Picking a life path will take you the longest amount of time even longer than picking which gender you’ll play as. Because a life path will determine how the rest of your game will go. Also, these life paths can help you out in certain situations during gameplay. There are three different life paths to choose from.
Those life paths are Street Kid, Corpo, and Nomad. Each life path is different at the beginning but later throughout the game, you get to pick a few choices that are specific to your life path. In this article, I’ll try to help you choose which life path you should take.
We just hope that CDPR will overhaul the life paths sometime in the future so that they have a better impact on the game. Anyways let’s get into the life paths and just to clarify these life paths are in no specific order.
3. Street Kid
For our first life path, we have the Street Kid. Your V will have lots of knowledge about the people and how Night City works. You’ll have major connections to any fixer in the city and most people will know about you or at least they would have heard about you. The starting area will be inside of a bar and you’ll be tasked with stealing a high-end hypercar.
Once you do reach the vehicle you’ll meet Jackie Wells who will try to steal the car from you but you both will end up getting beaten up by cops and then thrown into a dark alleyway. From that point on you and Jackie become best of friends and you both go on to commit crimes together, making it up in the world of crime.
What Street Kid Excels In:
- Huge knowledge about the streets and the people.
- Connections to fixers.
- Most people heard of your name.
- Special dialogue choices will pop up during conversations with fixers.
Pick Street Kid If:
- You want a start from 0 to hero.
- You want your name known by every fixer in Night city.
- You want to have special dialogue choices related to streets or any shady criminal activity.
- You want to know about the slang and gangs of Night city.

2. Nomad
Family or nothing. That’s how the nomads roll. Nomads live in the huge desert called Badlands. To these people family means everything. I am not sure if they’re close as people are in Alabama but maybe one day we’ll find out.
Even though they value family over anything V decides to leave that family behind and seek her or his fortune in Night City. During the prologue mission, V is accompanied by Jackie Wells and they have a task to smuggle an iguana over the border. They do that successfully and after their first mission together they become close friends.
What Nomad Excels In:
- Your whole family tree line is on the outside of Night City.
- You’re recognized by everyone in the Badlands.
- You have lots of connections to a huge sort of fixers and other people.
- You’ll learn about Night City and its people along with V.
- You’re close to your family like you’re all from Alabama.
Pick Nomad If:
- You want to learn about Night City alongside V.
- You want to start your story in the desert.
- You want to have a huge family supporting you.

1. Corpo
The last and final life path that we have here is Corpo. Once you do pick this life path, corruption will run through V. Only a small few people leave the corporate world with their lives but even a smaller amount of people with their souls intact. Your V knows that in this city there isn’t any middle ground, there are only winners and losers.
Knowing that your V will know how to get the most important information out of any character without involving violence. Sometimes V will use blackmail or she/he will mention the horrible things the other person did. After being backstabbed by the Arasaka corporation V barely manages to get out with her/his head still intact.
What Corpo Excels In:
- Able to manipulate the majority of important NPC characters.
- You won’t need to get your hands dirty. Everything can be done by talking.
- You know your way around the Arasaka corporation, which is useful during the later stages.
Pick Corpo If:
- You want to roleplay as a corrupt politician.
- You don’t want to get your hands dirty with the least amount of bloodshed.
- You want to manipulate or blackmail important NPC characters.
