Almost every game has console commands that lets you set the game settings according to your own preferences, these can be like skippings movies to setting your resolutions just by press of the key ‘’ ` ‘’ you can open the console command window and type away, before doing anything you might want to search up the commands you want to integrate in the game, you can change quite a lot by these settings. Ofcourse Dota 2 also has these commands to adjust the game according to your enjoyment. First you have to enable the console to use in game to do it go to dota 2 icon on steam right click properties and choose set launch options. After this type -console, this would enable the console window in the game.

Some of the best console commands you can use are:

10) Novid

Novid as the name suggests is a no video command that lets you skip the intro movies of the game, it can save you a lot of time like 5-10 seconds,  novid is one of the few commands you can use not only in the console but in set launch options as well. Just type -novid in the set launch options or in the console, make sure there is a space between every command in the set launch option.

Skipping intro videos also saves you some of the loading the game requires to load up these videos, these are useless videos and you should not worry about them just skip 'em.

9) High

High is a command that lets you start dota 2 in high priority mode and does not let other programs that you may have opened to slow the game, it is a handy one if you like to open those chrome tabs while you are playing the game, it would use the cpu for the maximum benefit of the game rather than those accursed tabs.

It is also one of the few that can be used in both set launch options and in the console command sections. Just make sure you have a space between every command in the set launch option area, in the console you can just enter the command and press enter, then write the next one.

8) Mouse settings

There are many console commands that lets you change the mouse settings to your preference but the best ones are

-useforcedmparms -noforcemaccel -noforcemspd, these commands set the game’s mouse settings to those that of your pc, it is a handy command that doesn’t let the game mouse sensitivity and such, getting the precise experience everywhere on your pc and games is a must and these commands let you experience exactly that.

Just make sure to put spaces between every command like

-useforcedmparms -noforcemaccel -noforcemspd, there is a space before every command, if you do not use these spaces your commands won’t work, so keep in mind.

7) Run in windowed mode

There are few commands that let you change your resolutions and screen mode, every game has different performance and response to every screen mode, if you like to run your game in windowed mode you can just type

-windowed, this will let you run dota 2 in the windowed mode and you can do whatever you want while playing without the need to alt tab every time you want to minimize and do something.

Every game has different fps and responses to different modes, windowed mode might give you some fps or drop them. It's your decision as it lets you do other things without doing alt tab.

6) Resolutions

Console commands let you change the resolution of the games to whichever you want without going into the game’s settings or if the game does not support the resolution your monitor has you can set it to your monitor’s resolution as well, just make sure it is not too old of a monitor as newer games does not support those old aspect ratios.

The commands are -h [height] -w [width] , like if you want to set your game resolution to 1080 p you would do something like, -h 1920 -w 1080, this will set your game’s resolution to 1080 p and every time your game should start at that resolution.

5) Direct x 9 mode

As the name suggests it starts your game in direct x 9 mode, if you have an older pc with a graphic card that does not support direct x 11 or it does not run that great on direct x 11 then this is a god send for you, it generally increases your fps not only during gameplay but in menu as well.

Just put -dx9 in the console or set launch option and you are good to go, as always make sure there is a space between every command so it will work properly and not glitch out. This will take significant load off of your gpu and let the game run much smoother than before so you can own those noobs.

4) Faster game loading

Who does not like their game to load faster every time they start the game, if you have a low end pc or just want to speed up the loading a lot, then you would be happy with -map dota console command. It basically loads the map and assets of the game before going into the game itself like it would load the whole map when you are in the main menu and stuff, the loading will drastically decrease.

Console commands like these are very helpful for the players who have low end pcs and are trying to get good at the games.

3) Fps and network information

Having your fps and pings on the top of the screen is sure useful, so won’t rage by saying my pings were high when you are feeding to enemies. In all seriousness fps should be monitored also the pings to get the stable as possible gameplay.

The command for this is cl_showfps 0, at value 0 it will be disabled, at value 1 it will show fps and at value 3 it will show you your pings. Better than typing -pings every time you want to see your pings.

2) Auto Attack

Auto attacking in dota is considered to be a novice mistake, just hitting people is not going to cut it. You have to be strategic with your attacks and denying at the right moment to cancel the enemy’s exp for that unit. This command dota_player_units_auto_attack lets you customize so your hero won’t just keep attacking, however you have to be vary that after setting its value to 0 your hero will not attack anything unless you click on it.

It is a good method to get better at laning phase with farming and finding those patterns that make a novice into a pro. Change the value from 0 to 1 to activate it.

1) Auto config

Auto config always starts your game with the recommended settings on which your game will run the best, basically the setting that every game starts with when it reads your system specifications. Dota 2 will be set at the best settings according to your system every time you launch it.

It is helpful if you accidently changed a setting and do not know which one it is and it's dropping your fps and such, use autoconfig in the console or launch option and you are good to go.

Just make sure that every command you use must have a space between them so it will work like it is supposed to.
