The Iranian Peninsula, which formed the heart of the Persian Empire, is a high plateau surrounded on the east and west by mountains. To the south lie the Persian Gulf and the Gulf of Oman, to the north the Caspian Sea and more mountains. At its height the Persian Empire also encompassed Egypt, the Middle East and much of Asia Minor (modern Turkey). It's useless to generalize about the terrain and weather of such a huge and varied region spanning two continents. The Persian civilization could well be considered the most versatile of all civilizations as well as the master of Golden Ages: first, their Golden Ages last longer (a bonus cumulative with other, similar bonuses like that of Chichen Itza); second, their units become much more effective during a Golden Age; and third, their unique building has an additional Happiness boost, which helps in achieving Golden Ages more often. Keeping that in mind, play on the strengths provided by a Golden Age - the Gold, Culture, and Production bonuses - and choose a path to victory which uses these strengths. Because of their diversity, this could be in fact any of the four paths! Try to accumulate lots of extra Happiness to reach Golden Ages more often, and time your battle moves accordingly to use the Movement and Combat Strength bonuses for your units.

Why Persia is great for domination:

  • Golden Ages last 50% longer
  • During a golden age, units receive +1 movement and +10% defensive bonus.

8. Greece

Image
Body Image

Greece occupies a large, wide peninsula which juts south from the Balkans into the Eastern Mediterranean, between the Ionian Sea and the Aegean. The peninsula is almost bisected by the Gulf of Corinth, which opens into the Ionian Sea and runs east almost all the way across the landmass, leaving only a narrow isthmus connecting north and south. Greece is quite mountainous, with narrow fertile valleys separated by imposing hills and peaks. Summers are warm and winters are mild in the coastal lowlands, but snowfall is not uncommon in the mountains.Little is known about the earliest inhabitants of Greece. They were all but destroyed during the Bronze Age, circa 1900 BC, when a large wave of Mycenaean tribes migrated into Greece from the Balkans. The new inhabitants were largely dominated by the Minoan civilization of Crete for some 500 years until approximately 1400 BC, when the Mycenaeans threw off Minoan control. Homer's Iliad and Odyssey date from the Mycenaean period. Although altered by time, they nonetheless provide at least a glimpse into Mycenaean warfare, politics, religion, and daily life.he Greeks in the game excel at Diplomacy and city state relations, Their special ability sets that nootion in stone. They also have the ability to go through city state territory without having their influence with the state go down and cause a trespassing incident.

Body Image

The first detailed written description of England comes from the Romans, who under Julius Caesar invaded Great Britain in 55 BC. Caesar found an island of perhaps one million Celtic people divided into various warring tribes and possessing an Iron Age level of technology. Caesar led two expeditions to the island in total, and though he fought several successful battles, unrest in Gaul drew him off the island before he could solidify his conquests.England is located on Great Britain, a "green and pleasant" island off the western coast of Europe. It is the largest member of the political entity known as the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. Historically a seafaring people, for much of the past 500 years the English have used their incomparable navy to project their power into Europe and across the globe. One of the strongest if not THE strongest seafaring civilization in the game, their special abilities allow them to dominate the seas much like they did years ago, being able to travel and take control of the seven seas of civ with ease. Body Image

Japan is a small country, with a total landmass approximately equal to the size of the American state of Montana. Mountain ranges cover alittle 80% of the country. Japan is made up of four main islands, Hokkaido, Honshu, Shikoku, and Kyushu, plus dozens of smaller islands. The land is young in geologic terms, meaning the mountains are high and rugged and the rivers are narrow and run fast. There are many volcanoes in Japan, some quite active. Earthquakes are not uncommon (nor a godzilla sighting or two).It is generally believed that settlers moved into Japan some 20,000 years ago during the Paleolithic Period, The migrants probably crossed the Sea of Japan via several land-bridges which for a time connected the islands with Korea and Asia. While little is known about the prehistoric Japanese, it is clear that at some early point they gained enough sea-craft to travel safely and easily between islands, as Japanese culture and language is remarkably homogeneous throughout the chain. The Japanese are purely a military civilization. Both their unique ability and their two unique units contribute to an amazing fighting force, which has the ability to deliver enormous amounts of damage even when their units aren't at full health. As well as the units are unlocked during two crucial moment of the game being early game industrialization and the late game beginning in the late industrial era beginning of modern and atomic. When aggressive civilizations need to continue expanding on their way towards a domination victory, their unique units and abilities are a surefire way to win.

5. China

Image
Body Image

China is a civilization spanning some six thousand years and comprising a large fraction of humanity. There is evidence of man's prehistoric ancestors living in China some two million years ago, and modern man has lived in the area for at least 18,000 years, possibly much longer. China can be divided into three main areas: the mountainous highlands of the west, the rugged south, and the eastern lowlands bordering the Yellow and East China Seas. Bisected by a number of major rivers, the incredibly fertile lowlands have been the center of power in China. Throughout much of its history China has remained an insular and isolated civilization, largely ignoring and being ignored by the rest of the world. This was not a difficult task since for many centuries China long held a distinct technological and military edge over any and all external foes. And any threats it could not defeat militarily, it simply absorbed into its own culture. The chinese are one of the more versatile civs in the game with an advantage in the domination and scientific paths of the game. With its special abilities and its special unit and building aid.

4. Poland

Image
Body Image

Lying in between the Baltic Sea to the north and the Carpathian Mountains to the south, the Polish plain served as the gateway for invasions of the heartland of Europe from the east and invasions from Russia from the west. Poland became a recognizable entity in the mid-10th Century AD under the Piast dynasty of kings;its modern history begins in 966 A.D when the first Piast king, Mieszko I, was converted to Christianity. For hundreds of years afterward, Poland's fortunes waxed and waned at the hands of powerful neighbors and invaders, from the German Knights to the Mongol Golden Horde to the Soviet Union's forces. Even in times of national crisis, however, Polish ideals of revolution and independence remained strong and never faltered. Those ideals, carried abroad by Polish expatriates,They informed the American and French revolutions. The Polish constitution of 1791 AD, the oldest in Europe, incorporated those same democratic ideals. One of the more versatile civs in the game, They have the potential to snowball into any victory they want but not in the scientific way the Babylonians do, They do the same using their advantage in gaining social policies faster than others with a special ability for mounted units.

Why Poland is Great for domination:

  • Special ability “Solidarity” Rewards players with a free social policy for advancing to a new era
  • Winged hussar instead of a lancer Comes with Shock I promotion and special ability to make enemy defenders withdraw if they inflict more damage than the hussar receives

3. Germany

Image
Body Image

Otto von Bismarck, also known as the "Iron Chancellor," is perhaps the most significant figure in German history. During his long political career Bismarck unified Germany and founded the German Empire; Germany was transformed from a weak and loose confederation of states into a powerful united country that would come to dominate continental Europe.Bismarck is a great choice if you enjoy having a massive army. You will likely pick up a fair amount of units from barbarian conflicts alone, and you’ll pay less for each of them. Combined with the Professional Army perk from the Honor tree, and you’re going to have a highly effective but also cheap military force at your command. Both UU’s are powerful for their time, The Landsknecht is also particularly useful when raiding enemy cities, as you can heal each turn by pillaging.

Why Germany is great for domination:

  • Furor Teutonicus
  •  Upon defeating a Barbarian unit inside an encampment, there is a 67% chance to earn 25 Gold and they join the Germans.
  • Germany's unique building, the Hanse, replaces the Bank and is a very nice way to bolster both Gold income and Production in the mid-game. Trading primarily with city-states maximizes this special ability.
  • The Panzer, mirroring the historic tank brigades of the Third Reich, is one of the most terrifying weapons of the late game, thanks to its enhanced speed and strength.

2. Korea

Image
Body Image

The Korean peninsula, known today for its divided nations of North and South Korea, has been home to numerous kingdoms over the ages, some virtuous, some steeped in infamy and strife. At times rivaling its neighbors, The powerful nations of China and Japan, Korea was united under the rule of the Choson Dynasty for over 500 years. The turmoil of the Japanese occupation in the early 20th century, followed by the Korean War in 1950, would shatter this once sacred unity. From this strife, South Korea has emerged as a nation of increasing economic and cultural significance on a global scale. In contrast, the oppressive regime controlling the reclusive North Korean state is frequently the subject of international condemnation for its handling of human rights and diplomatic relations. In the game, The koreans are a science based civilizations but are granted different special abilities to aid in this endeavor compared to the babylonians. 1. Zulu

Image
Body Image

The Zulu were a small tribe of the Nguni people when Shaka seized the chieftainship with aid from Dingiswayo, the chief of the powerful Mtetwa. Shaka and his mother had been given sanctuary by the Mtetwa when exiled by Shaka's father. Under Dingiswayo's patronage, Shaka grew to be an imposing warrior, was given command of one of Dingiswayo's regiments, and served with distinction. During this period he perfected reforms of the weaponry (arming his units with the assegai, a broad-bladed spear with a two-foot shaft) and tactics (the "buffalo horns'' formation, meant to encircle and annihilate an enemy force), and established an age-grade organization, whereby boys of similar ages were trained as warriors at military kraals known as Ikanda and fought together in the same regiment throughout their lives. The Zulus are best fitted for a domination victory that encourages a "Zerg Rush'' strategy consisting of melee units, as their unique ability reduces maintenance cost for melee units to half. In addition, their military units require 25% less XP to earn their next promotion, thus allowing them to level up and be well-trained more quickly. Combined with the Nationalism and Total War tenets of Autocracy, this will allow the Zulus to have exceptionally cheap melee units and well-trained soldiers at the same time. Their unique unit, the Impi, is one of the strongest mid game units, especially when attacking. Combined with the special promotions (see below) and their bonus versus gunpowder units, the Impi conferred the Zulus almost unmatched power in the Medieval and Renaissance Eras, and remained useful all the way until the early Industrial Era.

Why the zulu are great for domination:

  • Iklwa  Melee units cost 50% less maintenance as well as take 25% less exp to earn their next promotion.
  • Their unique unit, the Impi, is one of the strongest mid game units, especially when attacking
  • The Zulus have access to a unique building called the Ikanda, which not only grants +15 XP to units produced in the city, but also access to unique promotions to all non-mounted pre-gunpowder melee units.
