if you want to use him:

  • Venti’s tap Skill provides 3 particles on a 6 second cooldown or his hold Skill provides 4 particles on a 15 second cooldown. His hold Skill is generally reserved for exploration, so in modes like the Spiral Abyss you’ll usually be using his tap Skill. His strongest Energy support comes from one of his passive talents. When his Burst ends, he restores 15 flat Energy to himself and any party characters whose Elements were Swirled during his Burst. This allows Venti to provide strong Energy support to any Hydro, Cryo, Pyro, or Electro characters.
  • Venti is an easy character to slot into any team that requires crowd control and VV support, so his strength goes far beyond his Energy support capabilities.

2. Fischl (4 star)

Fischl may seem unserious, but don't underestimate her in battle.

Fischl is an off-field Electro DPS who happens to generate a lot of particles. She’s a great teammate for any team that relies on Electro reactions. If you decide to build her, this is what you should know:

  • Fischl summons a raven named Oz to deal damage from off-field. He’s summoned via Fischl’s Skill and his duration is refreshed via her Burst. This allows him to have great uptime. Each time Oz hits an opponent, he has about a 66% chance to generate a particle. This allows Fischl to generate particles consistently while off-field.
  • As a DPS character, Fischl’s personal damage is much higher than that of most other batteries. In addition to Energy, she’ll also contribute to a large portion of the team’s damage.

1. Raiden Shogun (5 star)

Raiden is quite the intimidating figure.

Raiden can be used as either an on-field or off-field DPS character, and is the best battery in Genshin Impact. She has high personal damage output as well as strong support capabilities for the rest of your team. These are the most important points to keep in mind:

  • Raiden’s Skill doesn’t generate any particles on cast, but every time it launches a coordinated attack it has a 50% chance to generate a particle. Her Skill can have 100% uptime, so this allows her to generate energy whether she is on or off the field.
  • When Raiden’s Skill is up, your active character will receive a damage buff to their Bursts. Not only does Raiden generate a lot of energy to allow your characters to use their Bursts more quickly, she also allows them to deal more damage. This makes Raiden an amazing battery that has high personal damage, high energy generation, and a teamwide Burst damage bonus.
