5. Dunkleosteus
The Dunkleosteus is the king of the depths, and in the deepest ocean lie the most amazing resources. Its saddle is available from level 44, and the taming method requires some skills and experience. You can use the KO strategy by luring it into a cave or, better yet, by inflicting torpor with a Tusoteuthis.
This large creature is one of the best metal farmers available out there, as it doesn’t only have a 4-star efficiency rate but also a 50% metal weight reduction. Use its mighty jaws to collect and defend your metal, stone, and even oil!
What makes the Dunkleosteus great for metal:
- It’s the best underwater metal farmer in Ark Survival Evolved. With incredible gathering efficiency and a 50% weight reduction, you can easily get insane amounts of metal from one expedition.
- There are many hidden underwater spots full of metal that are waiting for you to gather them. As a tip, element ore rocks found on Crystal Isles in underwater caves can get you as much as 300 metal with one Dunk hit.
- The Dunk also offers you safety and protection when adventuring in the most dangerous places so that you can search for the best metal spots without worries. Even more, it’s easier to tame than the Mosasaurus.

4. Excavation Rig Tek Stryder
When launched, Genesis: Part 2 offered players unbelievable new dinosaurs and experiences. The Tek Stryder can be equipped with 2 out of 8 possible attachments, each with its own unique benefits. Get up to 13.000 metal with one attack using the Excavation Rig and fill your inventory in seconds. The only disadvantage is the difficulty of finding and taming the creature.
What makes the Tek Stryder with Excavation Rig great for metal:
- It can harvest thousands of resources, especially metal and thatch, in just a few seconds, so the effort of getting one is surely worth it.
- When activating the attachment, it will lose charge and harvest all the nodes in front of it instantly. The amount of metal gathered by this creature exceeds any expectations, and the rig won’t hurt or provoke any nearby creature.
- The attachment can be linked to a dedicated Tek Storage Box, so all resources can be safely stored simultaneously, without any extra effort.

3. Gacha
These adorable monsters can be tamed by simply dropping all the items in front of them. They are known to eat everything they’re given, including weapons and other unusual items. Their favorite foods include Plant Species Y Traps, Snow Owl Pellets(Extinction), walls and foundations, metal ore, stone, meat, and, of course, berries.
What makes the Gacha great for metal:
- If you get more Gachas, you can easily build a crystal farm. These creatures ingest all items and transmute them into crystals containing up to 6 different resources, including metal. Such a farm can become a great source of metal and even other rare resources
- Even when simply gathering metal from rocks and nodes, Gachas have the highest gathering efficiency, as well as a 50% weight reduction to make your life easier.
- Gachas have Crafting skills that can be improved and focused on different resources. They can create both loots, including rare weapons and simple resources. If you wish to have a Metal Gacha, advance the crafting skill to about 160% and enjoy incredible quantities of metal with no effort.

2. Magmasaur
With the best metal gathering efficiency and the best weight reduction, the Magmasaur is a strong competitor for the title of the best metal gatherer. However, this terrifying, hellish creature is a rare, valuable tame, only accessible to advanced players. It’s a fierce golem killer and a strong fighter in any battle, resembling a bearded dragon.
The Magmasaur even exceeds the classic Anky in terms of mineral/metal gathering with a better weight capacity and improved mobility. The trick is that a wild Magmasaur can’t be tamed, so an egg must be stolen and hatched and the baby must be nurtured very carefully. With such a complicated taming process, the creature occupies the second place at the top, compared to the friendly, accessible Ankylosaurus.
What makes the Magmasaur great for metal:
- It has the best gain per action when harvesting metal. Moreover, the creature has a 75% weight reduction, as well as increased weight capacity compared to other dinosaurs used for metal farming
- It’s a fire creature, comfortable in hot, volcanic environments. The Magmasaur offers its rider volcanic protection, so you can get metal directly from inside the volcano, immune to eruptions and dangerous climate conditions.
- Its apex status makes you invisible to other predators. There is no safer place for harvesting metal than the back of the Magmasaur.
- Even more, this creature is immune to all fire-based attacks. Use it as a gatherer and fighter, protecting your resources!

1. Ankylosaurus
With a slow movement speed and a weakness for regular kibble or fresh barley, the Ankylosaurus is relatively easy to knock out and tame. Even more, it can also be used as a guardian, transporter, or for quickly clearing out a territory.
What makes the Ankylosaurus great for metal:
- Combined with a Quetzal, the Ankylosaurus is unstoppable when it comes to mining metal. It can roll down the hill and break metal rocks instantly, or it can be placed near the rocks and harvest them without even touching the ground
- It has an 85% weight reduction for metal, the highest available in the game. This dinosaur is specialized in getting you all the metal you’ll ever need in the game.
- Although it’s slow on the ground, it can swim quickly, making it an excellent underwater miner. It can easily gather both metal and oil from nodes situated on the bottom of the ocean
- Its tail club attack gives it the ability to fend off most sea predators and a great number of land predators too. It can protect the harvested resources and deliver them safely to the base.
