Final Fantasy XIV is a game that also has a collection of Relic weapons that a player can grind for its looks and attributes. A Relic weapon is a unique, shiny weapon with an intricate design which are also the best weapons in each of the expansions it was released on.
As of now, there are four Relic weapon series that a player can grind: Zodiac, Anima, Eureka, and Resistance Relic Weapons, which all belong to A Realm Reborn Heavensward, Stormblood, and Shadowbringers expansion, respectively.
Among the four, Zodiac Weapon is known to be the grindiest and most annoying to grind to, but players will still do it for its fabulous, one-of-a-kind look as well as for its rarity.
In the fourth step of the Zodiac Relic weapon, players will need to grind and get an item called Alexandrite to upgrade their Animus Zodiac Weapon into the next step, the Novus Zodiac Weapon. They will need a total of 75 Alexandrite to complete this step.
However, looking for a way to grind for Alexandrite might be confusing, especially since the game did not give the players apparent clues on how to proceed. For this reason, this article will detail five ways to farm Alexandrite in Final Fantasy XIV.
5. The Hunt
Guide on How to do The Hunt in FFXIV.
One of the best ways to get Alexandrite is joining Hunt Trains and killing A and S mobs all over Eorzea, mainly in A Realm Reborn and Heavensward's areas, as those two expansion's A and S-rank mobs will drop Allied Seals.
How it works:
- Players kill A and S-rank mobs in A Realm Reborn and Heavensward area to get around 50-200 allied seals per mob.
- Alternatively, players can also do the weekly B-rank hunt and daily hunts to take in their respective Grand Company and Foundation, Ishgard, to get more seals when there is no hunt train going along.
- Players can then purchase Alexandrite from the Hunt Billmaster in their Grand Company area for 50 Allied Seals per Alexandrite.
4. FATEs
Guide on How to Grind Fates for Alexandrite.
Another option for a player to farm Alexandrite is by Grinding FATEs throughout the lands in Eorzea for a chance to drop Alexandrite.
How it works:
- Players can farm for Alexandrite by grinding FATEs. Chocobos are very helpful for clearing FATEs faster.
- Players can also form a party with other players who are also grinding FATEs for their own relic. FATE grinding is a crucial step in grinding Zodiac relics and in Anima and Resistance weapon Relics.
- Players may earn experience in clearing FATEs for their alternative battle jobs as well.
- Players may obtain an Alexandrite upon clearing gold on the FATE, depending on luck.
3. Morbid Motivation Quest
Guide on How to Take Morbid Motivation Quest.
The third and second points in this article will be related to the first point later on, as it is interconnected. This quest can be taken once a day.
How it works:
- Players can take this quest from Brangwine in Mor Dhona. It will reset daily
- A player will then go queue up into the Level 50/60/70 Dungeon Duty Roulette.
- Players may also level up their alt battle jobs while doing this Duty Roulette, as it gives quite a lot of experience.
- After clearing the quest, the player will earn a Mysterious Map.
2. Buying With Poetics
Guide on How to Grind for Poetics.
Similar to the Morbid Motivation Quest, this step in the article will also be related to the last point later. Players can grind for Poetics to buy Mysterious Maps.
How it works:
- Players can grind Poetics through a myriad of ways, as shown in the linked video.
- Players can also get a lot of poetics by doing the daily Duty Roulette, which is also one of the best ways to level alt battle jobs.
- After earning enough Allagan Tomestone of Poetics, a player can buy a Mysterious Map from Auriana in Mor Dhona for 75 Poetics each.
1. Mysterious Maps
Guide on How to Do Mysterious Maps for Alexandrite Farming.
The last and most efficient way to quickly get the required Alexandrite is by doing Mysterious Maps. As has been mentioned before, this Map can be acquired through the daily repeatable quest 'Morbid Motivation,' as well as bought from Auriana with 75 Allagan Tomestone of Poetics.
How it works:
- Upon getting the Map, a player can then decipher it to reveal a hint for the treasure's location.
- A player can then head to the marked area and dig for treasure to reveal the chest.
- After, a player will have to defeat the mobs that have been triggered by the Map. It is recommended to use a level 50 and above the battle job to clear the trap quickly, as failing it will destroy the Map without giving the player any rewards.
- A player can then open the chest after successfully defeating all the monsters.
- Each successful Map will reward 5 Alexandrites, so a player will need a total of 15 maps if they want to grind only through Mysterious Maps.
